The way Pakistan has played over the last 5 years and the recent example is of match against India, it seems like they are playing cricket (which is supposedly a sport, a game) like they are going to be dead if the bowl is gonna hit the stumps or they are any other way they are gonna get out.

Somebody has to tell them its just a game and trophies and matches are there to showcase their talent to fans and to the world. Now they even have PSL along with other leagues so there is financial security atleast for players that are even considered for Pakistan.

Look at the Ahmed Shehzad of 2010 and now, it looks like somebody is holding a shotgun behind his head. Once Ramiz said during commentary that he is like a "spoiled billionaire" as he has so many shots which he can play on a similar delivery that he gets confused which shot to play. Now we dont even see him play even one shot properly at international level. Though we sometime get to see his old flamboyance in domestic competitions.

So someone needs to tell them to man up and come out of this bubble of fear, keep working hard, be professional and enjoy the game.

Like literally I cant understand what they are afraid of anymore? They are already on no 8 in ODI, have been losing almost every ODI series since 2014 so
whats there to worry about, just go on the pitch and play fearlessly (Irrespective or winning or losing) showing there talent to the whole world.

One they are mediocre. Second the are selfish (obvious ones). Third they play with fear for their place in the team.

:(

People are saying that many of the team looked as if they were playing for themselves. They were frightened to do something wrong in case the entire loss was blamed on them.

Some players, yes. For as long as I can remember. The latest case in point being Amir, who decided to call it a day and run with his tail between his legs the moment he knew his figures would be ruined due to the phainti India was giving them.

If national treasure is still afraid of losing his spot, God help him.

Hafeez, Shehzad, etc.? Fear of losing their spot that they have never lost? I doubt it. Just comes down to skill level.

It always baffles me why posters bring up domestic performances of a batsmen to show his ability.

Domestic performances ONLY show CAPABILITY.

This guy can strike bowlers out of ground = Ability or Capability

Why can't they do it in international games ?

Because as the level of bowling increases, bowlers get smarter, fielders get better, there is a very marginal and thin difference between error and successful shot.

Most international bowlers will work around your ability and squeeze and dry you for runs.

That's their job. They are called bowlers. They won't make it easy for you.

We talk about Shehzad. I bet if you send him domestics right now, he will bat at 100 plus SR. Because he has ability to hit when things are easy.

But he won't transform that ability to international level. The bowlers wont let him and he has no escape route to hide his deficiencies.

Use domestic cricket as a gauge. Not a certainty a batsmen will be successful.

I understand your point but that is why I have mentioned Ahmed Shehzad of 2010, he used to play good shots on good deliveries as well. Its hard to believe that talent has suddenly vanished from all of these players.
This is where the eye comes in in domestic matches in today's ODI cricket we need players who can even hit a good ball well.

Some of them, perhaps. However, the biggest problem is that they aren't good enough.

Other than few who are new they all have previously performed for Pakistan at some stage.

Ok lets look at Bangladeshi Team, other than a few players their top order is almost same as 5-7 years ago. Suddenly now we have started to say they have a lot of talent. Same Tamim, Mushfiq, Mahmudullah, Shakib, they never were able to win matches for Bangladesh at that time but now whats changed is the mindset.

I cant believe that our team doesnt have more or atleast same level of batting ability as these Bangladesh players.

Yes that is what I cant understand, they are already at 8 and have lost almost evey ODI series for the last few years. Nobody has ever blammed or done anything to them. Yes we get disappointed but thats all. There is no reason to be afraid.

I know all of you guys must have seen it already but lets have a look again.

He scored a century against South Africa in South Africa in 2013. That cover drive he played to Tsotstobe was on a good ball and a lot of shots were on good balls once his eye got set. He start was still slow like 1 of 12 balls.
After watching this innings you cant say he doesnt have the ability.
May be he was assured of a place in the team at that time and now he isnt, may be he changed after ball hit him. But these things can be controlled.

Under Dav Watmore we had two good ODI series wins in India and in South Africa and If I remember correctly we also won Asia Cup under him.

LOL are you serious? The same gang of TTFs hafeez, wahab, malik, shehzad etc are in the side for last eight ten years.
