President Trump became a bit confused reading remarks about planes sold to Norway, and in the process referenced a fictional jet from Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare when describing a real-world situation.
“In November we started delivering the first F-52s and F-35 fighter jets,” Trump said, as reported by the Washington Post. “We have a total of 52 and they’ve delivered a number of them already a little ahead of schedule.”
The mishap seems to be due to Trump’s inability to parse prepared remarks about the situation. There were 52 planes involved in the transaction, including the somewhat controversial F-35. Somehow those two facts combined in the president’s head in a way that led him to suggest that the F-52 was a real plane and not a fictional weapon of war.
You can watch part of the scene from Call of Duty with the F-52 below. It is unclear if the president believes we could win future conflicts with the judicious use of BFG 9000s.
