The recent tour by Sri Lanka and the upcoming tour by Bangladesh are no undoubtedly two of the best developments for the PCB in recent years (along with upcoming and previous PSLs), so the question is can we expect international cricket to return to Pakistan on a full-time basis and have all the teams (minus India for obvious reasons) tour Pakistan?
With the Sri Lanka tests you had a full-strength team tour Pakistan, with the Bangladesh series aswell it is almost a full-strength team minus Mushfiqur, in the PSL many established/big stars from South Africa, England, Australia, West Indies have played/will be playing. And on top of that there are other positive indications aswell like the ECB coming to Pakistan to check the security/hosting arrangements if a series in England-Pakistan was to happen. Kumar Sangakkara --who is the President of MCC-- is captaining an MCC side to Pakistan in a series next month. Wasim Khan, I have heard tried to make a strong case to Cricket Australia last year. And Shane Watson, who is the head of Australia's Players Association will no doubt also have positive things to say. Not to mention, the captains of Australia and South Africa have already been here on the World XI team. So these things should point towards something positive. I'm sure none of us would like the UAE to host another Pakistan home series.
International tournaments imo are still a little far away for too many reasons but even in that regard ICC CEO Manu Sawhney came to Pakistan a few days ago to hold preliminary discussions with the PCB and assess Pakistan's capacity inregards to hosting an international tournament in the 2023 FTP cycle.
