Chomsky has been the biggest influence in my life. A truly remarkable mind.
The irony though of the OP presenting the manufacturing consent model seems to have been lost on him.
One of the clearest examples of manufactured consent is religion, especially the Abrahamic faiths, in particular Islam.
I bet the OP has never even contemplated that.
In what way?
What is your understanding of the concept?
It would be insightful if the OP could demonstrate that the same mechanisms don't apply to Islam.
Imo, human rights, freedom of speech etc are also manufactured consent.Chomsky has been the biggest influence in my life. A truly remarkable mind.

Then according to that criteria each and every ideology, religious or otherwise, follows the same principle. You can steal a cow, in the name of religion, from someone who’s sole bread and butter depends on it and it will slowly and steadily kill that person. This way can be less violent but it’s all the same as murdering and lynching someone for the same purpose but for other religion’s bidding. The dichotomy of ideology is that where unites people it divides them at the same time. It manufactures consent and at the same time it bears the brunt of dissenting voices and actions.
You can lead a horse to water, you can't make it think
Imo, human rights, freedom of speech etc are also manufactured consent.
I used to read Chomsky's articles in The New Statesmen back in the day and his insights were truly frightening assuming they were true. He was hated by the establishment for his alternative news reporting.

You made the claim that it applies, so I was wondering in what way you think it applies?
And also why you think Chomsky is 100% correct in his theory?
Also, I am not the op.
What is your understanding of the concept?
We need to establish that we're on the same footing before we delve in to it any further.
That's irrelevant to your claim. You just need to explain it and let me worry about whether or not I can understand it.
It's very relevant.
Either you have an understanding of the concept or you don't.
OK thanks for avoiding my question, you obviously do not have an answer. Carry on with your false claims.
Sure, why not, as you have confirmed that this model applies to religion, which is ten of thousand years old consent.According to the model proposed by Chomsky?
