Did Pakistan design the weakest middle order in the competition?

Asif Ali, Sarfraz and Malik.

Did anyone ever feel confident if the top order failed? I think they needed to play a proper batsmen, to expect runs from either Malik or Asif was a massive gamble. It probably cost this game for sure.

This middle order will only score brownie runs when we bat first. No chance they are chasing anything.

Its the top four. That's why CT was lucky because the bowlers did most of the work.

We badly miss azher ali here

Imam
Fakhar
Babar
Azhar ali
Hafeez
Sarfaraz
Asif Ali

Asif Ali and Malik have no business playing international cricket.

Inzi the revolutionary hasn't even picked reserve batsmen to replace them with.

How harris doesnt get into that mid order of tailenders i do not know

Hassan can play the role Asif does. Drop him for Shadab and Malik for Haris.

H Sohail
M Hafeez
S Ahmad
S Khan
H Ali
W Riaz

Shoaib Malik has always been a poor player and should have been discarded years ago. Asif Ali has proven to be a liability with bat and in the field. Both should be dropped for good.

When you select to 38+ guys past their prime one should tone down the expectations a bit.

Against India

Fakhar ( only due to CT record )
Imam
Babar
Hafezz
Harris ( unfortunately, no other choice )
Sarfraz
Imad
Shadab
Hasan
Wahab
Amir

I would play imad wasim over afridi, but i think the rest is fine.

Inzi the revolutionary had 4 years to build a batting line up and this is what he comes up with. Yet we find people like Markhor saying that he is the best thing to happen to Pak cricket ever.

Haris sohail, shadab khan and imad wasim shouod all come into the team.

Shoaib malik, shaheen shah afridi and asi ali should be PERMANENTLY OUT!

To be honest that's not a bad lineup. Not a huge fan of Hafeez (okay he is more fluent than Malik, but he's also been mediocre his whole career, with an odd flashy performance here and there)

Depending on game situation I'd swap Hasan and Shadab around, ideally you'd want to have someone who scampers (shadab, sarfaraz) batting with a player who can hit out (hasan, wahab).

Inzi has his faults but it is Sarfaraz who considers Malik and Hafeez as the backbone of our batting.

All that was needed was 50 runs between asif and malik and pakistan wouldve won

U cant be too critical tho They arent good enough in the first place What do expect when both have pretty avge list a stats

Rizwan deserved to be at the WC more than Sarfraz,Malik, and Asif Ali. He got 2 centuries . The other 3 cant even get 1 century between them in months.

Rizwan is slowish scorer, but at least he is a proper batsman. Same goes with Haris. Malik and Asif can hit the odd big six off a spinner, but in a pressure situation genuine batting skills are always more useful. Everyone was saying in the match thread that Imam and Babar had to stay in because we know those guys aren't going to be able to chase anything down.

I honestly think the only worse middle order is probably Afghanistan, and not even sure about that.

Rizwan is decent at 4 or 5. We could have then played Hafeez at 6 which is his best position.

Our middle order is pathetic. You cant win the WC with this weak middle order.

Said it before that the batting lacks at least one classy batsman in the middle. Sarfaraz and Malik are simply nowhere near good enough where as Asif should be no way near the team. He is no way near international class for heaven sake.

Such a horrid middle order, but we all knew this coming into the WC.

What's happening is our top and lower orders are good, but middle order is trash.

They've put on 40 and 64 for the 7th and 8th wicket, but the highest stand for either 5th or 6th wicket is 32.

Which means once the 4th wicket falls, a couple more will too.

Need to get Imad Wasim in that middle order.

Excuse me it was Asian Clive Lloyd that decided to bench our best player of swing and seam in Haris Sohail in favour of his senior buddy Shoaib Malik.

Not to worry, only a few more games before Captain Fantastic is put out of his misery and we can rebuild Pakistan cricket.

Exactly
This is not a middle order at all, this is suicidal order!

With Inzi at the helm we can expect more of his relatives to make it to the side.

Wrong title, what is Pakistan? Its Inzamam ul Haq, who has designed this batting order not in few months but in years. He has backed Malik, Hafeez, Azam, selected his nephew Imam during Zimbabwe tour to cement his place. Selecting T20 technique players in longer formats and ignoring domestic talent who have performed in the ODI and Test formats.

There is no reserve for a opener or one down, so that coach/captain does'nt dare remove his nephew or Akmal cousin from the team, which means we are %&*$. Nepotism and decisions favoring nephew and friends over the country.

Epic comeback.

His hero is never to blame. I don't get how you can support a player who hides behind tailenders like he did today.

So hands up which clever person thought hafeez sarfraz and malik were good enough to win the world cup?

Whilst harris warms the bench

U couldnt make this up
