The recent tour by Sri Lanka and the upcoming tour by Bangladesh are no undoubtedly two of the best developments for the PCB in recent years (along with upcoming and previous PSLs), so the question is can we expect international cricket to return to Pakistan on a full-time basis and have all the teams (minus India for obvious reasons) tour Pakistan?

With the Sri Lanka tests you had a full-strength team tour Pakistan, with the Bangladesh series aswell it is almost a full-strength team minus Mushfiqur, in the PSL many established/big stars from South Africa, England, Australia, West Indies have played/will be playing. And on top of that there are other positive indications aswell like the ECB coming to Pakistan to check the security/hosting arrangements if a series in England-Pakistan was to happen. Kumar Sangakkara --who is the President of MCC-- is captaining an MCC side to Pakistan in a series next month. Wasim Khan, I have heard tried to make a strong case to Cricket Australia last year. And Shane Watson, who is the head of Australia's Players Association will no doubt also have positive things to say. Not to mention, the captains of Australia and South Africa have already been here on the World XI team. So these things should point towards something positive. I'm sure none of us would like the UAE to host another Pakistan home series.

International tournaments imo are still a little far away for too many reasons but even in that regard ICC CEO Manu Sawhney came to Pakistan a few days ago to hold preliminary discussions with the PCB and assess Pakistan's capacity inregards to hosting an international tournament in the 2023 FTP cycle.

Pakistan must play it's home matches in Pakistan now. Playing on neutral venue against any team will be one step back.

We’ll know when PCB convinces SL, Ban & Afg boards to play their Asia Cup matches in Pakistan. Getting South Africa to tour Pakistan will be the next step.

A Big-3 team tour, even for T20 matches, is still years away.

I don’t it’s years away. England will come for their next series here. The groundwork is already being laid with the MCC tour etc.

When is England scheduled to tour next?

Not really. IMO, the bigger deal than the BD tour is hosting the entire PSL in Pakistan. That is far more challenging due to the number of games and the number of players involved. That should build far more confidence than the BD tour. If PCB pulls that off successfully, it will open the flood gates significantly more.

We are scheduled to host SA for 2 WTC Tests and 3 T20Is in Jan/Feb next year.

Then NZ for LOIs (3 each) in October. NZ haven't toured Pakistan since a very long time.

Will be interesting to see how that pans out.

Is any team scheduled to tour this year apart from Bangladesh in any format?

South Africa might come. New Zealand will be comparatively harder to convince.

South Africa are a possibility.

England, Australia, New Zealand - no chance at the moment. But as more of their players play in the PSL, the pressure will increase on ECB etc.

Yes. I believe Zimbabwe and South Africa will come in November 2020, and March 2021 respectively. By the time we start hosting NZ(2021), Australia and England (both 2022) we will have had 2-3 PSL's in Pakistan, as well as those aforementioned series', which should be enough to convince them.

It will be nice to see what South Africa, Australia and England do and how the Pakistan fans reacts :odoyo

England’s cricket team will soon visit Pakistan, says British HC

MANCHESTER - British High Commissioner (HC) Dr Christian Turner on Saturday said security situation in Pakistan has improved and England’s cricket team will visit Pakistan soon to play cricket series.

Addressing a press conference in Manchester, Dr Christian Turner said Mayor of Manchester will visit Pakistan next year, along with a high-level delegation to review security situation.

The high commissioner said Pakistan is ranked in top three countries in terms of trade with the British. “Currently the trade volume between both the countries stands at 3.3 trillion pounds.”

Dr Christian Turner vowed to double the trade volume between both the countries. The UK would explore the potential of investments in such areas as clean energy, combating climate change, health, education and tourism sectors in Pakistan, he added. Back in the month of January, British High Commissioner to Pakistan Dr. Christian Turner had called on Adviser to Prime Minister on Finance Abdul Hafeez Shaikh to discuss issues related to mutual interests between both the countries.

Not sure if they are talking about the next FTP series or one outside of that.

And 3.3 trillion pounds in trade? Probably meant billion.

I’d love to see England play in Pakistan soon: British High Commissioner

Karachi: British High Commissioner (HC) to Pakistan Dr. Christian Turner has once again expressed his desire to see England cricket team play in Pakistan one-day.

British High Commissioner while talking to ARY News morning show, Bakhabar Savera also said it will be wonderful to meet legendary Pakistani pacer, Wasim Akram.

“I have also said publicly that I would love to see one day, England back here in Pakistan,” he reiterated.

“It would be honored to meet Wasim Akram as he was delightful to watch for the whole cricketing world,” he added.

Christian was also happy to see Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) touring Pakistan for three T20s and one fifty-overs match a few months back. “I was particularly pleased in February when PCB organized MCC tour, the oldest cricket club in the world to come to Pakistan under the great Sri Lankan batsman Kumar Sangakkara, it was wonderful to experience,” he added.

“Cricket is one of the deep ties between Pakistan and the UK. I hope that somehow we will enjoy Pakistan playing in England this summer as the game is in our blood,” he concluded.
