Musharaff once again shutting the Indian media up. The guy has time and time again effectively highlighted the hypocricy of the indian media. First it was Arnab "rabbit ears" Goswammi, and now it's Rajdeep Sardesai. Both absolutely despicable human beings.

Arnab is a loud mouth aunty who would yell and yell and yell to prove his wrong point correct.

He is someone who would use patriotism when he is proven wrong, a perfect example would Rishi Kapoor's interview where he asked him "Do you not love India'? lol

KAPTAAN not Captaaan

Indo-Pak relations will improve with Imran Khan as premier: Wasim Bari

Former Pakistan captain Wasim Bari is hopeful that the country’s relation with India will improve with Imran Khan as its Prime Minister.

Bari — who played 81 Tests and 51 ODIs for Pakistan — congratulated Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan after his party dominated the recently concluded general elections. He added that Khan’s likeable personality will play a pivotal role in improving Indo-Pak relations.

“I would like to congratulate Imran Khan on his victory,” Bari said while talking to Express News. “I’m hopeful that Indo-Pak relations will improve with him as premier because of his good reputation globally.”
Bari also appreciated the gesture shown by PTI to invite former Indian cricketers and showbiz stars for Khan’s oath-taking ceremony.

“The arrival of Khan’s friends from across the border will portray a soft image of Pakistan,” said Bari.

Bari further stated that Khan will deliver in accordance with the expectations of the nation in the same manner as his illustrious cricketing career.

“Everyone is aware of the fact that Khan is a man filled with confidence and I’m hopeful that he will repay the trust placed in him by the people of Pakistan, just like he did in cricket,” he said.

Khan’s party emerged as the single largest in the National Assembly in the 2018 General Elections held on July 25 and is expected to be sworn in as the next Prime Minister on August 11.

Belated Congrats from a life long fan.

I always knew he was born with a special blessings of being an achiever - some people do get things as they command; there are talented & hard working people, but not everyone become successful. But, this I never thought I'll see in his life time - he is almost 66. In a 3rd world country with very little electoral education among majority voters and in general family/legacy dominated politics, for someone making his way up from bottom to top in 2 decades is probably unique of it's kind. Surely, surely this gentleman has to be the greatest Pakistani living - his success as PM can elevate him above even QeA MA Jinnah. I can recall sometimes in 1996, when Imran lost his first MNA election.

Probably, he could have been a dummy PM long back had he sold his dignity to Gen. Musharraf, that's Imran Khan - stubborn, uncompromising, proud to the level of arrogance, but a great leader and human being - extremely gifted, hardworking, charismatic, patriotic and honest to the core. Among all his qualities, I always praised two - the greatest competitor I have ever seen in any sports filed; you can crash Imran to death, but you won't beat him till last drop of blood left and a true leader who would call a spade as spade & dice as dice, he won't be unjust to his players. Not the most naturally gifted cricket captains ever, but he knew his team, their strengths/weaknesses and how to bring best out of his players - that's the greatest quality of a motivational leader, his players would have died for him.

I wish good luck to Khan and hope this brings a change to Pakistan as a nation (And, would expect better words from him for Bangladesh & it's people as PAK' PM in future).

Japanese Ambassador Takashi Kurai on Friday visited Banigala to call on Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan to congratulate him on his party's performance in the general elections.

Ambassador Kurai also discussed matters of bilateral interest with the PTI chairman.

Apart from the Japanese ambassador, the British envoy and other foreign dignitaries have also visited the PTI chief in recent days.

The envoys of China, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have all called on the PTI chairman since his party emerged as the winner of the July 25 polls.

Besides, India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also telephoned Imran Khan to congratulate him over his party's victory, saying that India was "ready to enter a new era of relations with Pakistan", according to a PTI statement.

The first time I met Imran Khan was on the field, during India’s tour of Pakistan in 1978-79. The two countries had met to play a series after 17 long years! The first things I noticed about this six-foot Pathan were his aggression, passion, commitment, and self-confidence. Not to mention his long locks and fearsome run-up. And, fearsome he was, because I got hit by a vicious bouncer from him and had to be stretchered off!

It was a high-profile, sensitive series played in the shadow of the 1971 war. It was always going to be a hard-fought one, and hostilities towards us were high—from players and spectators. It was not less than a war. Imran played it hard, but I appreciate his gesture of coming over to shake hands and say “well played” after I did well in the final Test.

Over the years, as we played each other more often, the relationship between the teams improved. By the time the 1982-83 series came along, both sides were more relaxed with each other. There was less sledging and aggression, and the interaction between players was cordial, as was the reception from the supporters. The more we played, the better we got to know each other, both on and off the field.

I was spared much of the [earlier] hostility, mostly because I was Punjabi. The fact that my father played all of his cricket in Pakistan helped, too. I was treated differently, like I was one of them. I was never sledged or abused, but some of my teammates suffered. Knowing I came from the same background, most of the Pakistan players, Imran included, spoke to me in Punjabi.

