I started playing board games 2 years ago and I have to say I’m hooked , enjoy the company the variables also it’s a great way to socialize.

I still love four in a row , also my fav bar game.
I somehow never got into Poker.. not sure why, i do play it sometimes due to company.
Played Rummy as a kid during train journeys, good time.
I do play chess once in a while, and chinese checkers.

Anyone that has watched Jaws , I absolutely recommend JAWS board game with music on, absolute best 4 player board game ever.

Poker is a great card game to play(not online) because you learn how to read people. It also helps you work out %'s, what makes sense and also self control. OF course I dont advise to gamble real money.
Isnt Ludo big in India? It was huge in Pak, every time I went aunties wanted a challenge lol.

I love chess too. As a matter of fact, chess is my favorite board game. Monopoly is 2nd.

I agree on Poker, but somehow not able get into it.
Ludo is absolutely huge in India , I remember during Pandemic everyday i had an invite to play.. it’s finally gone down but it was so huge there is a bollywood movie by the same name.

If you liked Chess I do recommend Go as well.
Just to give you an idea traditional computers could beat the chess champion in late 1990s but couldn’t beat go champion till Google’s deepmind came into picture and they prepared the ai by facing #2.

Similar to Secret hitler , you have to guess the Werewolf.. everyone has characters and only they know it.
All these are called social deduction games.

Started only two years ago ? What were you doing in your childhood ?
My favourite board game has to be Scrabble. I'm good at vocabulary/word games. Which is why I do the NewYorkTimes and WashingtonPost daily crosswords on their website. It helps sharpen the brain.
There was also a military strategy game called Risk I played in my schooldays. Does anyone remember that ?

In a more regular way, as a kid played only chess, wasn’t that much into board card games ,played occasionally like once an year.
I haven't played Risk.. but i have seen it being played and remembered it being online as well.
Secret Hitler is a fun game to play and available to download all the material for free a while back. Not checked if still the case.
Ticket to Ride is the go to game with family. Just the right mix of competitiveness and strategy.
Catan, Carcassone & Azul are similarly enjoyable in the Eurogame category.
Risk is ultra competitive and also a great time pass game with friends/family. Literally spent many an evening playing this during student years.
Pandemic is also worth a look. Can be challenging to play depending on which characters you play with. Highly recommended.
Codenames & Flamme Rouge are also a couple of games that make it to our table on a regular basis.
Rang, Take Two and 31 are the most popular card games for my family/friends.

Scotland yard yeah but considering so many options with a higher excitement games on same duration of play it will definitely get missed.

My group currently rotates between werewolf, spyfall, wavelength, codenames, catan, monopoly, and apples to apples. Always looking to expand though!
Really enjoy werewolf with the right group, as well as the social deducing genre in general. Its quite like mafia for those who have played in the grand scheme of things, but with more depth.
Heard a lot of good stuff about secret hitler and resistance!

Werewords is similar to werewolf but with a words recommending that along with secret hitler since you like social deduction.
