What's new

Bangladesh vs Pakistan | 2nd ODI | Dhaka | 19th April | Pakistan Innings

Because of his mental fortitude, I'd like to think he'd have a better career than even Akmal or some other cricketers like Hafeez, if given the proper chance.

It's all about mental courage in cricket nowadays.

If you work hard, you can improve in batting anyways.

For instance, you like Rizwan, and I feel he is another version of Maqsood.

I like cricketers like Saad, who don't really look good, but always come to the party when chips are down.

Fawad would have been another but he was miserable most days when his areas were plugged.

Saad doesn't have such problems.

It's rough to judge someone who is probably nervous and doesn't look ready in 1st match. 2nd match and he has already played better than most Pakistani batsmen and still is only utility for you.

Maybe it will take him 10-20 matches to convince you, but I like people who are strong mentally more than aesthetically pleasing.

Maybe you are right, but I my first impression is that he lacks the basic level of talent to be anything more than a utility cricketer. Can't see us doing better than 5th/6th ranking if he's a mainstay in the team.

Emergence of another player like Haris/Rizwan etc. will be the end of him in the playing XI, and let's not forget he's playing only because Maqsood got injured.

He's a mediocre batsman who won't survive against good attacks and will not be consistent against minnows either.

A good knock today though.

Should look to get 30 runs off the next 6-7 overs and then smash it around in the last two. Can't lose a wicket here.

Haris and his 40's continues....

Why is it an exception? Similar type of players but I think saad is a better batsman than smith before smith started concentrated on his batting ! Has good variety of shots ! Not a power hitter but a good accumulator

Smith was always talked about as the next best leader in australian cricket. Who knows, maybe Saad will be very good in 3 years too. For that to happen, he needs to play up the order like Smith did and prove himself time and again all over the world.

I was talking about his transformation into a match winner not comparing him ! Similar type of players but saad is a better batsman before smith started concentrating on his batting ! Now smith is far ahead !

Lol, Smith was a far better batsman in 2009-2010 than Saad is now.

Honestly I love mediocre batsmen who prove better than world class batsmen.

Especially supposedly when those world class batsmen are just potentially world class based on fans opinions.

It makes the "mediocre batsmen" even more entertaining :)

I'm a curse. Didn't watch for an hour and Haris/Saad put on a decent partnership, the first ball I watched Haris got out.

Wahab is looking pretty decent out there, he is really turning into top player. Definitely our most important cricketer at the moment.

And Saad will be never like Smith. (if he does, that would be a revelation).

But he can better Hafeez and no-show Fawad given a long reign at 4-5 at the middle.

I am sure he'll be taking up that task seriously

I agree with this. Happy to see guys like Nasim perform.

Hammad Azam has similar characteristics as a batsman, we need him in the all-rounder position.

mashrafee is a liability... since he took a wicket accidently, now he will bowl all 10....

Kid has the chops to play under pressure as seen in this match. I would take a player like him any day over someone like Umar Akmal. I understand that it's early days but it's easier to develop cricketing skills over a period of time than changing your attitude. A bit like Robin Singh for India in the 90s. Less talented than his peers but had his scoring zones and was mentally very strong.

Smith was also VERY similar to Saad. He was also a bits and pieces batsman up until that tour in India. He had a FC average of 30 before his golden run and was not even in the team let alone talked about him being the next captain. It all depends on hardwork and if Smith could do it why can't Saad?

Change of statement ? Itni jaldi

What did I say, he's useful utility cricketer and has a cool head, but he is no Smith. When did I say that I'm unhappy to see him perform?

Why there is no mustache of Shakib?

Saad Nasim needs to be more mature. He needs to be there till the end, if he gets out, we might not even get to 200.

Did you forget how Smith played in Ashes in ENgland when everyone around him fell like nine pins? I don't agree that Saad is more talented than Smith at the beginning of his career. I do agree though that he can definitely get better through hardwork and the backing of the team management. He needs his role clearly defined and has to work hard

How come sunny is not called? - he is a chucker :(

soon any record of mamoon having ever spoken against nasim will be erased forever #conspiracy

What do you mean? :moyo

I have not spoken against him. I called him a useful utility cricketer before today's game. If saying he is no Smith then that doesn't count as speaking 'against him'.

If you want a world class player in him, you will be disappointed, but he will come good more often than not in such situations because he has a cool head.

Saad is another nail in Fawad's coffin. When Maqsood gets fit and with Haris and Rizwan scoring runs as well, he might be shown the back-door once again.

If Hafeez is not cleared I would rather drop prof than Fawad
