I do not hate England!!! They always like to whine instead of performance in the field. What are the contribution of Broad and Root. Even Jack and Hameed would have better choice than these. Try to understand my post

Bangladesh has to get beyond this hurdle. It will be invaluable for them for the long run. If they don't, all the goodwill in the world about how well they have competed will count for naught. They will forever look back at this like the one that got away and it will become a chapter that everyone will refer to whenever they get close to a victory in the future.
This test will be memorable either way for Bangladesh, but of they lose it will set back their development slightly.

Bangladesh really needed Rashid to stay in the attack rather than having to face a real spinner.

Very good delivery. Your right nothing could have been done there. These 60 odd runs will be difficult to chase if more deliveries like that are bowled.
 
That was a solid effort from Mushfiq. 124 balls he was out there for. Match over unfortunately.
 
Mushfiq could do nothing about that ball - that just spat up on a length.

Excellent partnership though and an excellent Test match - I think it will go down to the wire.

He got his good luck as well, but to my disgust, I think the margin will be below 45 - we blew the Test in that session.

He has to - what you are saying is wrong mind set. Best ever batsman with tail was Steve & he trusted his partners, kept playing his natural game.

They've had a few heartbreaking near-misses in Tests:

Multan 2003
Fatullah 2006 when failing to defend 300+ vs Australia
Chittagong 2008 when NZ chased 317 thanks to heroics from Vettori.

As you say, they need to get over this mental block and close out a Test match vs a top team.
 
As an England fan, I think Bairstow should be a specialist batsman. Against a better team his keeping could be costly. Plus he might score more runs if he didn't keep.
 
Mehedi's cricinfo page says he's got five first class fifties which suggests he's not a complete bunny.

Wish Mushfiq could have stayed until there was around 30 needed.

What a shot from Shabbir to bring up his 50. He should keep playing his natural game. I think the biggest risk is when you get bogged down and start defending balls that should be put away.
 
Sabbir needs to chill down. I can tell that English players are equally stressed - it's not east to knock 4 wickets, if one doesn't make it easy, 50 at hand.

As much as I want Bangladesh to win, this is where I think their inexperience will cost them unfortunately.

It's not even that, you think it's easy to chase 250+ in those conditions? Even Pak would struggle, I know in the past we've managed to get out of a similar hole but they were magical performances.

It's always tough to chase 250+ in these conditions but England don't have a good enough spin attack to take advantage of the conditions.

Pak would've definitely won here and probably India too.
 
An accurate left armer is the most lethal weapon on a rank turner .
England need to invest in one for India.

Prior to this Broad spell I was wondering if Ansari could come in for him in the 2nd test but that looks unlikely now.

BD are 7 down so they're not too bad, in fact they are quiet underrated; India will be punished if they get complacent

Agreed !! Banter and Leg Pulling is all good and fun but if there is a genuine case of a test team becoming competitive due to a victory against all odds then I guess as a cricketing community it would be very unfair to not root for them.

I am probably one of those posters that get then knickers in a twist for many a Bang Bros but clearly the fight shown by them in this game is highly commendable

Ansari is the next cab off the rank, haven't seen him bowl much so no idea how good he is.

Monty's career went off the rails with alcoholism and mental illness so he's a long way from getting back into England contention.
