Does anyone have first hand experience or knowledge if the employers in Pakistan provide health insurance of any kind? I doubt the small businesses do at all but what about bigger established companies?

Also, what about gov't owned companies?

If so, how are the plans modeled?

Thanks in advance.

Health Insurance is haram, pretty much every insurance is haram, even car insurance but scholars allow it due to neccisity in some countries.

Simply put it is gambling e.g. I will pay you X amount if you pay me Y amount if xyz happens.

If you were not from the haram brigade you would know that what OP means is that employers in the West provide health insurance to their employees which means if the employee goes to a doctor or buys some meds he doesn't have to pay for it or has to pay a small part of it.

I didn't expect a mullah to know that.

I'm not discussing the issue of haram/halal on insurance. The subject matter is very nuanced and is not black and white as many people think of it to be. One of my teachers who is a graduate of Al-Azhar Shariah Faculty takes a more liberal approach towards the concept of pooling resources as a group to help out individuals.

I'm simply asking does the employer provide any kind of health coverage or reimbursement (loosely called insurance) to their employees in Pakistan?

If you’re a government employee, meaning institutions run by government then you are covered.

This. Reading that comment irked me so much also.

Apart from better govt jobs and MNCs, I have hardly seen anyone listing as health allowances in their job specs sheet.

So the vast majority of people and their families who are not working for MNCs or the gov't have no coverage for health and pay out of pocket?
