Did Pakistan deliberately lose the first Test against South Africa to prevent India from qualifying for the World Test Championship 2023-25 final?

I cannot believe what I just witnessed.

They were in a position to win the Test, and Mohammad Abbas was on song with a brilliant spell.

Pakistan had them down at 99/8 but then let them chase down 150.

Damn, India is not good enough to win anything on its own and needed a helping hand by us.

We dont feed beggers, so yes it was intentional
 
It’s the KG show. Pakistan have dozens of 155-160 kmph fast bowlers but they can’t bowl out KG Rabada.

I doubt so lol They probably thought SA would play with circumspection and choke themselves which they didn't. Only 3 main bowlers mostly used.

That's 19 consecutive losses.

Mind you, Bangladesh won a match in NZ in that period.

@Bhaijaan It's probably payback for MSD allegedly losing to England and knocking PAK out.

Although unlike a large number PAK posters who were upset/angry with that loss, most Indians dont seem particularly upset to see PAK bottle this

Ill take pakistan lose and we are not depending on them .

We can still qualified for WTC final .

1. Test cricket is not that big amongst desi crowd

2. Ind's pathway is still open. SA losing 0-2 to Pak would mean Ind can go in even if they lose to Aus. MCG test is not yet over and even if Ind lose that and win SCG and draw the series 2-2, can go in if SL win at least one match vs Aus.

I was joking. Of course PAK didn't lose on purpose.

Not good enough bowlers, we let Bosch scored 80 in the first innings as well, we need couple of test match bowlers and Naseem is not a red ball bowler.

INDIA'S QUALIFICATION SCENARIO FOR WTC FINAL:

- If MCG test ends in a draw.
- SCG Test is a must win match.
- Then Australia shouldn't win both games against Sri Lanka.


(India can qualify even if BGT ends in 1-1 but then SL should win the series 1-0 which is impossible as Galle always have match results)

Then India can play in the final at Lord's.

If MCG test ends in a draw & we win the SCG. And Aus SL series 1-1 ,india will play the final .

We were 100% determined not to let dushman mulk take advantage of our success. To ensure this, we made a strategic deal with South Africa: we agreed to help them secure a spot in the World Test Championship (WTC) Final, and in return, they would ease up in the last two Test matches, giving Pakistan the opportunity to win the series.

This arrangement worked out perfectly for both sides. Pakistan would get the chance to win an important series on South African soil, which would be a huge achievement, while South Africa would qualify for the WTC Final. It was a mutually beneficial situation, where both teams gained something significant from the agreement.
 
Oh bhai, Pakistan doesn't know how to snub teams. Their just rubbish.

Shan wouldn't want to deliberately lose. He knows full well that he has lost every single game ever since he's captained and his performance has been crap in all of them.

His best performance was a 150 on a road pitch, the same road pitch where Brooks + Root tonked 300 and 262.

The only 2 games he won was due to divine aqib intervention.
 
I agree with OP. There is no other reason why Pakistan will not be able to take last 2 wickets.

Yep. No need to come up with any conspiracies. This team has been beyond awful for the past decade in these tours.

Pakistan are just an awful Test team these days. Even a series win at home is seen as miraculous.

They are however odi series aren't what they use to be.

Test series + Tournaments is cricket nowadays.

We'll have to wait and see how pakistan performs in CT.

Considering we've been a pretty much mediocre side for over a decade with the occasional transient performance, that's not really a big surprise. We're kinda just making up the numbers these days.

I wish there was a stat that showed in how many of those matches we were in winning positions and just bottled it due to poor captaincy/dropped catches/etc.
