David Warner's Sunrises Hyderabad are favourites and will most likely win this game. But I will be backing my boy, Shreyas Iyer to go all the way this season.

The rising star of Indian cricket, go young man, make this season yours. Only two steps to go. :ds

Fun fact: David Warner reminded a struggling Shreyas Iyer recall the changes to his side. Poor Iyer couldn't remember that they'd picked Shimron Hetmyer! I wonder who he's replacing though. We'll find out soon enough..

Just a question. When India is banning pakistani players from playing in IPL and all other suff they do, why are you guys watching IPL?

DC won't take any risks against Rashid and target the rest of the bowlers.

Because I am trying to work out if this is the best form of cricket on par with World T20 according to a forced agenda here

So what is your verdict? On par with WT20 or not?

No chance. It’s the best Franchise cricket league. But that is due to the window it is provided. It still would be the best if all franchise cricket leagues were given the same window and all ran at the same time (most probably)

But it would be interesting to see how things work out when a top international player can only represent one Franchise in the year instead of multiple representations.

Dhawan, Bumrah and de Villiers have proved in this tournament that they are high pressure big match players.

Also I’m trying to work out if there is any reality in the claim that Babar Azam no matter how good he is, will not make it into an IPL franchise because the local talent fulfils his requirement already. So to see if Babar displaces any of the overseas Batsmen

So, in the process of figuring this out, you went all the way, watching literally every game till the finals now? :yk

Exactly. You can’t provide an expert opinion on something without analysing the problem from head to toe.

B Azam would fit into teams like CSK and RCB where they have struggled with bat.
He will find it hard in teams like MI who mostly rely on local batting, so they could use the quota to get quality international bowlers.
He will definitely get picked up

I’m glad you acknowledge this. Some very arrogant posters here did not agree initially. For me Babar walks into these teams as a necessity more than a luxury:

1. RCB
2. CSK
3. KKR (they have been clueless with their openers)
4. Rajasthan Royals (night as well replace Smith now before it’s too late, or keep his replacement ready)

Hetmyer looks like he has gained about 50 pounds since I last saw him play.

How did you get that?

What are the strike rates of SKY, Kishan, Rana, Pandya, Shaw, Samson etc...?

Pant is really a leg side hack, just tried one and needless to say, failed miserably.

It's brilliant for SKY, Kishan, Pandya and Samson but only latter two are in squad. Among all our main batters, except Mayank and Dhawan, all that are in our T20 squad have played reasonably slow.

SunRisers problem is that they not getting enough boundaries here , they need couple of big overs here to come back in the game.

Sunrisers need 89 runs in 47 balls. RRR: 11.36

Williamson needs another batsman to support him here , he is playing well.

Samad taking apart Nortje...

60 needed of final five now.

Sunrisers need 51 runs in 24 balls. RRR: 12.75

One big over here can put Delhi under some thought

Abdul Samad 33(16 balls).

Brilliant power hitting. Smashed one six each of Rabada and Nortje.

DC 189/3 (20)

SRH 172/8 (20)

Delhi Capitals won by 17 runs

I love Rabada’s interviews. The guy had so much command in his way of speaking. I recon he would become a great coach as well after cricket

* Maiden appearance in IPL final for eight original franchises:
RR, CSK - 2008
Deccan Chargers, RCB - 2009
MI - 2010
KKR - 2012
KXIP - 2014
Delhi Daredevils/Capitals - 2020

So in the end fielding was the difference.. anyway well played SRH, great tournament for them considering they missed key players in crucial moments.. Best of luck to DC for final..

Delhi Capitals will meet Mumbai Indians in the final of the Indian Premier League after defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad by 17 runs in Abu Dhabi.

Delhi were taken to 189-3 by 78 from Shikhar Dhawan and Shimron Hetmyer's 42 not out.

Sunrisers were reduced to 44-3 in the chase, only to be kept alive by New Zealand captain Kane Williamson.

But after he went for 67, Kagiso Rabada took three wickets in the 19th over to effectively seal it for Delhi.

The Capitals, previously Delhi Daredevils, have never reached the IPL final before.

The showpiece will be a meeting between the top two teams from the group stage, who also met in the first match of the play-offs.

On that occasion, defending champions Mumbai were comfortable winners, securing a direct passage to the final and sending Delhi to a second-chance meeting with Sunrisers.

Hyderabad, coached by ex-England boss Trevor Bayliss, finished third in the group, but were arguably favourites to progress given their previous form of four successive wins was vastly superior to the Capitals' five defeats in six games.

However, after winning the toss, Delhi seized the initiative through a blistering opening stand of 86 in only 8.2 overs between Dhawan and Australia all-rounder Marcus Stoinis.

After Stoinis was bowled by Rashid Khan, Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer laboured over his 21, only for West Indian Hetmyer to restore the momentum.

Sunrisers, who again omitted England's Jonny Bairstow, saw captain David Warner bowled by Rabada in the second over of their reply.

Stoinis removed Priyam Garg and Manish Pandey in the same over before Williamson set about an improbable recovery operation.

Batting with masterful authority, Williamson was threatening to pull off something remarkable when he sliced Stoinis to deep cover.

He had at least given Sunrisers hope, only for that to be extinguished by Rabada's burst of three wickets in four balls.

Predicted a DC vs MI final from the start. The 2 best teams in the tournament. Hope we get a good game.

Hopefully DC can come out guns blazing, Bumrah and Boult will be hard to take on
