Election on Oct. 19th. Pretty even at the moment in the polls between the 3 main parties, Liberals, NDP & Conservatives. The Conservatives are very anti-immigrant, pro-Israel and anti-muslim.

Ideally NDP, but I'd do anything to get rid of Steven Bush Harper. He claimed that cancelling $ 35 billion worth of F-35 is sacrificing Canada and its' allies' "freedom". Steven Harper is racist, he thinks he is clever but he is stupid. This guy is like mini, boring version of Bush 2.0. NDP or Liberal, if the pre election estimates push NDP back, i'd go with Liberals.

P.S My dad flipped off Justin Trudeau couple of years ago. He thought it was some random white guy part of the stage crew in that even my dad attended

Ideally want to vote NDP but they seem to have fallen quite a bit behind. If that continues to be the case than might vote for the liberals.

Justin Trudeau for Liberal. He is very flexible on the immigration plan, and taxes for the multiculturalism family and middle-class family. In his plan, more taxes for the rich people and low taxes on the middle-class depending on their annually income. That does contradict with other two parties. Don't get me started on Stephen Harper.

Vote for Barney Stinson

Justine Trudeau

1. He went to McGill (alumni pride)
2. He will reverse the draconian immigration laws that Harper brought
3. He promises to give tax benefits to the lower and middle class
4. Unlike with Harper, we might have an independent foreign policy now and not toe the US line on every issue

Anyone but Harper, and I am happy.

Although I like NDP, their policies are horrific, in terms of Economy:

1) They're gonna increase taxes on rich and corporations (so more lay offs would be happening, like it happened once they came to power in Alberta).
2) They're gonna increase the minimum wage to $15 (highest in G7). This will ensure small businesses are doomed, as owners have to pay more.
3) They won't be building pipelines, eventhough Canada has the more environmentally friendly record in it in the whole wold (which is detrimental to Canadian economy because building those 3 pipelines will lower the cost of refined fuel in Canada, and increase exports, increase jobs in ALL PROVINCES, not just in Alberta alone).

I was all out NDP until I actually read about these policies.

On the plus side, if NDP or Liberals come, we will:
1) Be seeing the removal of Bill C-51 and Bill C-24, which violates the Canada's charter of rights.
2) We would have a neutral foreign policy, and hopefully Canada's imagine would be improved that Harper destroyed.
3) More money towards the crappy health care we are having, thus reducing ER times.

Wait, didn't the liberals support Bill-C51?

Yeah you are right. They opposed only C-24. I read my post again and didn't realize i wrote: NDP or Liberals.

Though I may not mind Liberals too. As long as Harper is not back.

Because none of the parties have the exact policies or close enough policies of what I want, I wont' be voting this year. At the end we 3 stooges (one worse than the other two) who are going to be elected.

Thats true there is no ideal option but you should still vote, to keep the worst option out.

Wait, didn't the liberals support Bill-C51?

Ya he did, but Bill-24 along with Bill c-51 is much more dangerous. C-51 is to spy on people legally, C-24 is worse as it uses "evidence" from C-51 and allows the Canadian authorities to deport someone out of Canada without any legal rights. Harper wanted to turn Canada into the nation of Guantanamo bay. While c-51 may invade people's privacy, i don't mind it being implemented during these times. Hopefully, our action in middle east is toned down, risk reduces and we wouldn't need c-51. But for now, I don't mind it being there.

Liberal has the closest chance of defeating Steven Harper, so please consider voting for Liberal if you wan't Harper out, but you can vote for anyone, avoid Harper for sake of Canada :p.

Yeah already decided that I am gonna vote for liberal.

I heard Stephen Harper is like Bush, all Pro-Israel and racist, so it'd be better for him not to get reelected.

Tho i don't think Canadian politics has much influence on world affairs.

Only because usually Canadian views mirror the Americans.

If Canada comes out with an opposing view, people will listen. Canada has a lot of soft power.

My boss who is a desi is very surprisingly pro-conservative party and he is basing his assessment on the fact that the Conservatives are better for the economy.

I'm in Alberta and definitely voting for the Conservatives. They have been excellent for Alberta.

