What's new

Pakistan's ICC Champions Trophy 2025 campaign comes to a disappointing end after washout against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi

I hope we get maybe 10-15 overs play today and Pakistan bat first

Don’t mind seeing Bobsy and Rizzu get out during a tricky overcast spell

No, this time there is no way back , they will be axed as soon the game is called off.
Here’s my prediction,

They will not be axed. They will most likely be given time off, and then the agenda machines will force them back into the sides for the Asia cup and 2026 World Cup.

Agenda machine includes you too.

So, is there no chance of this match taking place even a shortened one?
No chance, It's raining cats and dogs in Pindi, and the ground isn't fully covered. There will be puddles and lakes on the field, making it impossible for the groundsman to dry it.

Good thing that it is raining, otherwise some softies would have scored some useless runs.

A washout today would mean Pakistan ending up with no win in ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

No chance bro. It's raining here and I don't see this rain stopping anytime soon.

Well that’s a shame. Then again, point apiece shared by the brothers 😊.

I will also Thank God! That I Didn’t have to see Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur bat again. Useless legends. Never did anything great like winning an icc event or even asia cup, for the country, despite playing for more than 18years! Mushfiq has been playing since 2005!

Think of it pragmatically

A washout means Pakistan will end their campaign without 3 losses
I honestly find picture very poetic. Idk if its convenient timing or some nod to the future, but it feels like 2017 sarfi Is mocking rizwan, misbah, ramiz, Aqib and babar. Almost as if he knew that he'd get the last laugh.

Even the rain Gods don't want to know which of these is the weaker side ! 🙂
Jokes aside on current form through sheer confidence alone, Bangladesh would have won this encounter.

Pakistan is at an all time low while Bangladesh goes into each tournament already expecting to lose so they don't really care.

Pakistan is too demotivated to even compete. It would have been similar to rocky vs clubber lang first fight. Aka rocky is clearly the superior and more experienced fighter. He has no rhyme or reason to lose however he was just too demotivated to even fight. At the very start of the battle, He couldn't even stare at clubber lang dead in the eyes.

2025 Pakistan that would have faced Bangladesh is the weakest Pakistan in history. Ik I keep saying this every season.

For example I said 2023 Pakistan is the weakest in history, then i said 2024 and now I'm saying 2025. But it's not my fault that Pakistan somehow finds a way to keep getting weaker and weaker every year lol.

Even if the rain stops, drainage is gonna take the whole day. Forget about the game now..

Be happy with 1 point... Yahoooo... Thank you Aaqaib Javed..

So no match today. We missed the opportunity to find out who could have taken the wooden spoon

:rabada2

Who told them to host in pindi during this season . Should have been multan

So misery ended for Pak fans.... Pakistan survived a whitewash and ended up with 1 point... #VICTORYyyyyyyyyyyy

Pakistan's ICC Champions Trophy 2025 campaign comes to a disappointing end after a washout against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi

Heavy rain resulted in a complete washout, ensuring the host finished their tournament campaign without securing a single victory and ending at the bottom of the table.

Match abandoned between Pakistan and Bangladesh as rain takes over Rawalpindi

Both sides have lost their games against India and New Zealand so far, knocking them out of contention for a semi-final spot at the tournament.

Rain has played spoilsport in Rawalpindi, meaning the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 match between Pakistan and Bangladesh has been abandoned.

Both sides were hoping to end their campaigns with a win, but instead they both receive one point apiece.

Hosts Pakistan have endured a Champions Trophy 2025 to forget at home, after falling short in the tournament opener in Karachi against New Zealand by 60 runs and then losing out to India by six wickets in Dubai that virtually knocked them out of the race for the semi-finals.

Bangladesh, meanwhile, lost their first game to India as they chased down the target with six wickets to spare, following which the Black Caps prevailed over them by five wickets, confirming India and New Zealand's place in the last four.

A win today in Rawalpindi will be a mere consolation for both sides, with nothing left to play for.

Well these washout are making it a glum tournament, only hope now is that final happens in Pakistan

A gloomy end sums up the entire campaign. A thorough embarrassment and nowhere near worth the 29 year wait for an ICC tournament

So, Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur are finally done with international cricket. This was supposed to be their last game.

Official end of the senior generation (Tamim, Shakib, Mahmudullah, Mushfiqur, Mashrafe).

If Pakistan had lost today they won't make it it next CT, was that correct and what's the current status are we in or its bye bye

A forgettable tournament for Pakistan fans and got to feel sad for them. All the political chaos regarding Bharat’s insistence to play elsewhere, all the anxiety regarding renovations, finally putting it all together, but when it came to doing it on the field their team let them down massively, losing to Bharat and then these washouts, one semi final already being played out of Pakistan and staring at the prospect the final might also be in Dubai if Bharat wins its semi. Everything that could go wrong went wrong.

I would play Irfan Niazi instead of TT and to be honest cant find anyone else so Saud stays.

Why does an indian fan care so much about Pakistan vs Bangladesh to comment and reply to me?

Why does an Indian fans care to watch and obsessively comment on every match thread in ct so far? Including eng vs afg? They ain't in your group either?

