What's new

Bhuvneshwar Kumar - Over-rated?

I like the lad a lot. He seems underrated to me. He can really make the ball talk in most conditions and his pace isn't that bad. He also bowls a good line and length and is clever.

England's pitches in odi cricket are total flat. It wont swing or seam unless its overcast condition.

Amir made the new ball swing in the final last year on a bright sunny day and BK arguably is better exponent of conventional swing.

Either way India has the luxury of 3 good pacers in him, Shami and Bumrah. The latter has to play because he is a death overs specialist and is express. For me it's between Shami and BK which is a tough one.

I think in the first 10 overs especially with the new ball BK could utilise the swing in England and take 2 or 3 quick wickets.

You could be Right. As of now his place in ODI side is safe.B Kumar is a decent ODI bowler but the problem is we are only playing with 2 specialist Pacers in ODIs.That's Why India need him to become a very Good Odi bowler instead of Decent.

I think against teams like Aus, SA, NZ and England you play 2 front line spinners because they're quality and these teams outside the SC don't play wrist spin well particularly if there's mystery like the left arm chinaman spinner has. I have a feeling Chahal and Kuldeep are going to rip through these batting line ups in the middle overs.

Against Pakistan - India should drop one of the spinners (I would say Chahal) and play an extra front line seamer with a bowling attack consisting of: BK, Shami, Bumrah, Pandya and K.Yadav. I don't rate this Pakistan team when it comes to scoring against pace.

Again telling that this thread is mostly for his odi performance and his test performance on green tracks. No doubt bhuvi is one of the best t20 bowler in the world atm.

He will be really happy to miss those first two odis else his avg could have been really 40+. Idk why but we still consider him leader of the attack while he has stats of part timers.

India has better options yet still continues with trundlers like Siddharth Kaul, Shardul Thakur and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar. Bring in they young U19 pacers!!

Just a matter of time before he gets exposed in test cricket too. Best pacer from Asia :)))

His avg vs top Team is:

Aus - 64
South Africa - 53
England - 53
New Zealand - 48

Mods please anyway to add this stats to main thread? or allow me to edit this thread pls. Thanks

I don't rate him and have never rated him. Good luck India winning the world cup with bowlers like him.

Bhuvi start well but he is crap in end overs... India should make him bowl his quota in first 35 overs

This.

Indian bowlers as an individual maybe ordinary but their strength lies in bowling as a unit. We may not have Steyns and Starcs in our lineup, but our unit on their day can rip through any sides.

just some of the few gems back on this thread from almost a year ago :)) :)) :)) :))

What is with the unwarranted criticism on Bhuvi - no one says he is the best in the world. He is a class test bowler and a steady limited overs one right now not in his best form or fitness. He is a great asset for us in tests and does his job without complaints in ODIs working well in a bowling unit executing his assigned tasks.

India's bowling unit needs a reliable 6th bowler who can bowl about 5 overs every match. I am thinking if Jadeja should be brought back and bat at 7 with Pandya moving one place up. Pandya, Jadeja and BK can be our lower middle order with the bowlers to follow. A little weak in batting yes, but if we have three seamers (or spinners depending on conditions) we might just not have to score/chase 300+ every match.

4/22 in 3.3 overs against Sri Lanka - excellent stuff from Bhuvneshwar Kumar

0/52 in 4 overs today. Poor game for him. Really needs to work on his death bowling

“Work on his death bowling” - that’s something you’d say to an inexperienced bowler.

He’s not going to improve on a skill at the twilight of his career. It be like me expecting chacha to convert one’s into twos.

Baffles me how can anyone seriously think of him as a great bowler.

I always thought it was some kind of running joke but hey what did I know?
Turns out people actually rate him.
