ICC clear Bilal Asif bowling action

ICC clear Bilal Asif to bowl in international matches.
 
Good news! I was sure he'd get cleared. Will probably replace Imad in the ODI series against England.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) today confirmed that the bowling action of Pakistan’s Bilal Asif has been found to be legal, and the player can continue bowling in international cricket.



At the assessment, it was revealed that the amount of elbow extension in all of Asif’s deliveries was well within the 15-degree level of tolerance permitted under the ICC regulations.



He was reported after the third ODI against Zimbabwe in Harare on 5 October and the independent assessment was performed at the Sri Ramachandra University testing centre in Chennai earlier this month.
 
I had no doubt that his action was legal! Just targeting Pakistanis:misbah

What sort of pathetic umpiring is this. I'm more p.issed now than I was when he was called.
 
He has got a doosra which he has not bowled in his first two games. So he would not have been asked to bowl it in his test.

So will he bowl it when he plays 3rd test against England if so in pace of imran ? Or in matches ahead ?

Since he has been just cleared so I don't think any umpire will report him again for next one year even if they feel his doosra is not within 15 degrees.

Umpires: "A pakistani offspinner ripping through sides? This can't be right something is suspect, let's report him again for illegal action must be his bend elbow or something"
 
Interesting. He will be a liability if he continues to open though. As a bowler, he is alright. In this series, he will be useful since Imad Wasim is injured, but he should be playing at 7 or 8 and not as an opener / top order bat. I guess this reduces Zafar Gohar's chances for now though, although he will probably be in the squad.
 
A national day of celebration. Pakistan has found a non chucking offspinner who is yet to bowl a doosra.

So this means if not selected for 3rd Test then would be part of ODI squad certainly since Imad is injured.

However, it'll be interesting to see what would happen if he bowl doosra!

Conspiracy theory is just a blanket phrase many use to cover their own barely disguised hostility.

It's not like his action was marginal, the report says he was well within the legal limit

If that is not a targeted attack than I don't know what is..

A Bangladeshi bowler was also cleared after reporting. Umpires can only go with their instincts. Its hard to deteime the exact angle visually.
 
If he had been banned: ICC/BCCI/ Chennai centre conspiracy.

Now thats he is cleared : Umpires conspiracy!

I was confused with his action as well. If I was the umpire I would have reported him as well. It is good that he cleared it.

You could clearly see his action was fine and shouldn't have been called in the first place either.

He is very wristy and that created a bit of doubt, but the ump's are professionals and should have picked up on that with ease.

Incompetent umpires!
 
So if he is cleared then you people still have a problem? Why do you expect all of the umpire's suspicions to be correct? If that is the case then what is the point of official testing? We should just let the umpires make all the final decisions.

The ICC is a complete farce of an organisation.

Is Harbchuck going to go though the same process ?

Maybe the BCCI will give him the nod to retire and stick just to IPL.
 
Don't the geniuses attacking the umps realize that this in effect will allow him to bowl without fear and speculation about his action?

He can now bowl with his head up. This is the best thing that could have happened to him.

Lets send all the people who are going to commit murder but haven't done so yet to the courtroom and get them cleared so that they can now murder with their head up.

Why so much ire towards ICC? The resident contingent of denialists/double-standard dreamers always wanted that the ICC call any bowler who looks dodgy for testing.
Isn't that what was done in Imad's case.

He came to India for the test. How did the evil bcci allowed him to get cleared?
 
So a spinner who''s action is fine by the naked eye gets cleared. Disgraceful from the bcci influenced icc..

How come BCCI didn't fail him? They have all the influence in the world considering test was in India too. People here were saying because it's in Chennai even if he is clean he will be failed.

I don't think they can do that, there is a limit to what you can do with power. Bilal Asifs action was well within the allowed limit and it was strange for him to even be tested.

So if they banned him, it would create a potentially embarrassing situation for them, as through an independent facility PCB could have easily proved that Asif's action was well within the limit.

Even those who disagree with me will agree that my comment was perfectly sane. Yours was an outrage-splat.

What is important is that when almost every spinner is being looked at with suspicion, Bilal has had his action cleared and can now focus on his game in peace.

The job of the umpires is to remain vigilant and they did what they felt was right, no point in bad mouthing them. If Bilal is reported again and is found to be clean the second time as well then he may have a legitimate grouse, but frankly right now he should thank them and get on with it.

Tests by independent facility do not stand.

Hafeez was coming clear of independent facility before he got banned
 
Good news. His action was always clean to me. Have to say, where are all the indians who said "he clearly chucks".....??

Can ICC/BCCI ever win in this situation?

If he was found with illegal action and banned, then blame ICC/BCCI with conspiracy against Pakistani bowlers.
Now that his action is found legal, blame ICC umpires.