Why does an Indian fan exist on a pakistami site? Tsk tsk tsk
This site wont be as interesting without Indian posters tbh.

Pakistani posters are mostly singing Rizbar Rizbar whole day.

^^ So basically you?

I dont think it's all doom and gloom for Pak. CT is too short of a format to judge anything. However, they would be very disappointed they couldn't capitalize against their arch rival even after 150-2 with their middle over collapse.

I am very disappointed that game got rained out. Wanted to see Mushfiqur's and Mahmudullah's final game.

So, after all the hoopla, renovations, delays, negotiations, etc. etc..., Pak. got to play a grand total of two matches. Both of which they lost.

It was about hosting. To prove to the other boards that Pakistan can host tournament matches. WC matches should be the next step.

For WC matches hosted by India in future, PCT matches to be played in Pakistan.

The gift that is the useless Ban team keeps coming LOL !

Shanto believes Bangladesh's Champions Trophy fight was ‘inspiring’ :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Bangladesh's Champions Trophy campaign ended in disappointment, but captain Najmul Hossain Shanto took encouragement from their bowling performances.

Bangladesh had been away from ODI cricket for a long time. After an eight-month gap since their last series in March 2024, they returned to the format, but the experience was far from ideal. Losing 2-1 to Afghanistan in Sharjah, followed by a 3-0 whitewash against the West Indies in December, put them on the back foot.

Despite this, Najmul Hossain Shanto remained optimistic, setting lofty goals for the Champions Trophy and speaking about Bangladesh's title ambitions before departing for the tournament.

However, those aspirations quickly faded as Bangladesh struggled with a dismal batting display, managing only low scores in defeats to India and New Zealand, which confirmed their early exit. Yet, their bowling performances provided some positives. Even with modest targets to defend, Bangladesh's bowlers fought hard in both matches, something Shanto views as a source of encouragement.

Bangladesh managed to take four wickets while defending 228 against India, stretching the match into the 47th over. Apart from Rohit Sharma, India's batters found scoring difficult, with even Player of the Match Shubman Gill taking his time to reach a century—the slowest by an Indian batsman in a global tournament since the 2019 World Cup. Similarly, New Zealand needed until the 47th over to chase down Bangladesh's 236.

Reflecting on their ability to fight despite low scores, Shanto said, "If you look at our last two matches, we may have lost, but the way we stayed in the game for a long time was very inspiring for us. Hopefully, we can identify the small mistakes we made, plan accordingly, and implement those plans properly in the future. The positive thing is that we made good comebacks in both matches and stayed in the contest for extended periods."

Having already been eliminated after back-to-back defeats, Bangladesh were set to play their final group match against Pakistan. However, persistent rain led to the match being abandoned without a ball being bowled. Speaking after the match was called off, Shanto expressed his disappointment, saying, "Of course, it's frustrating (not being able to play), but some things are beyond our control. We wanted to play this match. But this is cricket, and such things happen, so I'm not too upset about it."

While Bangladesh's batting remained a major concern, Shanto was pleased with the team's bowling attack, particularly the pace department, which has historically been a weakness. "I'm really happy with how our pacers have been performing. In the past, our bowling, especially fast bowling, has been a major struggle. But in recent years, we've seen a significant rise in quality pacers. Even those back home are doing a fantastic job," he said.

"As a captain, I'm very pleased. The way Hasan Mahmud and Taskin Ahmed are bowling makes me really happy. We also have the experienced Mustafizur Rahman in the squad. Overall, our bowling attack looks strong. Our spin department has always been good, and now we have a leg-spinner in Rishad Hossain. The bowling unit is in good shape. I hope they continue to adapt to match situations and give their best for the team," Shanto added.

Towhid Hridoy scored a century against India, making 110 off 118 balls, while Jaker Ali Anik made 68 from 114 deliveries. Against New Zealand, Shanto himself scored 77 off 110 balls. Their low strike rates painted a clear picture of Bangladesh's batting struggles. Acknowledging this as a serious concern, Shanto said, "Of course (strike rotation is a problem). I think we need to work on it in the nets, focusing on how we can rotate the strike better and prepare for different match situations. The way we train and apply ourselves in matches is crucial. Hopefully, the players will understand what needs to be done."

The rain in Rawalpindi might just be a blessing in disguise for Pakistan – saving them from another potential thrashing and letting them walk away with a precious point instead of another embarrassing defeat!
PAK team shall thank the rain for saving them from a big embarrassment of loosing all the games, Rains helped them to get at least 1 point. Otherwise a null would have been there in their points table.

India
Afg
SL
Bangla
Pak

Just to clear the confusion
I feel it could be
SL
Ind
Afg
BAN
PAK

IND team cannot play SL spinners and SL spinners can run through IND team. However, somehow SL couldn't make in 8 in CT2025, SL could have replaced either BAN or PAK to make the championship interesting.

@Rana @topspin 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

khei kon raha hai? Mr rizwan has been treated like an outsider. Yaar i just cant with these people.
I thought you were clever enough to understand I was referring to the anti Rizbar chants.

Well never mind I know there is sadness behind those emojis. @Bhaijaan gave a pretty good explanation about Pakistani fans like you.
