What's new

Congratulations Rohit Sharma [First ODI 250]

Congrats to him.

Personally though this just highlights how garbage ODI cricket in India has become. Lets remove any semblance of threat for the batsmen and watch average players blast a 200. Just a longer version of t20.

Dont know if its just me but I find boundaries on these pitches yawn inducing, wheres the excitement when its so one sided???
Thivagar will be happy though, perera going at over 6 :D

i didn't bet on him today, i slept

I woke up, opened cricinfo app saw"Rohit highest ODI scores something something" and i went back to sleep.

Some cleanest hitting ever witnessed!!

Having said that, there've been 4 ODI double hundreds ever, & all 4 have been scored by Indians in India. No doubt Indian PM's 'Make in India' is being taken seriously by Indian cricket team ;-)

Awesome sense of humor! ROFL

I know he was dropped a few times but, damn is that a incredible stat.

Well Done to him. I've always backed him, loved the way he plays and I just wish some fans give him a chance.

Incredible knock. Doubt anyone else can play like this on a motorway! Maybe Hafeez? :P

Highway or not, it takes skill to score on surfaces and he seems like a highway expert, no one comes close to him when bashing the bowlers on a runway.

He can make India win matches on flat pitches but everyone including Indians know he's a sitting duck if conditions suit bowling.

Congratulations to Rohit Sharma! Great hitting!

I must mention here two strange coincidences with these two double centuries by him:

When he got to it the last time, I predicted him to get there when he was batting on around 80.

This time around I went a step ahead, like he himself did, and uttered "Double century for Rohit Sharma!" as soon as I read that India are batting first and that he is back after recovering from his injury.

However, I must admit here that I said it more or less mockingly seeing the opposition, the bowling attack and of course..... the great pitches of India. No offence to any of my Indian friend, but this isn't even fun anymore.

Again, congratulations to him.

I suggest all of you to gear up for the next ODI.

Congrats Rohit , one of the sweetest timers of the cricket ball around , hopefully this isnt another false dawn for him .Would be a real shame to see him averaging single digits and looking as clueless as he did on the away tours immediately after scoring his last double ton .

SL are 118/4 after 22 overs on same pitch :D

Wow , this guy will smash Mitchell Johnson in the next series. Mark my words.

For all the opportunities he has squandered so far , he needs to win us the World Cup.

Him performing and consequently confirming a spot in WC is good news for Pakistan ;-)

Great great innings!

I hope he carries this form to overseas , one of the most elegant batsmen around.

Will need lots of luck and will have to hit from ball one. Rohit was dropped three times today.

This is one of those things which misrepresents facts. He was dropped once early which is normal. You get such chances every now and then.

Other two drops were after he crossed 200.

Not sure whether to laugh or applaud.

Bit of both. So well done Rohit, should be re-re-named to Lotsofhits Sharma now!

Amazing innings.

A remarkable achievement.

Crazy innings this. But my favorite one is still Saeed snwar's 194 vs India.
To score that much in those years was amazing. All my myth about Indian bowling was busted that day. Lol

Congrats to him well played. Din't get to see it or any of the other matches (prolly for the best :)) ) but that must have been one heck of a knock.

Think it was actually twice, the other time the umpire had called a waist high no ball.

I reckon it's near on impossible to score 260 without a chance or two in 50 overs.

You have to go at a fair few balls to score that many that quickly.

Just saw the CI headline for the match, Rohit beat SL by 13 runs :))

Bashing him for getting the highest score on a flat pitch doesn't make sense because that's the only way to get a double century in ODIs. No one is going to hit a double ton on a seaming track. Simple as that.

It takes amazing skill to score like that. What a knock!

264 Runs
173 Balls
33 Fours
9 Sixes

OnThisDay in 2014, Rohit Sharma set the stage on fire 🔥 🔥 & registered the highest individual score in the ODIs.

Can anyone break this record?
My predictions - KL Rahul, Prithwi Shaw,Warner, Finch, Roy, Fakhar or Rohit himself
