I think, In PSL, more runs were scored for the fast out fields, rather than the wickets, which still were better than UAE.
UAE actually is the 2nd worst place on planet earth to play cricket - dead slow & low, dying wickets, on large & extremely heavy out-field ...... you can't get a worse combination for stroke players or great timers. Best player on UAE track is probably Misbah, which tells lot & no wonder that guy has the fastest Test hundred there. This year, I found Lahore PSL wicket to be fantastic for batting; would have been for bowling as well had there been a bit more carry & boundaries been set at 70 metres distance - ideal T20 score was possible like 197/9 and game hanging in balance till 40th over, if it's between 2 evenly matched teams.
PAK's FC wickets are the worst in planet earth and add to that QeA trophy arranged in OCT-DEC period, you can't get a worse condition for overall cricket, any where. If they make QeA wicket like the Lahore PSL one - that'll be even worse for FC cricket; because those 250 overs FC games (Only PCB can expect more than 65 overs in a Day in NOV-DEC, in mid to north PAK), then will produce scores like 343/4 dec, 345/6 dec. and 243/4 .... match end in draw after 2.3 innings; with batsmen and bowlers going through motions for 4 days ...
PAK is good in UAE Test, because that suits Misbah model of operation - 450 overs on absolute rubbish, and one can go through the motions at 2.5 rate ..... time & Yasir will hunt the under-prepared tourists by Day 5. I have hardly seen Misbah's PAK to force a result from an advantage - worst example was the Cape Town Test, where after 339 in PAK first innings, SAF crawled back to win that Test from 105/6 or so - apart from drop catches, main reason was Misbah & Azhar batted at 1.7 rate on 4th morning with a 15 or so 1st innings lead - that one example is enough to explain moods operandi. That 2nd Test in Palekele was another classic example - Azhar took 10+ hours for his 139 and that didn't take PAK far away from SRL, who chased 150 with 3/4 down. And, those epic chokes at MCG, Edbeston, Hamilton, Barbados (?) are results of QeA style - players hardly ever had to play out of skin to save a game on what is basically a lottery of wicket. One key observation is that in each of those 6 Tests mentioned here, one particular batsman had good to great outings - Azhar Ali, at snails pace, without ever even threatening to dominate any bowler ......... and that's exactly what is PAK domestic FC wickets are producing - great for batsman like Azhar Ali & Fawad & Misbah ........ those who understands the game, should be able to connect dots here about the QeA wicket (& playing condition).
Lahore wala wicket with a bit of carry and bounce, 70 metre boundary and 6.5 X 4 = 26 hours minimum playing time with strict regulation on 16 overs/hour (otherwise add 6 X number of overs lost as extra runs) and half an hour extension to ensure 104 overs/day - that's 416 overs (420 actually, 20 overs on last hour of Day 4 if the game lasts till death), on good, firm wicket under sun where teams can force result even after 1st innings of 625 & 575 .............. that's 95% of the problem solved.
And, it'll stop 40 years old pacers playing FC cricket faking 5-10 years of age, because now he'll need to bowl 23-25 overs per day and 38-48 overs per FC game - at present that's in the range of 15-16 and 27-29; which hardly helps developing fast bowlers body or stamina. That'll ask spinners as well to flight & turn, rather than dart; while batsmen will be given a fair exchange - the wicket is good enough to post a 300, if you have the concentration to focus for long and has the technique to survive unplayable bowling (not unplayable balls on wicket's credit - that's a shooter or a cracker from good length after 1st day).
Batting is an unique art - extremely monotonous job, but highest level of perfectionist job. That skill is learned on match condition, and it's often self learned. I read the biggest misconception of cricket in PP - "play on tougher wickets, batsmen will improve" - it can't be more wrong anything in cricket. I give a classic example - IND has about 35 FC teams in Ranji (probably more) and in their FC cricket hardly any foreigners play, in fact hardly any Indian International plays - bottom line is Abu Nechim, Ashok Dinda, Rana Dev Bose, Binay Kumar, Md. Siraj, Rishi Dhawan ...... are the PRIME FAST BOWLERS in Ranji - still Indian batsmen are among best in world. If I come to BD, Tamim, Shakib, Mushi, Momin plays pacers worse than League cricket of Birmingham, still ....
Batting is self learned skill with the help/mentoring of a learned coach - by being in middle. Best medicine for a batsman is to give him an absolute belter, and a decent attack to face - then tell him, every thing is in your favor - bat for 12 hours and score 343 ............ Umar Akmal won't do that against a club team in 10 attempts, but Jadeja has 2 FC Triple ...... This is exactly the reason why Babar's LO average is over 50, Test average is under 25 - his batting skills and techniques are fantastic - absolutely no issues there, at least with my little knowledge, I haven't seen anything that should suggest why his Test average shouldn't be close to his LO average.
