Does Glenn Maxwell bat too low down the order to impact an ODI?

We saw what he was capable in the T20 series with his magnificent hitting.

I feel Australia are missing a trick by asking him to bat way down the order in ODI, while he should be up the order building momentum for Australia.

What do you guys think?

Is his defense good enough to employ him regularly in top 3 or 4 and can he change games in ODI's too with that approach?

No.5 is ideal slot for him. He needs to play the role Symonds did from '03-'08 for Aus.

Warner
Stoinis
Smith
SMarsh
Maxwell
Handscomb
MMarsh
Starc
Cummins
Hazlewood
Zampa

This is the ideal team for Aus to play at WC.

He is way too flaky to be even as a no.5 batsman let alone 4 or 3.Hacking works better in T20 compared to one dayers.

Him batting at 7 is a joke in ODIs. He should bat at 5 , should move up when Australia need acceleration.

Yes.

He is the best player in their team, but the management of CA all dislike him for totally unknown reasons.

His performances have been a bit too good and public outrage a bit too strong for them to drop him altogether, but they won't give him good spots if they can avoid it.
