We hear a lot lately from the PSL franchises about it being hard to get advertisers on board because its only 3 weeks or so and then nothing for the rest of the year. So why not bring the same professional structure to the domestic set up. They annual fee that franchises pay to PCB can also get them into the two domestic tournaments (FC, List-A). Keep that side of the player contracts separate from PSL. But have the 6 teams compete for a FC trophy with 15-18 man rosters. Each team already has a built stadium they could use.

FC:
6 Teams - Home/Away matches 10 total each team. Plus playoffs (same as PSL). Spt.-Oct., Jan. Mar-April.

List A:
6 Teams - Same concept with majority of it being played in Sept-Dec (finals in dec.)

Regional Cricket Association level t20 tournament in OCT every year for the PSL franchises to be able to scout new talent for a PSL draft in Nov.

Seems quite logical for me. As league expands, so do FC teams. I think with our population up to 12 teams playing FC is not unreasonable. Also allows PSL franchises to get advertisers on board by having the ad money work for longer. I'm sure ARY/GEO/PTVSports would put the games on TV. even if for little money early on.

Anyway, it's an idea.

The idea has been floated around previously but in practice, it's very unlikely to happen. The primary purpose of the PSL teams is to make money which doesn't really resonate with the domestic cricket system. Besides all the other challenges with the current system...

The most realistic future solution to the poor domestic cricket structure revolves around the regions but it will take years to implement any such ideas.
