If misbah in sha allah achieves this mark , he ll become the 7th pakistani to score 5000 or more runs

Hope he achieves the milestone. Would love to see him score more on hard away tours.

Yes. Failed us badly last time in Sydney.

He was in terrible form back then and was dropped shortly after. Came back after the spot fixing disaster and he has been a completely different player since then.

He should easily be able to reach this milestone. I am more interested in him upping his batting average to 50+

Must score daddy hundreds as YK. Misbah is consistent but gets out after reaching 100.

If he can score a 200 or 300 (highly unlikely due to batting position) then he can easily average 50+.

For me, personally, he is ATG from Pakistan as a pure bat ;)

Lol. Who cares about 5K. YK will eat him up if that shows on the board. Would rather him just score a 50.

The guy has to be the slowest 5k run scorer? He has played what 80 odd matches? and yet we are counting down on his 5k mark. Amazing!! speechless!!:)))

why would he care he has scored almost the double amount of runs just playing 40 odd more games.

:19:

This is Misbah's 126th innings.

Steve Waugh got there in 125.
Atherton, Vaughan 124.
Mark Waugh 123.
Inzi, Gilly 122.
Border, Azharuddin, Kallis, Clarke 120.

3 or 4 more innings than some great batsmen... yep, slowest to 5k, worst batsman, etc. :thumbsup

Misbah's situation is a like a losing gambler chasing after a last win before quitting.
I dont feel Misbah will retire if the decision is left to him.
Behind closed doors , the PCB may offer him to retire voluntarily or the will force him to retire like Hafeez.
But the cool guy will be back as coach soon and will not produce any good players just like in his playing days and will encourage grouping rifts in the team.

half of the names you included are all rounders..and also the quality of the runs also matter. We all know the limitations of Misbah as batsman. I believe he scored 2/3 of his runs on flat roads of UAE and against spinners. I'm sure you are aware of his healthy average in 20s in SL,SA,Aus,Eng,NZ..slightly better in WI I guess.
Also the fact that out of his 6 odd hundreds he has 5 scored at UAE's one flattest ground.

You're moving the goal-posts now. Original point was 'slowest to 5000'.

Erm...what? Only Kallis is considered an all-rounder, and Gilly if you want to include WKeeping.

Over achiever.

Has not learnt a single thing in his career.

Thanks God as nightmare is over.

49 away from 5000 test runs
hope misbah gets couple of centuries also in his last test series
#ThankYouMisbah

Thankfully he has announced his retirement, and so I will only cheer for him now and clap for him once he gets to the milestone. :salute

the way he's going he'll have to play the whole day tomorrow to get to a 50

Highest average outside Asia in ODIs out of all the Asian batsmen to have played ODIs. Next.

I hope he survives today to achieve that feat, new ball will seriously challenge him.

Averages 37 in NZ and 40 in England.

If you're gonna use stats, at least get it right.

Average has taken a hit but he's had a test career that he can be extremely proud of. A great cricketer and classy man.

Pakistan's own Clive Lloyd and one of the top five captains from Asia.

Some illustrious names in that 5000+ club. Good for Misbah to punch above his weight.

Also fully expect Azhar Ali to join this club in this series or next. He is only 300 runs away.

He is good but overrated by many here.

Congrats on scoring 5K runs and a very fine career . He will be really proud of his achievements.

Misbah should be able to retire as a proud man. 5k+ runs at 48+ average and mostly a good run as a captain.

great achievement, now a series win will be icing on the cake, would be a perfect farewell series then

Great way to start off his final series hope he performs and goes out on a high along with YK.

When the prophecy was told
He came back as a coach within 2 years of retiring
You are a legend mate :misbah2