My dad voted for Conservatives while I voted for Liberals.

Not entirely correct.

Well then. Now this is something both of us can agree on :jf

Btw, guys the liberals are starting to push ahead, so I'm going to be voting for them.

The three party system is so skewed towards the Conservatives currently who will have most, if not all, of the votes from conservative minded, right-winged population. Where as the left are split between NDP and Liberals which will prevent either one of them from forming a majority. In the past the Liberals would have had no problem, but now with rising NDP party and the pathetic excuse of a party the Liberals were the past few elections (remember Ignatieff? :)), and hence the shift towards NDP popularity ) it won't be possible.

This is no brainer. Good to know you are gonna vote for Justin too. He could use all the help he can. I heard that the immigration from Pakistan through sponsor has been extended to four years now. I shudder to think what else Stephen Harper has planned for.

I don't think Trudeau will be any more sympathetic to immigrants. All of it is just election talk right now.

Well, he is already being sympathetic, hence counter proposal bill to ease on immigration through monitoring spy program for the security rather than direct deportation without trial. That being said, being selective for immigration policy might be the best move for now taking many factors into the account.

always nice to see people that would vote for conservative policies in pakistan coming abroad and suddenly switching to the liberal vote lol

I was gonna vote for NDP because of Jack Layton, then I actually followed all the debates and few campaigns this time around. I'm going with Justin. My vote and My dad's vote goes to Liberal. My dad's vote is a sympathy vote as he had flipped of Justin after near car collision after an event. Initially my dad thought he was part of the stage crew. Justin was kind, apologized and admitted that it was his fault.

Was deciding between NDP and Liberals, but I know that in my riding it'll be either NDP or Conservatives so going to vote NDP

My boss who is a desi is very surprisingly pro-conservative party and he is basing his assessment on the fact that the Conservatives are better for the economy.

Is he with Indian background or Pakistani?
I have noticed some Indian background Desis supporting conservative for their mild anti-Islamic stance.

Conservatives are not good for the economy. They destroyed it infact in the last 10 years. I am from Conservative country, Alberta, and people just blindly follow them instead of thinking. Thankfully, we got a change recently provincewide as people were getting sick of the tories. I hope it is the same in federal election too.

This election has become a Harper vs anyone else who is not Harper election.

If you don't like any of the 3 parties, go spoil your ballot or vote Green.

Voted Liberals an hour ago. My riding is an NDP stronghold.

I thought a lot to vote NDP but in the end decided to go with the Liberals merely because he is very young and hopefully will bring in fresh ideas and make Canada even a greater country.

By 10:00 pm tonight, us Canadians will have officially kicked Harper out of office and reclaimed our country, InshAllah. Congratulations to all my fellow Canadians who have continued to heave Steve, one vote at a time.

Now if only the Americans wake up and let Bernie Sanders run their country, North America will definitely be great again.

Hopefully Harper wins let the Brown people have a medicine of their own discrimination no offense to anyone.

so this Justin guy is the canadian bilawal zardari?didnt expect canadians to vote for a political dynasty...

The main reason that immigrants from Pakistan and from other 'brown' countries of origin were accepted in Canada is because of Pierre Trudeau, Justin's father and the Liberals. The Conservatives are very racist and have made their immigration policies very strict so that it is now difficult, if not impossible in most cases for applicants from non-white countries to come to Canada.

Canadians were always a very tolerant people but the Harper effect has made them more anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim recently. He supports Israel blindly no matter what whereas previously Canada was more neutral in the Middle Eastern politics. He only wants to take refugees from Syria who are not Muslim. He broke off diplomatic ties with Iran. If Harper wins, then the next 5 years will be very difficult for Muslims in Canada.

That is what everyone thought. He ended up being much better than everyone expected. My views on him was different few months ago than now. He got my vote.

Harper is an idiot, he is trying to scare everyone. He is not only racist, but he is so backward, he wants Canada to look like the USA. His attack ads are ridiculous, misleading and only 80+ year olds would fall for them. Besides Canada is a settler colony and it was recognized as a multicultural country over 35+ years ago. I

1.Brown people's country belongs to brown people
2. White people's country belongs to white people, except for UK and France because it is a revenge for colonizing
3. Aboriginal people who's land were stolen by white people belongs to everyone. Besides Harper refused to conduct investigation on 100+ native women who went missing.
4. Canada played and won the first ever International cricket match
5. Cricket was Canada's national sport when it was established, so i feel entitled to be part of Canada.

