On Sunday, Prime Minister Imran Khan took to Twitter to urge world leaders and heads of international financial institutions to come up with a debt relief initiative for developing countries. However, instead of his message, the prime minister's Ralph Lauren polo t-shirt was the topic of discussion on social media.

A section of social media really loved the new look by PM Imran and didn't shy from voicing their opinion.

According to a listing on eBay of what seems to be a similar item, the top costs £53.79, which if converted into Pakistani rupees, amounts to Rs11,229.61.

However, Geo.tv has been unable to independently verify the cost as the outfit does not seem to be available anymore.

This all started from the journos, who definitely have other things to do... but why waste time on actual journalism and content when you can just troll on social media, right?

So is it wrong to expect the PM of the country to be:
- Leading by example.
- Live within your means.

Or Riyasat-e-Madina rules only apply in selected scenarios?

What are you even trying to mean? So you think a £53 top is expensive? I am a from a middle class family and have several ralph tops in my wardrobe even now.

Bet same people did not say a word when Nawaz and Zardari looted this poor nation and wore crores of rupees worth of watches.

What ever Khan does, there is a problem with some people. Even fazool log have issues with Khan. The issue is not Khan but your mindsets.

Well I was talking about common persons, journalists should not do this

They are not journalists but paid lifafas. They will do anything that their masters would tell them too. Then they cry about media freedom, no other country media has more freedom then these waste of oxygens.

You are not the global benchmark on anything, so not sure why you are using yourself as an example.

I know that Geo reporter may be nitpicking and its a minor thing but nevertheless he has point. Our politicians and generals live a life of luxury compared to their counterparts in many western countries. This is what this thread is about.

I can buy copy shirts in my local souk - how would you know its real?

Should Imran have come in a "phatee huee banyan" when making this speech?

So who is the benchmark?

Wake up and smell the coffee, wearing a Ralph top is not living a life of luxury. I think you have not been out much. Surely, many western leaders have tops worth more then £53. You are just wasting your time and making an issue of nothing.

These are the same people who would criticise Khan if he worse a simple top, Salwar kameez by saying Khan is the PM, he should be wearing nice clothes as hes representing Pakistan.

Its a minor thing, is notpicking but still has a point :s lol. Move on and focus on more important issues. We all know the reputation of this journalist.

The same people who have an issue with Imran Khan's supposedly expensive shirt had no problems when Nawaz Sharif strutted around with a million dollar rolex on his wrist.

So wearing a £50 shirt is showing off luxury. Your losing it.

And if he did, they would call it draamabaazi. The Kaptaan has made these losers literally go mad.

Some people are just pathetic Theyd find anything to complain How is this even an issue?

Very cheap if it's Polo Ralph Lauren.

In the UK Boris paid £60 for this absolute disaster of a haircut but nobody is complaining. :)

I wouldn't want to be this guys friend if he thinks £50 top is luxuary. Whats next? A £15/20 meal is luxury too lol Would be a shodha friend :)

They think the Kaptaan wearing anything is luxury, their own crooks wear gold watches 1000s of £s and not even a comment.

53 pounds is nothing for a man as rich as Imran Khan, heck 53 pounds on a shirt is nothing for most middle class people in the first world, the lamestream media in Pakistan is fixated on the wrong stuff. It's like when the media over here was criticising obama for wearing a tan suit.

As usual the half witts are stuck at the 52$ shirt. Its not about 1 individual item but the principle of leading by example. Why does Imran Khan not lead a simpler life, when he is preaching ordinary Pakistanis to do just that.

For a starter why live in Banni Galla mansion and expect others to do the sabbar?

And for the usual Rotu brigade, yes Nawaz and his Rolex were bad and atleast Imran should have confiscated his Raiwind Palace to set an example for others.

Not surprised its Geo. They have an agenda, and suck up to PMLN. Reason why they thrive is because of enough dumb awaam who religiously watch their channel over other news channels.

In my family, most of the PMLN supporters praise Maryam Nawaz for the supposed beauty she is, and for her expensive accessories. I have tried to ask numerous times about how they think she has funded all of that but never got a clear response, that's the easy way out - stay quiet when you don't have answer.

The purpose of Geo is to only create/invent problems. Never seen it offer any solution, or looking at the positive side. When you feed negativity persistently to the awaam, then you end up with a psychologically weak society and develop a cult.

Just turn on BBC or CNN or EuroNews and imagine if you're unaware about what's happening in the world, you will not be able to guess that tens of thousands of people have died in those countries and continents within weeks. The news concentrates on finding research answers, looking for the peak of the curve, economy and government initiatives.

Our news channels won't get medical researchers, professors, doctors, economists et al on the prime-time shows, but will ensure there are enough daily wage parliamentarians, moulvis and journalists to spread chaos.

A leader must always represent the average person in his country and dress like one.

How do you know he doesn't? If he starved himself, you would call him draamabaazi. You make no sense

Well it seems like there is a very legit reason why Corona virus is out there...humans behaving like toilet that is..

Have you even seen Banigala? It is no way a mansion. It is an ordinary traditional house. The property was bought at peanut rates. How else can he live a simple life? Its like banging my head against a brick wall here. Do you want him to come on tv in his vest?

If he confiscated Raiwand (which he cant), the likes of you would cry political victimisation. There is no win with people like you.

O chacha, this is an ordinary traditional house?

If you think so, then go and see how vast majority of ordinary Pakistanis live.

As for confiscating Nawaz’s Raiwind palace (and rest of his assets built on looted wealth) Imran Khan did zilch despite all his tall claims. If he can’t do anything against the openly corrupt Nawaz and Zardari, why has he been pretending to be the Robinhood?

New Zealand PM Ardern takes pay cut as virus hits economy

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced she will take a 20 per cent pay cut in a symbolic act of solidarity with people struggling financially during the coronavirus pandemic, AFPreported.

Ardern said her personal salary, those of her fellow ministers and of top public servants would be slashed by a fifth for six months.

“While it in itself won't shift the government's overall fiscal position, it is about leadership,” she told reporters.

“This was always just going to be an acknowledgement of the hit that many New Zealanders will be taking at the moment," she said.

I think you are being harsh on IK, he was world cup winning captain, he got his money through legal means, paid taxes, if I am not wrong he has built a cancer hospital, he is PM of Pakistan so his salary and past money allows him to wear 53 pound shirt.
We should look how he is handling the situation and if you think he is wrong as PM then everybody is free to criticize his performance

Some Pakistanis will criticize Khan for the sake of it. The house that is being shown is nothing like a mansion. This was land purchased at peanut rates as it was like abandoned green area at the time.

And then criticising Khan for not taking harsher steps against the looters before him lol When he does, these same people cry political victimisation.

These people just do not respect people who are heroes or someone who has immensely contributed to the country. I appreciate Indians in this regard.

The good thing about original RL clothes is that they do go the distance, i have several shirts and tops that haven't faded or shrunk in years.
