Dear PPers,
I am planning for my 1st honeymoon in the first week of October 2011 inshAllah. Planning for 8-10 days honeymoon and have identified 4 potential countries out of which I will be choosing 2. Those 4 countries are Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and Sri Lanka. Most likely I will be going to Malaysia and Sri Lanka. By the way I live in Karachi, Pakistan

Kindly advice especially in the light of your personal experiences :)

I am not married, but out of that list; Thailand is a lovely place!

maldives is supposed to be a good option...my cousin went thre for her honeymoon.

Singapore for sure, followed by Sri Lanka. :D

P.S. I am also not married, but wish I was.

:))

I didn't notice the "1st honey moon".

A firm believer of 4 wives, monsieur umerz? :p

Go to Interlaken, Switzerland in peak winter.

Everywhere its full of snow. No outing, no shopping, no meeting friends. You will get more time to spend inside your hotel room. :p

Everyone and their aunt goes for Malaysia these days for honeymoon. Its good. But quite 'common' too. If you want to do something different, don't go there. Sri Lanka is more 'unique'.

Singapore is NOT a honeymoon destination! Depending on where you are in Malaysia, it could be a weekend excursion from there, or a flight stop-over.

Malaysia and Sri Lanka sound like a good combo, tbh. :19:

LOL...i knew it was coming :afridi ...Can't you go with the same wife the second time? again this has to be answered by experienced married guys :moyo

Never pick a place full of sight seeing and shopping. Else you will spend a lot of time in unproductive work.

My suggestion would be to discuss with your future wife and see where she likes to go. Take her input and then choose a place.

That I will surely do once I have all the info and answers to her questions.

If I am not wrong you are a female? I may be wrong..but if i am right this has to be shown to your future husband :p

Brother, you are spot on about KK Sex :fawad

Lol at showing this to KK future husband :yk

My advice will be that your first journey should be Hajj or Umrah. That will be a very spiritual journey and will bring both of you closer to eachother InshaAllah.

After that you can set out for other countries depending on your budget.

There are not many countries better than Norway neither in summer nor in winter but since you are from Pakistan summer will suit you well.

Just imagine the greenery, the mountains, the thousand fjords, the end of the world and the best of all the midnight sun!

(getting visa can be troublesome though)

I have been to sri lanka, malaysia and singapore. I can safely say , avoid singapore at all costs.Sri lanka is a must watch. You can choose between thailand and Malaysia.

My honeymoon was in Geneva and Interlaken. Beautiful places but went in Feb when its a ski season.

Both of us has no interest in ski and would had most of our time eating delicious food and spending time indoors.

Dude you travelled so far to stay indoors?

on our first honeymoon, I took the missus to Cambodia, Malaysia and Thailand...She loved it! These countries were amazing especialy the Ankor Wat Temples. There's a organisation which specialise in organising honeymoons for you, they are called Destinology... Took the hasstle of booking flights/hotels etc.

very nice pics Qamar84...Actually i have been to those place so I really want to go out of country...and seems like majority of the people are also recommending Malaysia and Sri Lanka

Been to 3 of the 4. I'd recommend Malaysia and Singapore. I'd say you'd need 5 - 6 days for Malaysia and 3-4 days for Singapore.

For our "Second" Honeymoon, this year we went to South Africa. Again such a lovely country. Durban, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town are amazing. The safari's, the culture and history are well worth going for. Halal food is readily available too and the people wre friendly.

how about brazil??? or southafrica???

vietnam or the carribean perhaps??

Someone has seen too many 70 and 80s bollywood movies :)

Did you take the first one along too?

Just wondering. :13:

Nah bro, every year on our anniversary we've made a promise to each other to go somewhere nice...Hence 2nd honeymoon!... Next year Inshallah, Brazil or Peru!

One bit of advice is to stick to a budget and take a fair bit of spending money!

Most of the traditional destinations like Malaysia, Maldvies, Seychelles and Sri Lanka are outrageously expensive, particularly the honeymoon resorts. It is not only the case of getting the right room, but the costs involved once you are there.

I had my honeymoon in the maldives and stayed at the Coco Palm resort. I chose this destination as our wedding was hectic and wanted a pure chill out intimate setting where playing draughts or reading a book was how to chill out and the restaurants were small and cosy. Nothing better to get to know your wife in such a destination, where talking is unavoidable. No distractions and no powerboats and adrenalin sports.

My experience of these resorts are that if you are not going peak season then book the most basic room and negotiate an upgrade whilst there. Do not buy the best before you leave - you will pay full price.

1) Maldives, stop over in the UAE at a lavish hotel on the way. Good combination.

2) One of the South Pacific Islands via London/LA. This will be heavenly but very costly.

the best place for the couple in honeymon is where i am leaving right now ...PARIS!!!

Bali in Indonesia is a great place if u have the choice try it.

Of your choices SL is the best.Do go to the hill stations of Lanka as well.Nice ones.

Thailand and Singapore well...not exactly Honeymoon places.

Malaysia....well go to Lahore....its that common.

That is wonderful to be honest...I plan to do the same but I haven't told by wife of the same. I don't know if we will be able to do it every year or every 2nd year...Since i have heard from my friends that too many responsibilities don't let you. :afridi

OK. As it stands for me Singapore is a no. So my friends recommend since it is not a honeymoon place and too expensive. There are recommendations for Maldives so that could be added and Singapore can be dropped. Also Srilanka and Maldives could also be a good combo but I have heard you should know swimming to enjoy in Maldives and unfortunately I don't

Knowing how to swim would have been handy but it shouldn't put you off. The Maldives is a magical place where you really get to relax with your partner.

You could just go in the baby pool :yk

Bali has become TOO over-rated I hear from my Indonesian friends. Lombok is definitely a better place to visit after being dubbed the 'New Bali'.

First year of marriage is all about the holidays!

For our honeymoon, we went to San Fran for 4 days, then Hawaii (the Big Island [not where Honalulu is] and Maui) for 10 days - it was MA perfect for a honeymoon. Plenty to see, plenty of rest and loads of seafood!

Then we went to Karachi!

Then Florence

And just last week, Hong Kong. There is so much to do in Hong Kong in terms of the city, but also loads of peaceful activities and beaches. I could even suggest it as a honeymoon destination for people based in south asia

My main advice would be to avoid any places which are typical honeymoon destinations - the last thing you want is to go somewhere for your special moment that is being shared bu hundreds of other couples doing the same thing. That is why Hawaii was great!

Dude Maldives is way expensive then Singapore and the locals will skin you off your money....if you really want to enjoy your honeymoon in style and peace go to Naraan, Kaghaan, Siripaya and Malamjabba via Islamabad....guaranteed 100% money's worth...also if you go to Pir Sowaha in Islamabad via car you will feel that you are in the movie Avatar...honest

Im going KL and Penang for my honeymoon in 5 days

In Thailand, you have to search hard for that beautiful beach. It has a few hidden gems.

Waziristan , your wife will fall in love with you all over again when she will realize that you are not a man - you are a BEAST :afridi
