The leaders shed light on the plans for the season and explained how the addition of two teams will elevate the level of competition and add more thrill to the tournament. The 2024 Abu DhabI T10 will be the biggest season in history with 10 participating teams.

Mohammad Nabi, skipper of newly-formed Ajman Bolts, said, “It feels great to be a part of the league which is a champion in introducing and popularizing the T10 cricket across the globe. Though it’s our debut season, we are pretty confident and are training well to make the season memorable for the team.”

UP Nawabs’ skipper Rahmanullah Gurbaz, echoed similar statements and said, “The team is in good shape. It’s the team’s first season and we are thrilled to make it an exciting and successful journey. The Nawabs are here to stay.”

The season 7 champions New York Strikers will also be beginning their title defense journey on November 22 against Morrisville Samp Army. Vice-captain Mohammad Amir addressed the media and said, “We had a pretty successful campaign last year and will attempt to replicate it this season as well and win our second consecutive title. All players are pumped up to be back in action on the field and have a great two weeks of cricket."

Rohan Mustafa also expressed his delight in joining Samp Army as the skipper this year and shared his vision for the season. “It feels great to be a part of this wonderful team and tournament. The goal is clear- to lead the team to the championship title. However, at the same time, it is important to ensure that the players enjoy the process and the sport and give our viewers performances worth enjoying.”

Team Abu Dhabi, which is also going to mark the beginning of the season with their clash against Ajman Bolts, will also be looking forward to winning their debut title this year. The new captain Phil Salt confirmed the team’s agenda and how well-prepared they are for the new challenge.

“The aim, obviously, will be to lift the trophy on December 2. It’s my first season with the team in the role of skipper and I will try to lead the team in the best way possible, that yields us positive results. All players are bonding well and also giving their all in the training sessions, reflecting the commitment towards our collective goal and the enthusiasm to make it happen.”

Two-time Abu Dhabi T10 Champions, Deccan Gladiators and Northern Warriors are also pumped up to create history by lifting the third title and becoming the most successful team in the history of the league.

Gladiators’ star David Wiese gave a brief insight into the team’s agenda for this season. “We are one of the most successful teams in the league and wish to become the squad with the greatest number of titles by winning the trophy this year. We fell short slightly last year but this season, the aim will be to not let the history repeat and emerge successful in the title quest.”

Warriors have a similar goal and the opening batter Colin Munro is aligned to make it successful. “Although we have two titles to our name, it’s been quite some time since we lifted our last trophy. This season, we are aiming to change this and add a third trophy to our cabinet, becoming the most successful team in the league. All players are quite zealous to kick off the action and we are looking forward to adding yet another exciting chapter to our book.”

Bangla Tigers, Chennai Braves and Delhi Bulls are all aiming to lift their debut cup, especially after the leadership of the three teams has now been given in the hands of new skippers.

Shakib Al Hasan, skipper of Bangla Tigers, stated, “It feels great to be back with the team and experience the exhilarating atmosphere of this tournament. All players are aligned with the team’s objective and game plan and cannot wait to step out on the field and show their exemplary skills.”

Thisara Perera, who took over the Chennai Braves’ captaincy this year, is also quite determined to make the season memorable. “The franchise joined the league in 2021 and is yet to open its title account. That’s the goal for every player who is a part of our squad. Players are doing well in the practice sessions and with the help of our excellent coaching staff, we should be able to finally mark a victory this season.”

James Vince will be a part of Delhi Bulls this year. “The adrenaline has started to kick in as we are just a day away from the beginning of this season. But the team is well-prepared and trained and is quite excited to begin the campaign, which we hope ends up with the trophy in our hands.”

The eighth season of Abu Dhabi T10 will commence on November 21 with the debut match between Team Abu Dhabi and Ajman Bolts. Being played in a round-robbin format, the playoffs will begin on December 1 with the Qualifier and two Eliminator games happening on the same day. PSL team owners express concerns over clash with IPL

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) teams owners urged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to brief on the arrangements for the tournament next year.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) and the 10th edition of the PSL is expected to clash next year due to Champions Trophy which will be hosted by Pakistan in February and March.

With the recent appointment of Salman Naseer as the head of PSL affairs, franchises owners are optimistic about potential improvements.

Team owners expressed delight by sending a joint letter congratulating Salman over his appointment.

In their letter, they expressed their commitment to work together to fix the league matters.

Owners urged Naseer to have a conversation with the cricket boards, specifically England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), as the board has hinted at restricting its players from participating in other leagues, excluding the IPL, during their domestic season.

This has raised concerns about players’ participation in the forthcoming tournament in Pakistan, as it could jeopardise the domestic league.

Meanwhile, the IPL auction is scheduled to take place in the upcoming week in Saudi Arabia, with the lists already being released.

Recalling the national board’s previous vows, the letter discussed about the establishment of the PSL as a separate company.

