What's new

Bangladesh vs Pakistan | 2nd ODI | Dhaka | March 13 | Match Discussion

Its a flat pitch with ordinary bowling. If you shake in your boots here, how will you play better in the world cup? This is the ideal series to let go your fear and play freely. If you cannot do it here, you can never do it against better bowling in the pressure of the world cup.

You guys really, really need to stop with the short term thinking if you want your cricket to improve. Forget about series or match wins but use these matches for experimenting like all teams do.

Otherwise, yes you will win a bilateral against Bangladesh but should that really be your end goal?

I hear what you're saying but we're already experimenting with 3 of our batting stalwarts not playing. Wins give confidence to a team and Pakistan needs the Ws. Plus expecting Rizwan to play like ABDV is not a real expectation. He's clear on his role and this is how he will play in the WC as well.

Just hoping they make hin captain in time. That's the real experiment we need to be doing in these bilaterals.

this is just fun cricket between two brothers. Like a casual game at the beach during childhood. Win/Lose doesn't matter, its just fun and memories to recount in future reunions.
I think BD's qualification for World cup depends on this

Samad can hit.

Talat is as useless as they come. Talat, Nawaz, & Shadab are literally the reskins of the same base model.
As bad as they are you cant put them in the same category as Talat. They have a few match winning knocks, Shadab as crap as he was, was the second highest run getter for Pak in the WC. In the longer format he can keep playing at a high SR and seems assured unlike lost at sea kinds like Talat.

The key is "was".

Shadab's primary role is of a bowler and he's absolutely useless. His batting hasn't leveled up & his fielding is abysmal.
Nawaz has lost more matches than he has won with both bat or ball. He's also a T20 bully against weaker teams.

In their current avatars, they are all the same. Anyone can play or not play from the three and the output is going to be the same/similar.

My point was just purely as batsmen in comparison with Talat only.

Shaheen's downfall needs to be studied. He looked like a generational bowler in 2019 who could also bat a bit. Now he seems like a man playing on borrowed time. Innocuous with the ball, miserable with the bat, invisible in the field - no matter what the format is.

Fitness.

Like all of our players, a little bit of fame got to his head, instead of constantly evolving he started thinking would always be the best and got more involved in politics and throwing tantrums on SM when things didn't go his way.

In bowling, definitely.
In batting, really? He looks like a crab surviving for air when he comes out to bat. That cannot be just fitness alone.
He was never a decent bat. Sometimes bad bowling can take the confidence of little bit of batting abilities one has.

He was never decent but he could hit and also really block. Now the only bowler who has some potential with the bat is Nasim. Everyone else looks as if they don't know which end of the bat they should hold.

What a collapse from pakistan. They have no game awareness at all. Atleast play 50 overs takes singles and 2s. Don't understand their obsession of hitting sixes.. their batting coach need to be sacked first followed by others coaching staff and selectors too..

Pak were 103/1 after 13 overs and then 231/3

Lost 7 wickets for 43 runs

274 seems well below par

Last few dismissals of Afridi, Faheem and Wasim classical examples of brain fade / a lack of situational awareness

Blind slogging does not work

Rizwan played with a strike rate of less than 75, that translates to less than 225 in 50 overs. So at least the lower order and other batsmen took he team to 274, which is way more.

Lol is that how cricket is played? One batter facing all the balls

Why do u guys keep selecting that talat guy? Total failure....ever that ifti chacha legend has more talent & has played some matchwinning innings, i remember a 50 vs India at mcg

All out again with overs to spare :mad: Who's blaming Riz for playing slow here??
Rizwan scored with a strike rate of less than 75, which means less than 225 in 50 overs, the team did 274, so others played way better than him for sure. Remove his 44 for 59 and others scored 230 of 241 at 96 strike rate

But go ahead, talk about collapses and blame every one else. Rizwan is allowed to waste all balls, but others should bat at 8+ an over.

Use your common sense, if one batsman wastes balls, there will be less balls for others to score. Entire rest of the team scored at a strike rate of 96 overall.

So you are admitting double standards where Rizwan is allowed to crawl at less than 75 strike rate but want other batsmen to hit at 7+ an over to get a decent score? And when they cannot you will blame them and not the guy wasting balls?

Weird

What did Rizwan do at the fall of a crucial wicket?

Same old bongis repeated by him

Seen it countless times now. He got out trying to hit, should've continued playing how he was... it's all due to the pressure you built Rana sb :gilly

The cricketing IQ is zero. It's not just one player, it's almost everyone.

1. Maaz - no need to play dinky shots.
2. Farhan - no release shots, misbah clone kind of
3. Shamyl - doesn't belong here
4. Rizwan - tuktuks & then slogs needlessly knowing full well that it's last ball of the spell
5. Agha - dosti yaari spirit
6. Talat - he is not good enough to play for Pak
7. Samad - brain dead runout
8. Fahim - no matter what people say, he's not it
9. Shaheen - only in the team because someone nominated him as a captain
a. Wasim - zero talent batter
b. Rauf - the only person who showed some sense. Wanted to take the match deep and add some runs.

They don't need a coach, they need saamri jadugar to fix their mindset magically.

You are using common sense that would apply to normal teams but we were AO despite him wasting so many balls, we would've been AO before 45 overs without his tuk tuk.

He demands to bat at number 4 or he will cause a riot through his pr. He gets to do what he wants. He plays the way he wants and no accountability. What made him think that he needs to launch now that he didnt do so throughout Agha being there doing all the hard work??

Oh bhai there are many factors for exame when wickets fall it creates pressure. Not only is it a dot ball but the new batters also take time and waste a few deliveries. Take into account lower order batting and the wastage of deliveries we didn't get to face due to being all out, it makes it for an underpar total. If Riz had played till say the 45th over, we would've played out all the overs and wasted less balls, in the end scoring higher. It's a TEAM game not an individual sport.

From 202/3 in 36/37 overs to 274 all out.

What’s wrong with Pakistan?

That was a rhetorical question, don’t actually answer

He wanted to get his fifty with a 6 and improve his strike rate so he can prove Rana on PP wrong :rizthumbsup

there is no proof of this, maybe if they had more balls, they would be under less pressure

And so what if there is a collapse, such bilateral series is to try different things, not to try the same tried and failed approach, look at how Sadaqat played fearless cricket, same guy was being abused last time.

What proof do you have that we would have scored 300 if he had scored at a 100 SR? Stop being stubborn for the sake of it. Having said that, apart from a couple of players, the whole team is crap, no matter the format.

Saim and fakhar instead of shamyl and farhan......... KG instead of talat.....

They should have known better that bangladesh is such third class people......

People from Bangladesh are some of the nicest folks I've met. They're very proud though (as individuals) and that pride can come across as rudeness sometimes
