Donald Trump says US will "run" Venezuela until new government is formed, after capture of Nicolas Maduro and his wife [Update@ Post#108]]

These videos shed light on Delta Force the elite (I would say most elite in the world) US military unit that executed the Venezuela mission. They also had a major hand in Libya, the Bin Laden operation during Obama's tenure, multiple Central American operations and countless operations we do not know. People just think the US Navy Seals (Seal Team Six especially) or the Green Beret is the most elite unit but the thing is they can be talked about publicly and hence you have so much literature about them. Delta Force is #1 secretive and classified in missions and #2 Delta Force recruits FROM Navy Seals or Green Berets with a 3% recruitment rate. Meaning the best of the Seals and Green Berets compete and try to get into Delta Force. Pretty scary when you think how much power they can project when backed with the most advanced arsenal, technical, and intelligence capabilities after building a team of "best of the best".

FYI Delta Force is not an occupying force, it is an attack force. Saying this lest some clown will come back and say "but US did a poor job occupying Iraq, Afghanistan etc".

People who blindly say "Why aren't China or Russia opposing this" do not realize the power the US military projects for these specific operations. Yeah China is growing and may eventually catch up (or may not if they do not manage growth well). But as it stands today, the US military power projection is unmatched. Who controls this power behind the screens is up for debate/discussion obviously.

I also agree with @HalBass9 points - essentially no country/govt is on any moral high ground. Every country/govt is corrupt and selfish to its own interests, as they should be. No point cribbing about how the US military actions are immoral etc. But it does potentially open up pandora's box for what other countries can do IF the US lets them. Also remember - we have 3 more years of this current US rule armed with the most

Venezuela swears in interim president after defiant Maduro pleads not guilty

Delcy Rodríguez was sworn in as Venezuela's interim president in a parliamentary session that began with demands for the release of ousted leader Nicolás Maduro from US custody.

Rodríguez, 56, vice president since 2018, said she was pained by what she called the "kidnapping" of Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, who were seized by US forces in an overnight raid on Saturday.

In a dramatic scene inside a New York court room two hours earlier, Maduro had insisted he was still president of Venezuela as he pleaded not guilty to four charges of drug trafficking and terrorism.

Meanwhile the US faced sharp criticism at the UN, but the US ambassador responded that the largest energy reserves in the world could not be left in the hands of an illegitimate leader, a "fugitive from justice".

Before the court appearance, the UN Security Council held an emergency session to discuss the situation in Venezuela.

The ambassador for Venezuela, Samuel Moncada, said his country had been the target of an "illegitimate armed attack lacking any legal justification".

The US ambassador to the UN, Mike Waltz, justified the attack by describing Maduro as "an illegitimate so-called president".

Waltz added that the US had carried out a "surgical law enforcement operation" to apprehend Maduro, whom he also referred to as a "fugitive from justice".

Maduro has been accused of narco-terrorism conspiracy, cocaine importation conspiracy, possession of machine guns and destructive devices and conspiracy to possess machine guns and destructive devices.

During Monday afternoon's court appearance, a member of the public began to yell in Spanish at Maduro that he would "pay" for what he had done.

Maduro turned to him and replied that he was a "kidnapped president" and a "prisoner of war" before being escorted out in shackles behind his wife through the back court door.

"I'm a decent man. I am still president of my country," Maduro said earlier during the 30-minute hearing.

Judge Alvin Hellerstein, 92, interjected to tell Maduro that there would be a "time and a place to get into all of this".

Speaking just hours after Saturday's attack - which saw over 150 aircraft and 200 US personnel enter Venezuela - Trump vowed the US would "run" Venezuela until "a safe and proper and judicious transition" was possible.

Later on Monday, following a two-and-a half-hour classified briefing at the US Capitol, US Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said the US plan for running Venezuela was "vague, based on wishful thinking, and was unsatisfying".

"I did not receive any assurances that we would not try to do the same thing in other countries," he said.

"When the United States engages in this kind of regime change and so-called nation building, it always ends up hurting the United States."

