Beard Appreciation Thread

Yeah, and I don't like it from an aesthetic POV either.

First of all not every maulvi is leading people astray but even if you are against all of them answer this question. Suppose there is a wicked person but he always tells the truth. Would you forswear telling the truth merely because a person of very bad character does the same?

I hope i didnt offend you. :afaq

I meant that you guys are relatively older than us, no?

I am. Saqs is a spring chicken in comparison. I'm at least seven years his senior.

I was thinking recently about how the kids who will start University this year were in diapers when I started University. In a couple of years, the kids who will start University weren't even born when I started. Its a humbling thought.

You wish, reality is closer to this:

Yo is that a guy or a girl!?! :)))

I have a problem with how beards are perceived as the symbol of piety and Muslim brotherhood. Why do you think players like Amla and Moeen are referred to as bhai and revered so much here unlike players like Owais Shah, Ajmal Shehzad, even Tahir (beard not long enough yet)?

Yes it is sunnah, but at that time, it was the culture - even enemies of the Prophet (pbuh) had beards and the same physical appearance as the companions of the Prophet. Islam did not introduce the beard culture, but people act as if its the symbol of being a pious Muslim.

Yes not all mullahs are bad, but I tend to judge them by the lengths of their beards. As a rule of the thumb, the longer the beard the more ignorant the Mullah is, and this formula works well enough for me.

Religious beards = international symbol of ignorance. Smaller the beard, less ignorant and uptight you are.

Also, Junaid Jamshed makes me hate beards even more. Cannot stand this Father of Ignorance.

Just admit it that you hate being a muslim, mate. :yk Or you are ashamed of being a muslim. :rahi

Neither, since I am only responsible for my own actions. Having said that, I do not take pride in something that I did not earn - I am a Muslim because I was born in a Muslim family just like you. Nothing more, nothing less.

Was a tongue in cheek comment. But yeah, i am not much fan of oh look moeen ali is drinking coke while others are drinking beer. Get a grip. :))

Also the how religious you are, the more religious you are the more that you're likely to act chaste in front of girls etc. :moyo

It never works. Girls dont dig too religious boys. But add in a spice of one or two Masha'Allahs and thats fine.

For a thinker like you, I am sure you will one day make your own decision in this regard. You will either rediscover the message for yourself, or you will probably give it all up.

I have rediscovered it, but I cannot convince a non-believer that I'm on the right path, because I cannot prove it. There was a time when I almost stopped believing in God and Islam in general, but then I experienced certain things.

Only religious when I'm putting my mind to it and need to be. I don't know how people can act so religous everywhere.

I'm not a nerd.

Beards don't suit me and yes I can grow a beard.

In our culture beards = being religious, I'm quite strong at the fundamentals of Islam (5 namaz a day, fasting, strong belief) without being involved too stringently.

Relative to other people in my age group I'm probably religious but I don't consider myself in that regard but also not at a stage where I want to spend so much time on maintaining a beard.

I dont know if you live in Pakistan or not but nope. In Pakistan, only the mullah beards are considered as being religious. Otherwise beards are in trend in Pakistan nowadays.

It was about the use of 'chicks' as an adjective for girls, thus the more religious you are the less you are likely to use it.

So Moeen celebrated with a coke and not champagne. That's a good reason for a lot of people in Pakistan to celebrate on social media. Someone explain this nonsense.

A small section would still be gutted though - though who believe coke contain's extract of pig liver and it's part of Yahoodi Saazish. I believe Abu Jahal 2.0 thinks the same, his views are not far off.

I mentioned that above too. :maqsood

But honestly, please dont de-rail the thread. :))

Why not water instead ? :bhatti

Moeen is such a joker.

Used Coke instead of Pepsi.

Astagfurallah. :afridi

Didn't know you were a conspiracy theorist. :murali

Here's one for you:

Coke was originally for white people only.

That's not my conspiracy theory, but people of the ilk of Abu Jahal II tend to believe this nonsense, which is why it is kufr to drink Pepsi.

Some of it is spilled anyway, in the spirit of celebration.

Guess the online mullahs will tolerate this lesser evil (coke) since Moeen has abstained from the greater evil (champagne).

There are a lot of theories associated with coke. Most of them are probably untrue.

Since the thread has been derailed, is Karachi safe to travel to ?

This is all you need. We have enough to worry about for our own selves, let have to worry about convincing others.
