Can Pakistani batsmen survive the expected short ball barrage from the English bowlers?

Pakistan batting is particularly weak against any short stuff , slow ball bouncers or the usual quick short deliveries. England pace attack is pretty good and is well aware of pakistans weakness against short deliveries. Can pakistan find a way to not only survive against them but also score quickly? Seems like a pretty daunting task.:stokes

It will be tough. Are they playing on same wicket or a fresh wicket? Anyways if the wicket v England behaves like that v SL then we will be lucky if we can get close to 200. English bowlers have more pace and bounce and accuracy than SL bowlers.

Yes we totally will we will smack those short bowls out of the ground and then some.

We need to stop worrying this match is just a warm-up for the actual encounter which is on Sunday - India vs Pakistan CT FINAL. Now that is what we will have to plan for. This game,,, I guess we can just call it a confidence booster for the biggest ODI match in history.

We chased down 300+ against them last year at this ground, this match we were a bit too relaxed you can say, but on the big day you will see what Pakistani batting is capable of! :pkflag

In sha Allah

There is no point playing Hafeez and in particular Malik against short pitch stuff.

This is where having a test level batsmen like Azhar might help. He was at ease against the short ball today and youd expect him to be decent against the English bowlers too. The only issue with Azhar is that he doesn't rotate strike, if he increases his ability to rotate strike he would be a good limited overs bat.

He is what 32 years old

He isn't going to improve

Short balls are a risk for bowling sides against most teams, while they can buy you wickets, it's also a great scoring opportunity for batsmen who are good at hooking and pulling. This Pakistan side are rubbish at both, the best was probably Hafeez a few years ago, but he is finished now.

One thing I have noticed about Pakistan batsmen is that they are particularly brainless against short balling. It's easy to get them pulling from outside off stump as they are happy to play balls without getting in line, secondly they don't mind hitting in the air, which must be a delight for pace bowlers.

I miss Imran Nazir and Nasir Jamshed.

Hmmm, sounds interesting, and what would this propostion be?

Zaman will be peppered with them.

But Cardiff often pushes bowlers away from that length. A gentle top edge goes for six.

Hafeez will rise to the occasion with his pulls and hooks

Only fakhar and faheem are clueless against short balls. The rest of the batting order is fine, not really good st playing short balls but good enough to survive and score runs.

Their problems are more mental than anything.

Faheem hit the short balls against SL for 6 & 4.

At what pace? Sri Lankan Bowlers speed doesn't count. We are talking about anything upwards of 85 mph and well directed. These England bowlers are more skillful at that than Sri Lankan's.

Would you like to be a member of an elite group of sporting fans?

A group which can stare adversity on the face?

A group which does not abandon their beloved PCT in difficult times?

A group which spends day - nay! - months, fighting off wristslitters and padosi trolls?

A group which doesn't just support the PCT when things are going well - but stands by their side during difficult times?

A group of fans which doesn't unnecessarily bash their own teams and players, simply due to them going through a difficult patch?

A group of fans who expose the fickle (so-called) 'fans', and spread the power of positivity, when faced with overwhelming negativity around them?

Do you want to be part of.........the PakPassion Spirit Squad?!?!?!

Why not?

The bowlers besides Wood are just bowling half-trackers instead of head high-bouncers, playing into Fakhar's hands.

Two top end batsmen out to the short delivery again on a day when England were struggling to get wickets from fuller pitched deliveries. Actually Babar wasn't technically out, but in reality he's not likely to bat again. Just too used to dead pitches at home I suppose.
