Crime in India - Mega Discussion thread

Days after finding the body of a young Delhi woman inside a fridge at a restaurant, Delhi Police arrested her boyfriend's father for helping his son plan the murder. Nikki Yadav, 23, was allegedly strangled by her partner Sahil Gehlot with a charging cable. He then stuffed the body in a fridge at a restaurant owned by his family in the chilling re-run of last year's Aaftab Poonawalla and Shraddha Walkar case.
Police recovered the body of Nikki Yadav on Tuesday when many in the country were celebrating Valentine's Day.

Along with Sahil Gehlot's father, police have also arrested three other family members and friends who helped him plan the murder.

"Delhi Police have arrested 5 people. Sahil Gehlot's father has also been arrested on the charges of helping him in the conspiracy," Special CP Ravinder Yadav told news agency ANI.

In another major disclosure, sources in the Delhi Police said that Sahil and Nikki got married in October 2020 at a Noida temple.

Cops said that Sahil's family did not approve of the relationship and also fixed his marriage with another girl.

Nikki never knew that her live-in partner was engaged to another woman. She found out a day before his wedding, police sources said.

During the investigation, police found CCTV footage of Nikki Yadav entering her rented home in south-west Delhi. In the video, dated February 9, she is alone.

Cops say that she was killed hours later by her partner.

Not far from the house, the couple fought inside a car for around three hours over Sahil marrying another woman.

As the fight escalated, Sahil strangled Nikki using a charging cable, the police said. He allegedly panicked and decided to hide the body in the freezer at his family's dhaba.

This is the second murder of a young woman in Delhi allegedly by her live-in partner. Last year, Shraddha Walkar was murdered by her live-in partner Aaftab Poonawalla, who chopped her body into pieces and stored them in a fridge before disposing of them across the city, the police have said.

UP Gangster Anil Dujana, Out On Bail In Murder Case, Killed In Encounter

The Uttar Pradesh police's special task force has shot dead another gangster in an encounter.
Anil Dujana, who was known to terrorise people in Noida, Ghaziabad and other areas in Delhi-National Capital Region, was killed in the encounter with the UP Police's special task force (STF) in Meerut.

He faced over 60 criminal cases.

Dujana was released from jail just a week ago after getting bail in a murder case. Immediately after that, he started threatening one of the key witnesses in the murder case filed against him, sources said.

Dujana had decided to kill the witness, they said.

The STF then moved in to arrest him. During the operation, Dujana and his gang engaged the police, leading to a gunfight and his death, sources said.

The encounter happened on an unpaved road, surrounded by tall bushes, in a village in Meerut. The police said he and his gang had been hiding there and opened fired at the STF operatives during approach. The police team returned fire immediately.

After Dujana threatened the witness, the police left nothing to chance as witnesses in key cases have been killed in recent times.

In February, the witness in the murder case of a Bahujan Samaj Party leader was shot dead by Asad Ahmed, the son of gangster Atiq Ahmed. Asad was killed in an encounter last month, and his father was also shot dead on camera near a hospital while talking to reporters in UP's Prayagraj.

UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said many times he intends to get rid of hardened criminals and gangsters from the state.

Since March 2017 when Yogi Adityanath became the Chief Minister, 183 gangsters have died in encounters, the UP Police said last month. Thirteen policemen were killed in action during the same period. Eight of them were ambushed in a narrow lane in Kanpur by the aides of gangster Vikas Dubey. The gangster was killed in an encounter subsequently.

Man barges into a house and rapes a minor girl, kills her with a hammer and hangs the body

On Wednesday, 7th June 2023, a shocking incident took place in Lucknow wherein a Muslim youth named Shahid barged into a house in the Indira Nagar area of the city to rape a minor girl. Shahid subsequently killed the 14-year-old girl. A case has been registered in this regard and the police arrested the accused Shahid late in the night.

According to a complaint filed by the victim girl’s father, the accused Shahid entered the house of the victim in the Takrohi area which comes under the Indira Nagar police station at around 1 pm on Wednesday. Shahid raped the 14-year-old minor girl who was alone at that time in the house. After committing the rape, Shahid hit the girl’s head with a hammer to kill her. Shahid then hung the dead body of the minor girl to the ceiling of the house. She was a class 10 student.