A Harper victory is all but ruled out. Even if he manages to win a minority government, which is highly unlikely, neither the Liberals nor the NDP will back him.

Harper was basically the George Bush of Canada and it was sad to see Canada losing it's identity as the most tolerant and diverse country in the world, as a result. With Trudeau's Liberals in power, that will change, InshAllah.

I agree bro that for a Canadian brown person Harper is worst but here is the thing i have always felt a bit of discrimination from brown people towards white people in north america its just my opinion.

Uhhh no, if you looked at the ratings Trudeau and the Liberals were dead last out of the three parties, and we're talking about a party who has ruled Canadians politics for 70 years in the last century. Even with Justin at the head with the weight and reputation that he carried with his last name he was trailing badly behind the other two leaders, until the last month where he dominated in the debates.

The ABH (Anyone but Harper) segment of the population had initially thought that Mulcair was the guy to replace Harper. However, when the Niqab, refugee and 'War on Terror' issues came to the fore and Quebec saw Mulcair supporting the Niqab, welcoming the refugees and rejected military action against ISIS, they left the NDP in droves.

The ABH group then started supporting the Liberals who are ironically going to win this election due to Harper's divisive politics. Mulcair and the NDP need to be complimented for keeping their dignity intact and standing by their principles even when their support started waning.

Just came back from voting for Justin Trudeau. Quite literally :)), he was riding from my constituency.

Ideally I would vote NDP but they have slim chances of winning so I'm going for liberal. Better to strengthen and ensure a liberal win then hoping for ndps win and what if conservatives are re elected?

Guys, global news have declared Justin Trudeau as next PM. Now remains to be seen if it's a minority or majority government.

Ah I may be wrong, Liberals might form a majority due to strategic voting and NDP supportees going to Liberals in droves

Liberals = Slow Poision.. .Conservative= Fast Poison... let hope real change... Good Policy for muslims and immigrants.....

Oh Harper. You handed the win to Trudeau by focussing on the wrong things in the campaign. This country is too 'bend over backwards and don't offend anyone' to support you on the niqab.

I'm actually surprised at how underwhelming the NDP turned out to be after the initial promise.

USA is different, Canada is different. American publics are literally oblivious to anything. The US govt can say things such as "if you question us, you are against our country" and its enough for people to shut up. In Canada its different, those things won't work out here. 70 years of the last century was ruled by liberals. Harper isn't even a good conservative leader, he is just an idiot.

Couple of Calgary ridings going to Liberals.

Last time that happened was in 1968.

The guy who became PM then - Pierre Trudeau.

The circle of life.

Congrats brother. We should be proud if this outcome. Maybe now Cricket Canada will get more funding and players like Ashish Bagai wouldn't have to retire prematurely

The Toronto blue jays are doing well in playoffs, Steven Harper is out and Justin Trudeau is our new PM with majority. It is a good day to be a Canadian

So happy Harper is gone. I can't believe sheeples still voted for conservatives in Alberta. Seems like they prefer being a second class citizen.

All Punjabi candidates at Brampton East. Liberal wins. Liberal candidate with Red turban and Conservative candidate with Blue Turban. This is called people representing their own ridings.

That is how it should be. Vote for the right person in your riding. But this turned this into an ABH election.

Cause they want freedom for women by banning niqab and buying F-35 for $35billion = freedom for Canada and Allies.

Did you know that Pierre Trudeau was arrested in Pakistan in 1948? I recall reading he had crossed the border from India without a visa.

He wasn't in politics then, and was probably just a student traveling. But it's a fun little factoid all the same.

Thank for the fun fact. Never knew that.

Just because you got the raw deal [Modi] that doesn't mean you should wish the same on others. What posses you to say thing like that? Just being curious, not taking dig at you.

Loving the despaired looks on Conservative supporters hahhahahaa. I'M LOVING THIS !!!!!
