China donates office equipment to Pakistan's parliament

China has donated 330 pieces of office equipment including laptops, computers, scanners, printers and projectors to Pakistan's parliament, reported China's Xinhua news agency.

The handover ceremony was held at the parliament in Islamabad on Thursday. Senate Secretary Amjed Pervez Malik and Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Sun Weidong signed a handover document.

Senate Chairman Mian Raza Rabbani expressed gratitude over the donation. He said the donation will help improve the working conditions of the parliament. He highlighted the friendship and exchanges between the two countries.

The Chinese ambassador said enhancing bilateral exchanges are of great importance to strengthening the mutually beneficial cooperation, especially to promote the bilateral policy coordination and people-to-people exchanges.

He expressed the hope that the two sides will continue making joint efforts, particularly in connection with the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor so as to better benefit the people of the two countries.

Our politicians are idiots taking such devices from a foreign government

Why would Pak accept donated office equipment from China?
Surely Pak can afford a few dozen new laptops and printers. Even a startup IT firm can afford these things.

Sounds like a troll news.

If the Pakistani parliament is anything like the Lok Sabha and these devices indeed have pinhole cameras or something like that, they'll see nothing but a circus in action.

They will see nothing. Not much happens in parliament.

Our parliament barely has any attendance. The person spying on it will have the most boring job in the world.

our parliament has only 4-5 interesting sessions every year

i was watching a lok sobha proceeding once and man was it a circus!

IF the Chinese have bugged the laptops or whatever..might be the first time in history they will regret doing so because the Pakistans parliament doesn't do jack. Listening in on the Parliamentary conversation is going to be a total waste of time and energy.

wow this sounds so lame if true. Almost like Pakistan parliament is some sort of charity case.

It's normal, weak countries do send presents to strong countries as a gesture of obedience.

Hahaha how could you say that with a straight face. China 'donated' stuff for your parliament. Tbf Pakistan should reject it, its kinda embarrassing. Or maybe ask China to say that they donated it for poor schools or universities. This way it wouldn't sound bad.

Was it also embarrassing when strong kings used to accept gifts from weak kings?...
I do not think so...

You should not be sarcastic , when you know that most of the people will not get it, as they dnt have a good sense of humour.

I've got an old office chair that the Pakistan government can have.

Given I have an old pair of airconditioned socks (that is with holes in them) that I am ready to donate.
