Based on current performances, does Pakistan really deserve to progress to the Super 8 stage?

That is a question that all Pakistan cricket team fans need to answer. That would they be OK with this team going forward or would love to see it falter for the future good?

This is an emotional question, if Pakistan makes it to super 8 then they deserve to be. If they don’t make it then they don’t deserve to be.

Simple as that.

We are back door specialists. Qudrat is our everlasting 12th man.

To be fair, Pakistan didn't do anything extraordinary; it was a tricky pitch.

On this pitch:

- Sri Lanka: 68/7 after 15 overs vs SA
- Ireland: 79/9 after 15 overs vs India
- Ireland: 74/6 after 15 overs vs Canada
- SA: 75/4 after 15 overs vs Ireland

*Copied from @jnaveen1980 post from another thread.

The key on this pitch was to score as many runs as possible during the powerplay when there were only two fielders outside the 30-yard circle.

India in powerplay 50/2 India remaining 14 overs 69 all out

If they make it to the final, @Mamoon will call it a successful tournament…lol
To be fair, it will of course be a successful campaign if they get to the final.
He’ll, I’d say it’d be successful if Pakistan got to the semis…..
I think some fans need to be realistic as to their expectations.

Getting beat by minnows and still finding a way into the final is nothing to be proud of, I’d rather watch my team play a style of cricket that is required for modern day cricket and fail to make it into the SF than to watch a rubbish team full of weak selfish stat padders who will never win any silverware.

It’s all about investing in the right players for the future.

Tbf bro, people are a bit too harsh on 2022 team.

2022 team unlike 2024 benefitted from a shortened covid format where alot of teams were not interested in playing the cup because preparations were for 2023 world cup. Even finch and Cumminfs during this time were asked and they just responded with we'll win wtc and 2023 wc, they didn't care, alot of teams weren't in it and India didn't play properly as they were transitioning for the prep of 2023 wc.

However 2022 team despite having a dreadful batting lineup had an amazing bowling lineup. Everyone was fit, firing and gelling well. Shaheen before injury was a bad death and Mo bowler but amazing with the new ball, while naseem was pretty decent too for the edition. Rauf has always been expensive but because wickets fell and rauf has a knack of picking em up he gelled well lastly shadab surpringly switched on his 2017 bowling self.

The bowling hard carried. 2024 on the other hand is a proper tournament with sides playing full strength as its no longer a covid era and 2025 ct is what their eyeing now. The format is harder with super 8's, and lastly the bowling is brittle and weak alongside weak batting.

The mentality Is also different. 2021 and 2022 they believed in themselves even if it was delusion and kudrat ki nizam.

2024 no one believes in themselves, Bobby is on the verge of crying and he's coping with shopping malls, Chacha is disinterested, abrar, Usman and saim feel like outsiders now, Imad and Amir have not gelled well because Babar couldn't put the dhusmani aside, and azam is uncaring.

Only person who wants to win and seems like their trying is shadab and fakhar. Yes these 2 have been poor but they are atleast trying. The rest seems like their done, including shaheen who probs also feels like an outsider now

Well SA copied Pakistan's total from yesterday...but still would win it if their bowlers bowled well

This is tournament cricket. IF you go through by playing fair, you deserve it!

Unfortunately, our team wasn't good enough. The selectors should be blamed at first and then the captain and management didn't select the best playing XI, especially against India. If you have picked Saim in the squad then you must play him. How can you play Shadab as a batter in the team?

With such an awkward performance, I wont prefer them to qualify for the next stage honestly because they will bring even more humiliation for the fans after facing even more stronger sides.
