I know AB has been retained as odi captain, but just say Faf was given the role does anyone think it would make a difference and finally give South Africa icc glory? He's done a great job when leading the side so far, also his own performances have improved when he has been the skipper. Furthermore he seems to have the character that could give South Africa a boost and some belief in the tournament.

I think under Faf South Africa have a much better chance than under Ab. Think AB should just concentrate on his batting.

What do you guys think? Would it make a difference or would it still be the same old story ?

AB is a poor captain to be honest. Faf is better captain than AB.

Faf is a better captain no doubt but I am not sure if he can lead SA to world cup victory.

Graeme Smith couldn't do it and even in t20s, not much has changed under the leadership of Faf. SA performed poorly in WT20 2016 under the captaincy of Faf.

So hard to make these predictions.

One captain is not going to do it for any team. You need to have couple of players who rise to occasion and take the game away in big moments.

That is what I am saying. Faf leading the team won't be enough. SA need the whole team combination to stood up and rise on the big occasion.

Faf is the best captain we had ever better than Smith.

AB de Villiers does not have grey matter between his ears

Doubt I will see them win WC in this lifetime..

Wouldn't make a difference. Faf may be a better captain than AB but that isn't saying much. Besides, no captain can do anything about two set batsmen being unable to score seven runs off the last over of the match.

AB being a supremely talented batting talent can afford a mistake or two or lack of momentary concentration and still be able to score plethora of runs and his same habit of making an odd mistake or momentarily letting the pressure loose creeps into his captaincy which makes a far bigger impact on the result than his batting.
In short, AB is likely to make a few tactical errors in every other match and faf is a bit more ruthless and is able to capitalize on a loose thread.

But then even faf isnt good enough to lead them to silverware. It will need some more adrenaline and pumped up lot than this one to win. Plus still remember Faf's poor captaincy in Wt20 2014 semi final when he opted to open the bowling with Albie and Duminy instead of Steyn and others.

Maybe Faf could have if he was the captain of SA team that played in 2015 WC, batting led by AB de Villiers.