The girl’s family said that the accused was harassing their daughter for several days. She was alone at home. In the meantime, he barged into the house and raped the teenager and then killed her with a hammer. The girl’s mother said that when she returned from work in the afternoon, the accused was seen running away from her house.

She also tried to catch him but failed. When she went inside the house, the body of the daughter was found hanging. She alleged that the accused hanged the daughter’s body to make the murder appear like a suicide.

As the victim’s father informed the police, the police visited the spot and recovered the dead body of the victim. It was sent for the post-mortem. The father of the victim accused Shahid of rape and murder and lodged a complaint against him. The police registered a case of rape and murder based on this complaint and launched a search operation for the absconding accused Shahid who was apprehended late in the night.

Reportedly, Shahid has denied the allegations. He told the police that he was with the girl at her house when her family members arrived and caught them in a compromising position. He claimed that he ran away after that, and does not what happened after that. Based on the complaint of the victim’s family, the police are treating it as a murder case.

DCP North Lucknow Kasim Abdi said, “An FIR of rape and murder has been registered on the complaint of the girl’s family. The exact cause of death will be known after the post-mortem report comes. Late at night, the police took the accused teenager into custody. The accused says that the deceased girl has hanged herself.”

This incident in the Takrohi area of Lucknow has sparked significant unrest. The local community is gripped by fear and anxiety following the tragic incident involving the rape and brutal murder of this minor girl in her own home.

British mother, 38, is sentenced to death in India after brutally murdering her devout Sikh husband with the help of her secret lover in front of the couple's horrified nine-year-old son

Ramandeep Kaur Mann, 38, from Derby, was found guilty of murdering her husband Sukhjit Singh, 34, while they were on holiday at his mother's house in India in 2016.

Mr Singh, a devout Sikh and father-of-two from Derby, was found in bed with his throat slit on September 2, 2016 — murdered in front of his terrified son, who was nine years old at the time.

Their son told the court during the trial that he had been sleeping in the bed next to his father when he was awoken to the sight of his mother smothering Mr Singh with a pillow.

Her lover, Mr Singh's childhood friend Gurpreet Singh, then hit the father-of-two on the head with a hammer before Ramandeep slit his throat.

Now, seven years on, Ramandeep has been found guilty of her husband's murder and been sentenced to death by hanging by an Indian court, reports NDTV.

Gurpreet Singh was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison with a fine of 10,000 rupees (£98.75).

Two men jailed for suspected murders of 19 children and young women acquitted

Businessman Moninder Singh Pandher and his groundskeeper Surender Koli - the prime suspect in the case - were arrested by police in December 2006.

Authorities filed 13 cases against Koli and six against Pandher in relation to the killings.

The Allahabad High Court on Monday acquitted Koli in 12 of the cases and Pandher in two cases, Koli's lawyer Payoshi Roy said.

"There is a single case against Koli now in the Supreme Court... We hope to overturn that as well," Ms Roy said, adding that the high court ruled the evidence against Koli as being inadmissible.

Pandher's lawyer said that all six cases against him related to the killings have been disposed of, as he was previously acquitted in four cases.

The men's death sentences have also been overturned, Ms Roy added.

In 2017, the pair were sentenced to death after they were found guilty of killing domestic worker Pinki Sarkar, who went missing in October 2006.

As well as Ms Sarkar's remains, police found nearly 70 bags stuffed with human remains in sewers in Nithari, a village in the state of Uttar Pradesh outside New Delhi.

The men were accused of killing and raping numerous children and women from the slums close to Pandher's mansion - at the time dubbed the "house of horrors" - before dumping them in nearby drains.

Servant Koli had previously allegedly confessed to raping the corpses and eating human remains, but later retracted his statement.

Meanwhile, Pandher had said he was oblivious to serial killings going on inside his home in Nithari, saying he had

mobile phone records showing he was usually out on business when they happened.

50- year-old man, his son and another person have been arrested by Mumbai police and three minors detained for allegedly murdering the man's daughter and son-in-law in a case of so-called honour killing, a police official said here on Tuesday.

