I thoroughly enjoyed this series. Mostly in German, sometimes switching to English and French. It has the same somber feel as the 1980s original but wider scope. Half of it is based in the town of L’Orient as the sister of one of the submariners finds herself further and further compromised as she has to choose between her German and French heritage.
The series has no real heroes except perhaps Korvettenkapitan Hoffman and shows men behaving at their worst under the terrible pressure of total warfare and Nazi tyranny.
