Assam accord was signed by Rajiv Gandhi in 1985 after 6 years of protests (started in 1979) demanding removal of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants.

If they are illegal they should be deported but no need to call them termites. I am sure there are many indians who are illegal immigrants in other countries themselves. Most of them won't like to be called as termites. Infact I can see people in India protesting and burning vehicles if anyone dares to call our people termites.

There's no rush.

It's just came to focus because this was the last step. NRC in order to distinguish between locals and illegal immigrants has been going on for years in various stages (every residents in assam gone through this process). It's a long process and this is the last stage of that.
