Danny Morrison Commentary thread

Lol he's a cool bloke. I'd like to see him and Pommie commentate together to see who gets more excited :D

the only kiwi commentator who believes good cricket can be played by other countries as well

Great commentator and he seems a great guy. His voice does get a bit annoying after a bit but he really does seem a great guy.

He commentated really well during the PAK-SL series. Afridi hit a 6 and he said 'this ones got an air hostess on it' - it was that huge.

he goes into shastri mode during ipl. but still during tests, he can be quite insightful.

sidhu for all his shenanigans and bs methods does talk insightful stuff from time to time.

A run out decision is referred to the third/TV umpire, the legend says:

"It is now up to the TMO....."

"What is TMO?", asked Laxman Sivaramakrishnan.

"third match official" said Danny Morrison.

Wow:14:!!!

Danny Morrison and Tony Greig are the two that come to mind, who can make any dull cricket sound very interesting .... that is a great skill to have...!!!

I've been saying it for a while, he's the best in the business right now.

The man is undoubtedly exuberant towards the sport and is entertaining, all while evincing no signs of favouring as other New Zealand commentators, however at a certain point it is as though he's selling the viewer a damned moment, embellishing to the point that gives any person a brief start followed by the realization of the actual banality of the moment he's squealing at. I call it IPL-syndrome.

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to hear this guy at some point say:

"EXTRAORDINARY leave from JONATHAN TROTTT, EXCEPTIONAL BATTING, THINGS ARE GETTING INTERESTING AT LORD'S JUST LOOK AT HIS CONCENTRATION MY WUOARD POMMY IT'S RIVETING"

I could be wrong though.

pommie mbangwa and danny morrison are two of the better commies out there. sunil gavaskar's cricket analysis is next to none but he gets annoying sometimes.

I find Morrison very annoying to be honest, way too loud and over the top but I guess that's what he has been told to do by his bosses.

The letter 'W' is 'Dabb' and thus a Volkswagen was referred to as "Vee Dabb".

& here we go...
Really? The best buddy in the business I've ever seen. Just makes things live.

Danny Morrison is an amazing guy:14:!

"PB" - "Personal best."

"Sprinting between the sticks" - "Running between the wickets."

Also likes bit of poetry.....

"Don´t bowl full P
To MSD."

"Full P" - "Full pitched."

"MSD" - "MS Dhoni" of course:msd.

To be honest I find him very annoying. He tries too hard to sound funny and clever and his lame jokes fall flat most of the time. He is well below the best commentators in the world, good for some trivial Bangladesh Sri Lanka and UAE ODIs only.

Guy is amazing enthusiasm, its a blend that makes it work Nicholas is amazing but someone like Shastri and Sanjay are boring as hell to listen to you need Shiva Rama, Bumble Danny who are the characters to come through with the serious comentators such as Nicholas, Hussain etc

His commentary is mad lol. 'Here we go, AND THERE WE GO'- commenting on maqsood whacking senanayake out

Every sentence is delivered the same, just with different words. Personally I think the best NZ commentator is Ian Smith, although they have quite a few good ones.

Just in!

"Sunil Narine goes without facing a pill."

I like him he actually made Pakistans series against SL in UAE exciting. And the UAE is one of the most boring places in the world to watch cricket

Not as good as shoaib akhtar on commentary but my second favourite

Danny: hello. . . . and goodbye!!!

Akhtar: ball ground se bahir!!!

loved it today, the guy is trying to get the down spirits high and having good fun.

great guy to be commentating. ALways fun to hear

Loved it when he went into the crowd wearing the gladiator costume and then got swallowed within the crowd. That was hilarious..

He is hysterical.

Loved the whole plot with him wearing the Quetta mascots head gear and getting drowned in the crowd.

As you can imagine, his style of commentary when "Fakhar" was batting caused a bit of amusement.

He has his own way of pronouncing everything, literally everything. Multan Sultans is pronounced as "Molten Solten" by him. :)):)))

Danny isn't a good commentator in the traditional sense. He isn't the first one to point out technical flaws in a player's stance etc. but is definitely a good entertainer. He is purpose built for this T20 era of cricket where its more about entertainment than appealing to the hardcore cricket fanbase. Nothing wrong with that though.

During Pakistan vs Sri Lanka Test Series in 2017, i listened to his commentary a lot and i think he knows a lot about game.

You need people like him for entertainment, but I personally prefer the more analytical commentators like Bazid and Slater. Slater in particular has been a great addition

He is inconsistent. Sometimes funny sometimes annoying. But Alan Wilkins is worse.
