Can Mohammad Hafeez be the next Misbah-ul-Haq and play till the mid-40s?

The kind of glorious form Hafeez is in. Can he play Test and Limited overs cricket for another 3-4 years at highest level.
So far he has done well in Tests, T20’s and his heroics in CT final are not forgotten. Plus he is taking wickets as well.

Depends on his form in the World Cup.

If a good show like CT, he can continue. All depends on his overall utility, really. We don't have many quality people in the bench/domestics.

Haha. I think Hafeez can play till the age of 50 if Pakistan plays all matches in the UAE and does not tour at all.
Jokes aside Hafeez looks a different class on these pitches.
Hafeez should be given the number 4 role for NZ ODIs and tests as well.
I think the real Hafeez (which has always dissappointed us) may return when we tour SA.

Will disappoint in Tests. If played.

LOIs, will be better or as good as others.

Misbah set a bad example by playing late into his 40s. Now everyone thinks they can regardless of form.

I think Misbah set a good example rather than a bad one. He showed that age should not be a barrier.

Misbah only really got going at the age Hafeez is at now so probably thought he had to make up for lost time - not that I'm saying this was a good thing.

If this is the form and batting form he shows. He might be even more useful at that age compared to Misbah

The problem is now all our players think they can play until 40 plus. Some players are done much earlier and decline quicker. Hafeez even at his peak was struggling outside of Asia, imagine now at 37 what he will do.

Don't see Hafeez batting like anything other than a tail-ender on the South African tour. I'd be very happy to be proven wrong as he can provide an extra option with the ball but historically his stats in South Africa and all countries where the ball moves around have been tepid. Steyn will undoubtedly licking his lips at the prospect of bowling to him even though Steyn is way past his prime.

Well, currently Mohammad Hafeez only has the world record all-time second worst Test batting record outside Asia.

And he was at his peak when he achieved that.

Now he is far older than retiring batsmen like Alastair Cook and AB De Villiers And he has a chance to play on and overtake Ashraful as the world’s worst ever Test batsman outside Asia.

Hafeez showing signs of Age in the field and with the bat

The ASports trio mentioned this a few days ago that Hafeez was looking sluggish and slow in the field and wasn't running to the ball that quickly as he did a few years ago. I saw a slight paunch as well. I understand he had Dengue and that is an illness which can seriously weaken you. I hope the team management utilizes him properly in what should be his final tournament for Pakistan.

Even without dengue , he is very old and physically weak now, no wonder in two matches in a row his attempted sixes were caught way short of boundary line . He has not scored much runs in form of cricket for almost a year.

Today he definitely looked old for once. It was like Pakistan had brought Javed Miandad out of the retirement home and stuck him out there in the middle.