Gora Raeesuddin Khan (50) allegedly killed the couple with the help of his son and the son's friend as he was not happy with his daughter's marriage to Karan Ramesh Chandra, the official said.

Chandra's body was found in suburban Govandi last Saturday. As his wife Gulnaz too was missing, suspicion fell on her father Gora Khan, he said.

Khan allegedly confessed to have killed the couple with the help of others as they had married against his wishes.

Gulnaz's body was soon recovered from Navi Mumbai.

Gora Khan, his son Salman and Salman's friend Kaif Khan were arrested for murder and remanded in police custody till October 27 while further investigation is underway, the official added.

This is so sad that even in 2023 we are killing people just because they loved someone of another faith. This thread is not just about 1 religion. there are more honour killings committed by hindus especially when their daughters marry men from lower castes or dalits.

I wonder how many more decades are needed before these killings stop.

It's hard to believe honor killings are still happening in the year 2023. It happens wherever women are viewed as your property.

What is special about 2023 that honour killings should not happen, and all other types of killings are allowed to happen?

In a chilling case from Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi, a 19-year-old has claimed that she was gang raped by 23 men over one week. The Class 12 student failed to return home after she went to a hookah bar with her friend on March 29, following which she was reported missing. Surprisingly, several of the accused were her former classmates and individuals she had interacted with on Instagram

A disturbing case has come to light from Varanasi,Uttar Pradesh, where a Class 12 student was allegedly kidnapped and then gang-raped by 23 men over a span of one week, between March 29 and April 4, as per the UP Police.

In a shocking revelation, several of the accused were not strangers to the teenager. Some were familiar faces — former classmates and individuals she had interacted with on Instagram.

The police have filed an FIR against all 23 accused. While six have been taken into custody, 11 are still unidentified. A search is ongoing to locate and arrest the remaining suspects.

So, how did this horrific chain of events unfold? What’s next? Here’s a closer look at the case

The crime

According to police, the ordeal began on March 29 when the Class 12 student went missing after a friend took her to a hookah bar in Varanasi. She returned home on April 4 and confided in her family, following which they approached the police with a complaint.

The girl’s mother stated that her daughter had initially gone to a friend’s house that day, after which she didn’t return.

“As per her statement, on March 29, a friend took her to a hookah bar in the Pishachmochan area, where other men also joined. The girl alleged that she was drugged with a spiked cold drink and then taken to different hotels in the Sigra area, where she was gang-raped,” a senior police officer told India Today.
Her nightmare didn’t end there. On March 30, while walking along the road, she encountered one of the accused and his friend. They forced her onto a motorcycle and took her towards the highway, where she was raped again and later abandoned in Nadesar.

The following day, March 31, she came across five more men. They took her to a restaurant in Maldahiya, where she was once again drugged and gang-raped, Times of India reported.

On April 1, another accused, along with his friend, took her to a hotel where three other men were waiting. She was forced to massage a client, during which an unknown man sexually assaulted her. After leaving the hotel, she was picked up by yet another man who took her to a different hotel and raped her before leaving her outside.

Ranchi:
In a disturbing incident of cruelty to an animal, that sparked public outrage, a man shot a street dog with a rifle on a busy road in the Tatisilwai area of Ranchi. The man was arrested after his cruel action caused a furore.

The shocking act was caught on camera and widely circulated on social media, prompting swift action by the Jharkhand Police.

The accused, identified as Pradeep Pandey, was seen in the viral video walking down the road with two other men, carrying a rifle. As the group approached a few stray dogs by the roadside, Pandey suddenly took aim and fired a shot, killing one of the dogs.

The incident took place while several vehicles were moving on the road.

The cold blooded killing of an innocent animal sparked outrage among the people of the area and on social media, especially among animal lovers.

Eyewitnesses and residents also expressed concern that the bullet could have hit a passerby if the shot had gone astray. Many questioned the legality of using a firearm in a public space and demanded action.

The video was shared with senior officials of the Ranchi Police by local citizens, following which the administration took note of the matter.

Rural SP Sumit Kumar Agarwal directed the Tatisilwai police to take prompt action. Ranchi DIG-cum-SSP Chandan Kumar Sinha has also taken cognizance and ordered a thorough investigation into the incident.