What I liked about Imran, the cricketer, was the way he led from the front. As captain, he would perform and work harder than anyone else, setting an example for the boys. Basically, he was a trendsetter for Pakistani cricket. He had a very good 1982-83 series, and his passion was there for all to see. As was mine. He and I were more or less on the same ‘war’ footing on the field. There was no compromising on the field. Off it, though, we would have friendly discussions.

Rarely would we get an opportunity to meet outside a series, because we could not visit each others’ countries frequently. But, I did meet him in London in the early 1990s at a concert he had organised to raise funds for the cancer hospital he was building in memory of his mother Shaukat Khanum. That was another passion of his that he has succeeded in fulfilling.

Imran was pretty much loved and liked wherever he went, not least by the Indian public. Cricket lovers enjoyed watching him in action, and could not help but admire his passion. He was very popular, especially with the ladies! I have been witness to this: whenever we were at a party, the suave Mr Khan would make a late entrance—intentionally, of course.

As soon as he appeared at the door, everything would stop and the focus would shift to him.

Imran is one of those guys who likes to be the “captain” and likes to control things. All his hard work in politics has paid off, and he is now going to be the prime minister. This will be one of the most challenging tests of his career. It is not as simple as dealing with 11 guys on the field. Here, there are different people and parties, different scenarios and policies. I wish him all the best.

He is very passionate about his country and people, and I am sure he will do a lot of good. I am hoping his becoming the PM will be a good thing for Pakistan, and also for relations with India. I would love to see peace at the border. The challenge will be how well he tackles this issue.

Former Pakistan Test and ODI captain Waqar Younis believes that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan and his team will do what is best for the country.

Speaking to Geo News, Younis welcomed the change and expressed hopes of a better future for Pakistan.

The 46-year-old said there were a lot of areas that needed improvement in cricket and other industries, and that Imran was aware of the challenges facing the sports landscape.

“The good thing is Imran has played cricket and that also top-level cricket. No one is a better judge of it than him. He has been thinking about changes in the sport for a long time," said Younis.

The former coach pointed out Imran had always been talking about making changes in the domestic circuit, to have fewer teams, better playing conditions, better cricket stadiums and a better standard of cricket overall.

On his meeting with his former captain at his Bani Gala residence after the PTI won the July 25 election, Younis said, “It was our responsibility to meet him and give him hope. We discussed a number of things at the meeting which will hopefully bring improvements.”

• Minister says outdated, corrupt system based on nepotism was defeated on July 25 two years ago
• PML-N, PPP question fairness of last election, allege mandate was stolen and given to PTI

ISLAMABAD/LAHORE: As the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government celebrated the second anniversary of its success in the July 25, 2018 general election on Saturday, opposition parties used the occasion to accuse the government of having failed in ensuring the promised governance.

A message came from Informa*tion Minister Senator Shibli Faraz, who felicitated the nation, terming July 25, 2018 as a historic day in the country’s democratic history as on that day the people of Pak*istan had joined hands to lay the foundation of a new thought process.

In the recorded message released to the media, the minister said that an outdated, privileged and corrupt system based on nepotism and favoritism was defeated in the general election on that day.

He said the founders of the outdated system had only pursued their personal interests by ruining the national institutions and economy.

Leaders of both main opposition parties — the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Pakistan Peoples Party — held press conferences to reject the government’s claims.

In Lahore, PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal questioned the fairness of the elections, while in Islamabad PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari claimed that 90 per cent of the “Forms 45” were still either not available or without signatures of the political agents.

However, Shibli Faraz reminded them of the circumstances in which the PTI took charge. “When the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf came to power, the country was mired in the debt trap and facing serious economic difficulties and challenges. However under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan the country set off on the path of reforms with a new determination,” he said.

He highlighted the achievements of the government, including vigorously highlighting the Kashmir issue at the international level.

The achievements of the government at the home front, Mr Faraz said, included success of Kamyab Naujawan programme, uniform curricula, the Billion Tree Tsunami project, acceleration in work on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor projects, start of construction of the dam and the launch of a housing project for low-income groups.

“This is the beginning of a new journey of development in the country,” the minister said.

Murad Saeed, federal minister for communication and postal services, also held a press conference. He came prepared at the Press Information Department (PID), armed with old pictures and video clips to slam the leadership of both the PPP and the PML-N. However, the system at the PID could not support his media files and they remained inaudible.

Mr Saeed started by giving historic references about the start of politics by Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, showing his pictures with the military dictator of that time Gen Ayub Khan.

“Who was your daddy, when you took the oath,” he asked, referring to Mr Bhutto and continued to respond to every accusation made by the PPP chairperson against the incumbent government and PM Khan.

He said that billboards showing atrocities in held Kashmir were taken down during the visit of then Indian premier Rajiv Gandhi to Islamabad in the late 1980s when Benazir Bhutto was in power.

“Before you ask us about our performance we have the right to ask about your achievements during five decades and three-generation rule in Sindh,” Mr Saeed said, adding, “do you remember the 50 years old slogan of ‘Roti, Kapra aur Makan’? Has it been delivered to the masses of Sindh?”

He said Sindh was the only province where children were dying of hunger and “dog bite is a serious issue and that too in the constituency of Mr junior Zardari.”

