What's new

CT:Sri Lanka v SA: 7th match, Motera [updates]

If SL tame Boucher & Pollock SA wont make a big total but they need to dislodge these 2 first though. Mind you if Kallis DeV strike @ 60 SL wont mind too much.

109-3 (31) Kallis 43* DeV 33*

why would anyone want the lankans to win?

They are the strongest opponents from our group and it would improve our chances if Lanka didn't make the semis.

lanka would not play us in the semi's, will be either Aus or India!

ofcourse they won't, but they could hypothetically play us in the final and i'd rather play new zealand or the saffies in the final than sri lanka

plus if the lankans win today, that means SA will come down in the ODI rankings :D

116 for 4

33.2 overs

if we can beat them once, we can beat them twice, stop living in a world of fear, you are a pakistani, stand up n be counted, we are winning who ever reaches the semi's & finals!

fear? son, we call it prudence

Vaas on the ground. probably cramps but no worries he has already bowled his 10 overs and can probably just leave.
pepsi thela is on the ground

no, in other words, you have no idea what prudence is ;)

fair enough, let the philistinian approach continue!

Prudence is an accounting concept , which basically means not realising any profit before it has been made!;)

120 for 4

34 overs!

SA has to learn not to hit towards Dilshan. he is stopping everything in his zipcode

that is one use of the term, it exists outside of it too

salam, n happy eid!

well backing sri lanka to win.

and not really doing the commentary today, tomorrow is where its at, so today is a day off for me :D

128 for 4.

de villiars 42* (but consumed a lot of balls for that

murali back into the attack

De villiars 80 balls for his 42.

128 for 4.

boucher faces murali!

according to bbc - if SL lose today then "they would need Pakistan to win their remaining three games, and would still only progress if their run-rate bettered South Africa or New Zealand."

a four finally. Attapattu could have stopped it the way Sri Lankans are fielding today

ABC DE Villiers out. the four was too much for him to handle

SA 145-5 after 38.4 overs.

Dilshan is menace in the field for opposition teams.

De V gwaan 5 down now! Come on SL wrap it up now!

Your da man! Cav! You tell it like it is! Have no fear Cav is here!

No, on a serious note I absolutely agree Cav, we have nothing to fear infact it should be the other way round.

Lets see if Kemp can live upto his beast reputation because he hasnt done much against quality opposition for yonks.

151-5 (40.2)

Is it better for Pakistan if Sri Lanka win or South Africa?

Obviously I am supporting Sri Lanka but if it is better for us for them to lose then it will be a win-win situation.

great shot by Peterson. That was a huge slog at that ball and it went miles.

Didn't watch any of the first innings till now, how has the pitch played? Poor batting or good bowling?

6 now, great hook shot by Pollock. Poor bowling by Malinga, he telegraphed it.

and another yorker, Malinga gets leg stump. Superb bowling in the block hole. On a hat-trick now.

219/9 off 50. Good rearguard action by Pollock and Peterson but i feel Sri Lanka will chase it easily.

Anyone?

219 looks like a below par total, each time it looked like S.A could break loose they lost a wicket. In general sri lanka bowled and fielded well.

S.A will need to get 2/3 early wickets to have a chance here.

I hope we some Jayasuriya fireworks and hope sri lanka win!

What do you guys think will be a competitive total? I reckon 200-220 and anything around 235 is probably a winning total.

Who was it that said 220.....? :21:

Tharanga has been in very good form, throughout the tourney. Let's see how he does against Nel, Pollock, and co.

I hope Sri Lanka knock these off in 25 overs :D

I reckon SL should win. 222-6 I reckon in 48 overs

If Jayasuriya and Tharaga stay out there for 10-15 overs, SL will win comfortably!

Some awesome cricinfo commentary:

3.3 Ntini to Tharanga, no run
3.2 Ntini to Tharanga, no run
3.1 Ntini to Tharanga, no run
End of over 3 (2 runs) - Sri Lanka 8/0 (212 runs required from 47 overs, RR: 2.66, RRR: 4.51)

ST Jayasuriya 3* (9b) SM Pollock 2-0-3-0
WU Tharanga 4* (10b 1x4) M Ntini 1-0-5-0

2.6 Pollock to Jayasuriya, no run
2.5 Pollock to Jayasuriya, 2 runs
2.4 Pollock to Jayasuriya, no run
2.3 Pollock to Jayasuriya, no run
2.2 Pollock to Jayasuriya, no run
2.1 Pollock to Jayasuriya, no run

Tony Greig needs glasses :)) "what a catch! what a catch" he goes when Kallis has just dropped one.

Shaun Pollock, superb bowler. He's got Sanath plumb in front of middle. 9/1

thranga dropped in second slips by Kallis
SL 9-0 after 4 overs

Jayasuriya out LBW b Pollock
SL 9-1

That one pitched outside leg, unlucky Jayasuria.