During questioning, Pandey claimed that the dog had turned aggressive and had injured several people in recent days. He said he opened fire to prevent further attacks. He also told the police that the rifle used in the incident is licensed.

However, legal experts and animal welfare activists point out that the law prohibits killing or harming of stray animals.

According to police, killing a street dog is a punishable offence under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. If the act is proven to be unlawful, the accused could face imprisonment of up to two years and a monetary fine.

I have taken on an entire village in Arambol currently who continue to mistreat stray dogs. I ride my bike in slow motion while the villagers stare at me with hate, some even abusing. Makes me slow down even more as I love to extend their misery and agony, gives me a high.

I hope everyone knows the animal and their own rights when dealing with such monsters. Please do not let such abuses pass, take your phone out, record and police does take it seriously.

Great idea.
@BouncerGuy @FearlessRoar

Brothers, the crime reporter has also suggested that we merge all such threads under one mega thread.

These discussions are very important on Pakpassion and we need your support so we can bring Bharat related crime news to you all.
Sure, we can have one mega thread for all the andhbhakts and dogs related news. Another for cow-related crimes. One for rapes in India. One for rich brats running people over with luxury cars and getting away with essay-writing as punishment. And a final one for all the other crimes piling up across the country. :inti

Here is the thread we have for crimes in India..

Great stuff. Thanks brother.

@Bhaag Viru Bhaag
Bhai, you can please use this thread now to report all the rapes, murders and misc crimes happening in Bharat. Happy reporting brother. This is important matter and must be brought to the attention of our dear Pakistani friends. Khuda hafiz

The dog got shot, but I suppose we can take comfort that it wasn't molested before being killed. In India, that treatment is reserved only for women.

Brother this thread is only dedicated to Bharat related crimes.

It’s very important that every crime in Bharat is exposed here for the betterment of humanity.

Replying back in kind is different from derailing.

He is right brother.
This place is dedicated to discuss crime scene in Bharat.

For Pakistan related crimes, maybe you can check with mods if a separate thread would be ok. He has a point brother.

Looks like you got triggered when I shared the rape news from Varanasi today. That news is all over Indian media. Anyway, if the news is significant enough, I will create a separate thread for it. Mods can merge it if they feel it's necessary. You, meanwhile, can use this thread for all your dogs and cats stuff. :inti

Rape seems to be a major issue in India. :inti

I think it cannot be fixed easily until Indians abandon whataboutism and try to fix it themselves.

Charge him with the appropriate law, give him due process and then punish him. No different to any other person who commits rape regardless of their religion or creed.

We have the same opinion of the 6 Hindus who were convicted in the 2012 Delhi gang rape and murder

Nirbhaya-six.jpg

Arrest anyone, charge them, and then convict them after due process.

Asif Mansoori should be treated no different to Akshay Thakur as both are Indian citizens and same due process applies. The issue is when Social Media highlights the actions of Asif Mansoori on account of him being Muslim and does not repeatedly provide wall-to-wall coverage to the religion and belief of Akshay Thakur

Bavish (25) and Aneesha (23) were arrested on Sunday after Bavish got drunk and walked into Pudukad police station in Thrissur with a bag claiming to contain the skeletal remains of the newborns.

Police in Kerala have arrested a young live-in couple for allegedly killing their two newborn babies between 2021 and 2024.

Bavish (25) and Aneesha (23) were arrested on Sunday after Bavish got drunk and walked into Pudukad police station in Thrissur with a bag claiming to contain the skeletal remains of the newborns.

“He handed over the bag to police, saying these are the bones of the infants. He claimed that the bones were kept for performing rituals so that the souls of the babies get moksha. Suspecting something serious behind his talk under the influence of alcohol, police verified his claims that night itself. By morning, we realised that two children were killed,” Thrissur rural SP B Krishna Kumar said.

According to police, the accused couple became friends through social media in 2020, when Bavish was 20 and Aneesha 18. They had planned to get married, but the plans did not materialise.

Police claimed that the first baby was born in November 2021 and that the woman allegedly strangled it to death. The body was then buried near her house. Eight months later, she dug up the pit and handed over a few bones to Bavish, police said. The second child was born in August 2024, and the body was allegedly buried in the same manner, but at a different spot.

