Defensive team selection from Bangladesh. Leaving out Liton Das, who has a SR of 80 in FC this season, for the hack Imrul Kayes. Picking eight batsmen on this flat pitch. No Taskin or Mustafizur. Disappointing.
 
Bangla getting into a very good position in the game now. Pak need at least a couple of wickets to peg things back.
 
That's why I love Mominul so much. Has a very cool head over a short young body. Very consistent, compact. Never seems in a hurry.I hope I haven't jinxed him as he has just reached a 50. We want a big score from him
 
Yet again it is evident, our biggest problem is not coach, not captain, not our "not so aggressive approach", not our bowlers and batsmen: it is FIELDING. it is always fielding and it has to with our lack of athleticism.
 
However I would agree with [MENTION=129928]imrankhannsu[/MENTION] that we have bowled well so far! Bowling has been tight! And BD equally in defensive mood!

Neither Taskin nor Mashrafe plays in Tests. Mustafizur is too young to be brought in. Bangladesh has a history of injured young pace bowlers. THey are gradually being brought into tests.

By the way, this 50 from Mominul, is his 10th consecutive 50 in 10 test matches.

Woeld record = 12 , Ponting.
 
This match is so exciting, I've already taken multiple naps watching it.
 
Well , pakistan have mostly scored around 230 on first days in the last 5 years so this should feel normal to PPers
 
Mahmudullah is nearing 50. Both are well set. Hope they don't through away their wicket. That's the only way they can get out to the toothless Pak bowling
 
Zulfikar is finished , PCB selected him 10 years too late. Pakistan is in a serious problem with no good experienced spinners in the side and most of our cricket this year is on spin friendly surfaces. God help us.
 
Mominul is such a class act. I hope he continues to prosper.

4 hundreds and 8 fifties in only his 13th test now.

Add on 10 consecutive fifty plus scores in 10 tests in a row and counting. Incredible consistency in his young career so far. Hope he continues to work hard.

Bangladesh has to aim for 450, whatever time it takes. Then hurry along. Pitch will turn. Shakib, Taijul, Mahmudullah....
 
Wait until Misbah and Younis retire we will be between 8-10 in test ranking
 
Bangladesh focusing on getting themselves in a position where they cannot lose first.

You can understand that....they know Test Cricket is a different game, and they have to take things a step at a time. In the context of their history and position, drawing the test series would be a great result for them, even though you get the feeling that Pakistan are there for the taking. We are a 'momentum' team - when the chips are down, we tend to fall apart. If Bangladesh went for a more aggressive approach, we probably would have wilted. But, again, you can understand why they haven't.

To be honest, for long term success, its the right route to take to build a team. Look at England - they built a team on the principle of 'not losing' rather than winning, bowling 'dry', being patient, batting long. Bangladesh are probably better off taking that route.
 
This Wahab cant even generate seam movement off the pitch let alone swing! He is always dead straight! That's why he aint a Test material! Junaid at least can generate seam movement off the pitch! Imran Khan can swing and seam the ball at least! That's why I favored his selection over Wahab! Sadly we are still riding on Wahab's one off spell against Australia in the WC and ignore other vital things for the long term!
 
Yasir getting nice turn and bounce, it's easier to get left handed batsmen for leg spinners. I always enjoyed bowling more to left handers than right handers :warne
 
Bangladesh have Shakib, Mushfiqur and Soumya to come. They will definitely be playing their shots and boost the RR.
 
Pitch is turning but it's so slow that batsmen have enough time to adjust.
 
Bangladesh team looks like rank 2-3 in test ranking. How on earth we whitewashed Australia and won a test against South Africa?

Exactly. Until Wahab learns this quickly I am afraid he will lose his place in ODI side also. You need variations to bowl in these kind of conditions

Bangladesh is not playing to entertain you and in the process lose the match. These guys are a sturdier bunch. The RR will come when certain targets are fulfilled first.

I would say they should aim for 450 just before tea tomorrow. Then they can bash about for an hour and put Pakistan.

Of course, IF it goes according to plan.......... Bangladesh is in new territory these days.
 
When I was young, Hanif was our batting hero. Momin reminds me of Hanif. Similar build, cautious, patient. Left handed, of course.

By tea, you are asking 450. That will make sure it is a draw. This road will offer at least 450 on pressure to Pakistan.
 
Pakistan has actually bowled well. They have restricted Bangladesh and dropped catches have not helped.

I hope Shakib plays calmly.