Need to Carry This Momentum Forward Says Mohammad Amir of New York Strikers

*Evin Lewis and Kusal Perera Reflect on Clinical Ten-Wicket Victory Over Team Abu Dhabi at Abu Dhabi T10*

Abu Dhabi November 26, 2024; New York Strikers showcased their championship potential with a commanding performance at Zayed Cricket Stadium. The match witnessed an exceptional bowling display by Pakistan's pace sensation Mohammad Amir, while Sri Lankan opener Kusal Perera's explosive batting ensured a comprehensive victory for the Strikers.

New York Strikers demonstrated their prowess with a clinical performance against Team Abu Dhabi, securing a convincing 10-wicket victory in the 2024 Abu Dhabi T10 tournament. Team Abu Dhabi's innings never gained momentum as they struggled against a disciplined bowling attack, managing only 73/7 in their allocated 10 overs. The Strikers' response was emphatic, with opener Kusal Perera's masterful unbeaten 56 steering them to victory in just 6.2 overs.

Mohammad Amir, who recorded outstanding figures expressed his satisfaction with the team's performance, "This was a must-win game for us, and we're still in contention now. We need to carry this momentum forward as it's a short format with little margin for error. We performed as a team today, which is crucial with three important games ahead of us."

Evin Lewis, who provided solid support with an unbeaten 17, emphasized the significance of the win, "It's important that we get some good victories, and today's performance will boost our confidence. With three more games ahead, we need to maintain this winning momentum as we aim for the finals."

Match hero Kusal Perera, who dominated with his explosive 56, attributed the success to team effort, "The bowlers did a really good job. In a T10 game, restricting the opposition to 74 is exceptional. The wicket offered something for the bowlers today, and we capitalized on that. The team's confidence is high, but we're staying focused on the challenges ahead."

New York Strikers will look to continue their winning momentum when they face UP Nawabs in their upcoming match on November 27 at Zayed Cricket Stadium. This victory has significantly boosted their chances of qualifying for the playoffs in the 2024 Abu Dhabi T10 tournament.

On a slow turning track, Morrisville made the most of the dropped catches from Bulls. Charith Asalanka’s 25-ball 51-run innings further helped Samp Army post 112/5 in 10 overs.

Banton gave a good start to Delhi in chase, scoring 25 runs in 11 balls. But after Mohammad Zahid cleaned up his stumps with his first ball, the momentum began shifting towards Morrisville. With a few tight overs from Mohammad Zahid, Qais Ahmad and Karim Janat, Morrisville shackled Delhi Bulls until Tim David started turning things around once again.

Zahid bowled two wide balls in the final over, turning the contest into a nail-biting thriller. With Delhi needing five runs to win on the final ball, David was run out and Samp Army won the match by 3 runs.

'Great boost to have one of Indian greats with us in Abu Dhabi T10,' says Bangla Tigers' Dasun Shanaka on Dinesh Karthik

27th November, 2024: Sri Lanka's Dasun Shanaka believes the presence of Indian cricketers in Abu Dhabi T10 helps in attracting fan attention and also helps in developing the talent. The bowling allrounder, who is playing for Bangla Tigers in the 2024 Abu Dhabi T10, is teammates with former Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik in the league's eighth edition. The former Sri Lankan captain said that Karthik's presence is a major boost for their side.

"Dinesh Karthik shares a lot of experience with us, especially the youngsters. It's a great boost to have one of the Indian greats here with us. His presence really helps our combination and he also attracts a lot of fan attraction he brings. There are a lot of fans backing him," he said.

The 33-year-old added that having Indian players in T10 helps in elevating the level of the competition. "Indian players coming here is a very special moment because the players who have played IPL and carry so much experience on their shoulders. Everyone is looking forward to the same - and hopefully, more and more Indian players start coming here in T10 from next year onwards."

Shanaka's remarks came after his side went down to Ajman Bolts in Abu Dhabi T10 by 31 runs on Wednesday at Zayed Cricket Stadium. In the match, Alex Hales smashed an unbeaten 75 off 30, setting up a mammoth target of 134 for the Tigers to chase. Shanaka said that the bowlers were a tad bit expensive in the afternoon which cost them the match.

"I think we were a little bit expensive today with the ball. We have to take it as this is T10 format. It is one of the days when our bowlers did not click. Alex played really well and hence they were able to set up a massive target on this wicket. We had to bowl from day one to chase down the total. We cannot hang around and look for the singles and rotate strike. That is one area where we unable to click. Hopefully we will bounce back," he said.

Meanwhile, just after the Abu Dhabi T10 final on December 2nd, the highly-anticipated inaugural edition of Lanka T10 will take place in Pallekele between December 11th to December 18th, continuing the legacy of the fastest-growing format of the sport.

Expressing his excitement about the upcoming tournament, Shanaka said, "Over the years, Abu Dhabi T10 has achieved the highest standards as compared to many other leagues. But as we travel to Sri Lanka, there will be many stars coming there as well."

"So it will be a really good competition and the T10 format as well. I expect a similar standards as Abu Dhabi in Lanka T10. And that showcases how far this format has grown. Hopefully, it will happen the same way," he signed off.