The SP said forensic surgeons have examined the bones and prima facie verified them as those of newborns. “However, a detailed examination will be held as part of the probe,” he said.

Police also said that the provocation for Bavish’s disclosure of the killings was his strained relationship with Aneesha, a lab technician. Bavish purportedly suspected that Aneesha was having an affair, and this had led to frequent quarrels between the two in recent months. Police said he feared that she was planning to get married to someone else, and went to the police station with the skeletal remains allegedly to take revenge.

The first step to fix something is to accept that something is wrong , but unfortunately Vishwa guru and his party have paint wrong narrative of the denial approach . If you speak about this you will be declared anti national.

Exactly.

This is the problem I see with majority of the Indians. They get defensive when a fault is pointed out. This is why India is 4-5 times behind China despite having a similar population.

‘One day you love her, next you kill her’: Why did tennis player Radhika Yadav’s father shoot her dead at Gurgaon home?

According to the police, they were informed by a private hospital at 11.30 am that a young woman had died of bullet injuries. When a police team got there, they found the woman’s uncle, Kuldeep — but not her parents.

At 25, the state-level tennis player was gradually climbing up the ranks internationally in the doubles category, was coaching at a private academy, and was individually teaching high-profile clients.

However, her father, Deepak Yadav (54) — according to the police and residents of her Gurgaon neighbourhood — allegedly could not stand her success as he was being “taunted” for relying on his daughter’s income.

At 10.30 am on Thursday, at their residence in Gurgaon’s Sushant Lok-II, he allegedly took his licensed revolver and fired five shots — three of them hit Radhika, killing her.

According to the police, they were informed by a private hospital at 11.30 am that a young woman had died of bullet injuries. When a police team got there, they found the woman’s uncle, Kuldeep — but not her parents.

Police then rushed to the crime scene. There, sources said, they found the woman’s father; he said he had shot “an international-level tennis player, his daughter”.

Police said they seized his gun, detained him for questioning, and formally arrested him later in the evening.

An FIR on the charge of murder was registered at the Sector 56 police station, and the post-mortem report is awaited, said police.

Station House Officer Inspector Vinod Kumar said, “He (Deepak) had been upset for a while as he was being taunted by locals over his daughter’s income. He was troubled by their remarks — they would keep saying the house is running on her money, and he is too dependent on that. He had asked her (Radhika) several times earlier to stop working at the academy, but she refused. He could not take it anymore.”

The father earned an income from the rent he got from a couple of small properties he owned, police said.

Born on March 23, 2000, Radhika had competed in various national and international tournaments, achieving a career-best ranking of 75 in Girls Under-18, 53 in Women’s Doubles, and 35 in Women’s Singles as per All India Tennis Association (AITA) records.

She was active on the International Tennis Federation (ITF) circuit, where she was ranked 113.

Back at Radhika’s home later in the evening, several girls she had coached visited to pay their condolences. Her mother and uncle Kuldeep (Deepak’s younger brother) sat quietly in chairs on the porch.

We have the womens final today but sadly some parts of the world has still not evolved. How the hell can a father be jealous of the income of his daughter, that too in a country with a rapidly growing economy, where such riches must be common.

Om Shanti to the Victim. I wonder when the hell this mentality will change.

I cant think of a worse punishment than being born a woman in Haryana. Even if you escape being infanticided , you grow up and are always at threat from your loved ones. Being murdered are extreme cases but coercive control is much more common.

The rest of India is not great either but far far better than UP, Bihar and Haryana

Woman's Head, Chopped Up Body Found In Plastic Bags In Karnataka

The severed head and dismembered body of a woman were found stuffed in multiple plastic bags along the road at Kolala village in Koratagere.

According to police, initially on August 7, seven covers with the woman's body parts stuffed were brought to their notice by passersby. Later, Koratagere police combed the crime spot and found seven more plastic bags stuffed with body parts and the head on August 8.

An official, who is part of the investigating team, said they have zeroed in on the identity of the woman with the help of the head.

"But we are yet to confirm the identity," said the official to PTI.

On Friday, special teams were set up by Tumakuru Superintendent of Police, Ashok K V, to comb Kolala village near Koratagere, where the body parts were discovered, as well as neighbouring villages.