He soon turned his guns towards the PML-N and showed picture of Nawaz Sharif with Gen Ziaul Haq.

“This man went to film actor Rangila to become a film actor but failed. Later he made efforts to become a cricketer but it was soon found out that he performed well only with the help of umpires,” Mr Saeed said about the PML-N leader. “His politics was a product of Gen Zia and Gen Jilani.”

He showed footage of Khawaja Asif addressing a think tank in the US but as the audio system was not working the minister said that Mr Asif had claimed in the US that his party was liberal and described Imran Khan as a staunch and practicing Muslim.

The minister reiterated that the leadership of the PML-N and the PPP were corrupt and used state resources to benefit their businesses or that of their friends. That was why subsidies were provided to various sectors including sugar, energy, wheat, etc and the respective governments did not conduct any inquiry into their malpractices while they were fleecing the ordinary citizens.

Besides, National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser in a video statement said that July 25 was the day for the victory of the middle class in general elections.

Earlier, PML-N secretary general Ahsan Iqbal told reporters that two years ago on this date, the PML-N’s mandate was stolen and given to the PTI, and since then the masses have been facing its disastrous consequences.

Mr Iqbal said that according to a public survey before the 2018 polls, the PML-N was winning 120 National Assembly seats and the PTI 65. “But massive rigging was done to steal the PML-N’s mandate and give it to the PTI. Even when the results of July 25, 2018 polls started coming in, the PML-N was leading. Then the Results Transmission System stopped functioning and the desired results were achieved,” he alleged.

He said that during its tenure the PML-N had overcome energy crisis, maintained law and order, eliminated terrorism and strengthened the economy, which was why the people had voted for it, but their mandate was stolen.

The former federal minister said that country’s economy, which was progressing by 5.8 per cent two years ago, was now showing negative figures. “And this has happened because this is the most inept and incompetent government in the country’s history,” he alleged.

He said whatever the PML-N government had achieved on the economic front was lost by the PTI government. “For good defence, a strong economy is needed and for a strong economy, a stable political system is required,” he said, adding that economy could not be run through political victimisation of the National Accountability Bureau and handing over to mafias. The PML-N leader alleged that CPEC was placed on the backburner by the incumbent government as it was busy only on social media.

“This government has miserably failed in achieving the tax collection target and also introduced two failed amnesty schemes,” he said and demanded the country be run through the Constitution otherwise it will lag behind even African countries in the coming days.

“During our government, the US dollar rate was between Rs100 and Rs110, but now it has crossed Rs160 and our currency is the weakest in the region. This is because of the imposition of the inept PTI government on the people,” he lamented.

The former interior minister said a multi-party conference would be held after Eid and a strategy framed to get rid of this government.

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Communications and Postal Services Murad Saeed has said the 2018 general election smashed the two-party nexus of PML-N and PPP in the country.

Saeed’s comments come on the back of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s press conference where he termed July 25, the day the PTI came into power as a “black day” in the country’s history and PML-N’s Ahsan Iqbal claims that if the 2018 election had not been stolen, his party would have won 120 seats

The federal minister said those who were challenging the legitimacy of the elected government should pick up a history book to find out how leaders such as Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif were introduced in politics.

“The people of Pakistan remember how [Zulfikar Ali] Bhutto got himself inducted in Sikander Mirza’s cabinet by writing a 'flattering' letter,” Saeed said. “Nawaz [Sharif] was launched by General Zia and Lt Gen Jeelani and Islami Jamhoori Ittihad were set up to bring him in power.”

Saeed added that PPP President Shehbaz Sharif was even today looking for ‘selectors’ to get a chance to become prime minister.

Speaking about the PTI’s struggle, Saeed said PM Imran founded PTI in 1996 and struggled for over 22 years before coming to power. “Imran Khan was offered premiership after 2002 elections, which he rejected,” the minister said, adding that the PTI came into power in KP in 2013 and in 2018 in Centre with the support of the masses who voted for the most popular politician of the country, Imran Khan.

Hitting out at Bilawal, the minister said former president Asif Ali Zardari's name was mentioned in the JIT reports of fake accounts and sugar scam, but his son was giving lectures on morality and righteousness.

“Every Pakistani knows that the funds allocated for health, education and other sectors of Sindh were transferred in the accounts of Asif Zardari and Faryal Talpur,” he remarked.

Saeed further said that after 50 years, Kashmir issue was raised in the UN Security Council twice during the last year which was proof that the Kashmir case had been successfully advocated by Prime Minister Imran Khan at the international forum.

Speaking about the PML-N government, Saeed said they were shy of mentioning the name of Kulbhushan Jadhav during their tenure. Asking the opposition to act responsibly if some legislation was being done in line with ICJ's rules, Saeed said it was the previous government which accepted the jurisdiction of the ICJ on the Indian spy case.

About his government’s achievement’s, Saeed said they announced the Ehsaas programme to support the poor segments of the society. He added that the budget of the Ehsaas programme has been enhanced from Rs192 billion to Rs208 billion this year and over 200 shelter homes were established across the country for the destitute.
