Do Bangladesh deserve to face India in the Champions Trophy semis?

There's a big gulf in class between the two teams and Bangladesh just about sneaked into the semi's, it would have been better if one of the Top 5 teams were facing India. I expect India to remind Bangladesh of their minnow status.
 
Bangladesh v India in a Semi-Final is also boring, its going to be a one sided affair which no one really cares about because India will walk all over Bangladesh

India would walk all over BD.


I think India would dish out a bigger phainti to BD than what Pakistan dished out to England.

That's why I think the rain screwed Australia over. At least they would've given India a proper fight.
 
Bangladesh is probably the only side which has won the toughest game of the tournament, not many sides can successfully chase 280 after being 44/4 against a tough New Zealand bowling attack.
 
Done .......... just withdrawn my day off - can't imagine what will happen to us. Can't even see our kids torn apart - hope they cross 84 this time.

BD can still shake the Indian tree tomorrow ..... this is a game of Cricket .... nothing is certain .... ask England !!!!

What is all this jinx nonesense being spewed am very accurate in my assesment of all teams thus far and if you go by my old posts I have stated that India and Pakistan are going to meet in the final see the rug mat thread.

But it's a shame that I can't enjoy the semi involving BD and India because it is going to be a one sided thrashing of BD who just about sneaked into the KO stages, obviously I hope am wrong and like some of the BD players but a semi involving BD makes the Champions Trophy look really bad and [MENTION=132916]Junaids[/MENTION] was probably right all along! It really must be a joke! I like to see competetive cricket! With balance between bat and ball with teams who are evenly matched on a level playing field

Here comes Bangladesh bashing thread.Actually,i was looking for it,knowing the nature of some posters since i have joined PP. Anybody can open any type of thread,which is merely a reflection of one's inside.Somebody is rich and somebody is really depleted and poor inside.It is wise to stay humble after a win,only stupids do the opposite.

Do you guys know that Australia and West Indies did not play in Sri Lanka during the 96 WC thus awarded 4 points to them for free? Does that mean they didn't deserve to be the champions? Definitelt no. Also I don't get why you are writing off Bangladesh like that. Of course we were lucky to escape with a point against Australia but hey doesn't fortune favor the brave? Also what did Australia do against England and would they have beaten New Zealand in their first match? I think we should accept what happened because we can't change it. As for tomorrow's game, India are clear favourites no doubt but in sports and especially cricket there is always the element of surprise.

Also as far as deserving to be in the semis comes, dude we are already there and yes we definitely deserved it.
 
I think we were lucky. Realistically, all 3 of Aus, NZ and BD would have 2 points each if rain had not interfered.

But hey, the equation was simple. Win their final match and go through, BD managed it while others failed. Also, BD gave a good fight to England, going on to score 305 against England, NZ managed 220, Aus managed 275.

It's a good thing this thread exists, else you'd have had Bangladeshis complaining that a thread bashing them wasn't made : mauka
 
Bangladesh will get crushed by India. Their poor bowling will make this a very boring semi final.

Their only hope is chasing.

India will show us Bangladesh's real level, no more hiding
 
When I praise India superiority over BD they call me jinxer etc when I criticise India they call me a menace! I really can't win, you lot are not very friendly people!

It's a fact that BD got into the semi's via a fluke and don't belong on the level playing field as India now even I would not troll about BD being better then India now or is that what you want me to do in order to satisfy your superstitious beliefs because on any other day you'd display a bit more confidence in your team because I find it hard to believe you feel India is inferior to Bangladesh otherwise.

It's going to be a big miss match, bit like Floyd Mayweather vs Conor Mcgregor and I have no interest in exhibitions which is why I feel India v BD is an insult to the Champions Trophy, that too in a semi-final !

Typicall I make fun of BD. After seeing that mind blowing chase against NZ after being at 30 for 4 I can't help but admiring their progress.
 
India is favourite but in knock out games an upset can not be ruled out.If Bangladesh play good cricket they can win.I was sure England will make a huge score against Pakistan (340-360) and then bowl Pakistan out for 180.Pakistan put a good performance and they beat a strong team.Pakistan were not overawed by England.
 
India is by far the best LOI team in the world, its not even up for discussion. India will bulldoze Bangladesh and storm into the finals without a sweat.

Bangladesh absolutely have no chance. Especially because they're a former Pakistan state. Both are absolute minnow countries and don't deserve to be playing international cricket. India will annihilate Bangladesh.
 
The biggest issue for them is Fizz not performing to potential. He has been successfully negotiated in this tournament. I expect India to perform along the dotted lines... Start slow, build a platform and then launch. Hopefully our bowlers remind them of the practice game.

India vs Pakistan final is also expected to go along the same lines, a boring one sided win for INDIYAAA :srini
 
They've been mediocre in their batting so far. Heading for a sub par total

And batting was their "strength"
 
Regardless of what happens in today's match, I have been getting calls from my Indian friends who are seemingly over the moon, telling me that we have another Mauqa. The height of over confidence is staggering.

Yeah ,it's good to have a beating by a 8th(then) ranked team than 6th(then) ranked team in the final

Your facts aren't quite correct.

Every team needs some luck to reach a final. In 1992, Pakistan indeed were indebted to rain and relied on the 1 point v England. However, you are also forgetting that in an earlier game, Pakistan were extremely well placed v South Africa chasing around 216. Then came the rain and a ridiculous D/L target (in those days, D/L completely screwed the chasing team). Pakistan lost. So the luck even itself out.

This time around, again there was SOME luck - the game v Sri Lanka comes to mind.

I was delighted that BD made the semi finals. Was it deserved? Of course not - Australia were killing BD. BD got hammered in 3 out of 4 games. No-one in their right mind would say BD were the 2nd best team in that group.

Did they deserve that luck? Of course they did! They played splendidly v Kiwis. But it spoiled the semis cos India had a walkover. Aus v India would have been a cracker.

BD didnt deserve to be in semifinal. Had they won 2 match in the group, then they deserved it. But against england and australia they werent good enough.The match vs india was pure dull.
 
You are right brother.I forgot about the Pakistan vs South Africa match of 1992.They were unlucky not to win that match.i watched it live on TV.cant forget the jonty Rhodes special running out inji.
You are also Right about Australia being the stronger side than BD,but not the deserving side as rain saved them against kiwis.

Looking back at CT, no one can give garruntee that Australia vs India match would have been interesting.Both the semis and the final were totally one sided boring match for the neutrals.

I agree. Aus v India sounds good on paper. Maybe it would have been a walkover for one of the teams.

Please take this as healthy banter. It would be good for cricket for BD to be a strong team. I want all Asian teams to be strong. I just expected more from BD based on their recent performances.

If you look at my posts, I am not saying Pakistan are a great side! They are a good side who clicked based on playing with freedom and bringing in the right players.