The police official said the killers more likely came in a car to dispose of the body stuffed in plastic bags. They suspect that they are scattered all along the road connecting Chimpuganhalli and Venkatapura villages.

"The woman was more likely murdered elsewhere," he added.

A search for more body parts was made difficult due to heavy rain in the area on Saturday.

The victim, identified as Ramkesh Meena, was allegedly killed by his live-in partner and two others, who later set his flat ablaze to pass the murder off as an accident. What was initially thought to be an air-conditioner blast was, in fact, a carefully orchestrated cover-up.

Delhi Police have cracked the murder of a 32-year-old UPSC aspirant whose charred body was found earlier this month in a burnt apartment in Gandhi Vihar, a case that first appeared to be a fire accident but turned out to be a chilling crime of passion and revenge.

The victim, identified as Ramkesh Meena, was allegedly killed by his live-in partner, Amrita Chauhan, a 21-year-old forensic science student, with the help

Police said the two used their respective knowledge of forensic science and gas mechanics to plan and execute the murder, later setting Meena's flat ablaze to make it look like an accident. What was initially thought to be an air-conditioner blast was, in fact, a carefully orchestrated cover-up.

Days after Meena's body was discovered, police arrested three people, his 21-year-old live-in partner Amrita Chauhan, her former boyfriend Sumit Kashyap (27), and their friend Sandeep Kumar (29), all residents of Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh.

Amrita, a B.Sc. Forensic Science student, had been living with Meena since May. But when she discovered that he had secretly recorded her private videos and refused to delete them despite her repeated pleas, their relationship took a dark turn.

Enraged and humiliated, Amrita confided in Sumit, her ex-boyfriend, who decided to help her "teach him a lesson", roping in his friend Sandeep to execute the plan.

According to DCP (North) Raja Banthia, the trio travelled from Moradabad to Delhi on the night of October 5–6 and entered Meena's fourth-floor flat in Gandhi Vihar.

CCTV footage showed two masked men entering the building, followed by a woman. Around 2:57 am, the woman, later identified as Amrita, and one of the men were seen leaving. Moments later, an explosion ripped through the apartment.

"The CCTV footage showed two people, their faces covered, entering the building on the night of the incident. And there was a fire soon after the two walked out, which raised suspicion. Based on forensic findings, it became clear that this was a murder," said DCP Banthia.

Police were alerted about a fire and found Meena's severely burnt body inside the flat. At first, investigators suspected an electrical short circuit or AC blast, but the CCTV footage and burn pattern raised red flags.

Amrita's mobile location placed her near the crime scene at the time of the incident, and her call detail records further corroborated her involvement.

After multiple raids in Moradabad, Amrita was arrested on October 18. During interrogation, she confessed to the murder and revealed how she, Sumit, and Sandeep had strangled and assaulted Meena before setting him on fire.

The accused along with her former lover reached the apartment and strangulated the victim. Then they poured ghee, oil and alcohol on the victim's body. Then with the help of another accomplice, they opened the valve of the gas cylinder to trigger the blast," the DCP added.

Police said Sumit, who works as an LPG distributor, used the gas cylinder to cause an explosion and make it look like an accident. Before escaping, the trio locked the flat from inside through a small hole in the iron gate to avoid suspicion. Minutes later, the explosion went off. They also fled with Meena's hard disk, laptops, and other belongings to destroy evidence.

Police said Amrita's background in forensic science and her fascination with crime web series helped her plan the murder and disguise it as a fire accident.

Following her confession, police recovered a hard disk, a trolley bag, Meena's shirt, and two mobile phones from the accused. Based on her disclosures, Sumit was arrested on October 21 and Sandeep on October 23. Both admitted their involvement during questioning.

Inspector Pankaj Tomar of Timarpur Police Station led the investigation, which combined technical surveillance, call records, and local intelligence to piece together the sequence of events. A case has been registered under sections related to murder, conspiracy, and destruction of evidence.

All three accused are currently in police custody, and further investigation is underway.

A 21 year old forensic student have used her domain knowledge and used her ex LPG knowledge to set her live on part er on fire.the victim have secretly recorded her private videos and refused to give her back.so after pleading unsuccessfully, she reverted to teach him.a lesson and humiliation. It pained me a lot as she never thought of approaching police or his parents to set the record straight. She was a crime web series fanatic and got plenty of inspiration from it.she wasted her entire life .it seems she is poor and she was with the victim only for money as the age gap is too high.i dont think the victim also cares about his studies as he is already 32 and still attempting.

Harsh and his 70 years old mother were beaten by his lawyer Samuel Masih and his gang of goons inside the Tis Hazari Courts, Delhi when Harsh asked him to return his case file. Owners fled after Indian nightclub blaze killed 25: police

The owners of an Indian nightclub in the tourist hotspot of Goa fled the country hours after a deadly fire at their business killed 25 people at the weekend, police have said.

The majority of the victims of the tragedy, that struck a club in Arpora in the north of the coastal state, were staff members, including four Nepali citizens.

The blaze was likely triggered by “electrical firecrackers”, officials said, with most people dying due to suffocation in the basement and kitchen area after wooden parts of the club caught fire.

The owners of the club -- brothers Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra -- boarded a flight for Phuket in Thailand “immediately after the incident”, Goa police said in a statement late on Monday.

AFP did not immediately receive a reply after seeking comment from Saurabh Luthra.

Police said officers travelled to New Delhi to carry out a raid at the brothers’ home but discovered the men had left the country.

“It shows their intent to avoid police investigation,” police said.

Authorities have appealed to Interpol for help to find the brothers.

On Monday, Saurabh Luthra expressed “profound grief” over the tragedy and promised “every possible form” of assistance to the families of the victims.

“The management expresses profound grief and is deeply shaken by the tragic loss of lives resulting from the unfortunate incident,” he said in a post on social media without revealing his whereabouts.

Goa, nestled on the shores of the Arabian Sea, lures millions of tourists every year with its nightlife, sandy beaches and laid-back coastal atmosphere.

The state’s Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Sunday said that four people had been arrested, and ordered checks on other nightclubs in the former Portuguese colony.

Fires are common in India due to poor building practices, overcrowding and a lack of adherence to safety regulations.

Jharkhand: Horrific family tragedy as man kills wife and two children before suicide in Dumka

Dumka Superintendent of Police Pitambar Singh Khirwar confirmed that the police team is on-site and conducting a detailed investigation. “The husband killed his wife and children and then hanged himself near the house. Investigations are being conducted from all angles,” he said.

A shocking incident has rocked Bardehi village in the Hansdiha police station area of Dumka district, where a man allegedly killed his wife and two young children before taking his own life. The tragedy occurred late Thursday night, leaving the local community in shock.

Four family members found dead

Police recovered the bodies of the deceased, identified as Virendra Kumar (32), his wife Aarti Kumari (27), their son Viraj Kumar (2), and their daughter Ruhi Kumari (4). According to authorities, the woman and children were found dead inside the house, while Virendra’s body was discovered hanging from a tree near the home, with rope marks on his neck indicating suicide.

The bodies were sent to Phulo-Jhano Medical College and Hospital, Dumka, for post-mortem examination.

Domestic dispute suspected

Preliminary investigations suggest that ongoing marital tensions may have triggered the incident. Police said Virendra had brought his wife and children back from her parental home only two days earlier. A domestic disagreement reportedly escalated, leading him to allegedly strangle his wife and children before ending his own life.

Dumka Superintendent of Police Pitambar Singh Khirwar confirmed that the police team is on-site and conducting a detailed investigation. “The husband killed his wife and children and then hanged himself near the house. Investigations are being conducted from all angles,” he said.

Village in Shock

The incident has left the village in mourning. Residents described the atmosphere as tense and grief-stricken, with many expressing shock at the sudden and tragic loss of the entire family.

The Dumka police are continuing investigations to determine the exact circumstances and motive behind this horrifying incident, as the community comes to terms with the tragedy.

Earlier in another incident , three people were killed and one seriously injured in a tragic accident in Chaliyama, under Rajnagar police station in Saraikela-Kharsawan district on Saturday, when a dumper loaded with iron fell on an e-rickshaw. Two people died on the spot, while the injured were rushed to the hospital, where one more succumbed to their injuries.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident to determine the cause and ensure accountability.