US Speaker of the House Mike Johnson denied the US was carrying out regime change, saying it was "a demand for a change of behaviour by a regime".

Describing the operation as "decisive and justified", he said the US had "always maintained the right to use force to defend our national interest, to preserve the safety of the American people and to prevent ongoing threats to its security".

"We have a way of persuasion," Johnson said, "because their oil exports, as you know, have been seized, and I think that will bring the country to a new governance in very short order."

Trump has also promised US oil companies would move into the country to fix infrastructure "and start making money for the country".

But despite the US president's claims, Maduro's allies remain in charge.

In comments made to the US magazine The Atlantic on Sunday once it became clear Rodríguez would be sworn in, Trump warned she could "pay a very big price, probably bigger than Maduro" if she "doesn't do what's right".

During a cabinet meeting, Rodríguez indicated her government would engage in some cooperation with the US, saying: "We invite the US government to collaborate with us on an agenda of co-operation orientated towards shared development within the framework of international law."

Thousands of Venezuelans gathered outside the Federal Legislative Palace to show support for Maduro, his wife and the interim president Rodríguez as she was sworn in.

Speaking after taking her oath, Rodríguez told the National Assembly she did so "with pain" because of the suffering caused by "illegitimate military aggression".

She vowed to guarantee the peace of the country, "the spiritual tranquillity of our people, the economic and social tranquillity of our people".

The assembly also heard from Maduro's son who expressed his support for his parents - saying that they "will return" to Venezuela.

He also offered his "unconditional support" to Rodríguez.

The next court hearing in Maduro's case has been scheduled for 17 March.

It’s unlikely she will be in power for long. The US doesn’t like her much, and Trump is still salty she chose to accept her the Nobel Peace prize instead of letting it go to TACO bhai.

As I wrote on day 1, US gambled she would be fearful and give up the oil, amongst other valuabe assets. However she has mass support, while the world is calling out the Yanks as terrorists. Another raid is needed now but unlikely imo. So far its a huge failure for the Yankees.

To quote : DHS said, adding that the quantity seized was enough to kill more than 113,000 people.

Who needs terrorists when you have cult drug smugglers.

Genuine cocaine rarely kills but its likely to be mixed with other more lethal drugs. Indians have been used as mules for years now esp across the Mexico border.

You are referring to the wrong person. Delcy, the new sworn in president was not the leader of the opposition who won the Nobel prize. She was Maduro’s no 2.

The Trump administration has made a deal with her so that she remains in power until proper elections. The point is to not destabilise the country. I guess the Americans have learned their lessons from Iraq.

They would if they could.
Luckily they know damn well the reach of our nuclear capable missiles which actually work. Ask Pakistan!
:yk

They should use the electric chair on these guys. Tbf the drugs dont come from India, only chewing tobacco is made in India. I think Indians would just hand over Modi for Trump if this would mean USA would be India's no 1 friend.

So, Trump is now threatening to annex Greenland.

Why are Americans so spineless? Why are they not impeaching this madman?

A trash like Trump is unlikely to win in any other western country. :inti

Venezuela declares 7 days of mourning for those killed in US attack...

Congratulations to Venezuelan citizen as they stand against mighty US... we all supports Venezuelan citizens

Trump is now becoming villain and his popularity hitting rock bottom... many countries in Asia, Europe and south america are against US. Will Pakistani leadership change its stand and turn against US.

Pakistan's foreign policy against failed miserably bcos when Trump imposing tarrifs on many countries in luding India, they become US friend.

This is similar to Imran's visit to Russia on the eve of Russia Ukraine war.

Trump has been threatening to annex Greenland and Canada. LOL. He toned it down regarding Canada but is still threatening Greenland.

He is an idiot.

I myself suffered as a crypto investor due to Trump. He caused the 2025 October crypto crash with his irresponsible tweet. Market is yet to recover fully.

The sooner this madman loses power, the better it is for everyone.

Dems had great opportunity until 2 weeks ago to win midterm elections. With the Minnesota Somali fraud issue, Dems have suffered a major blow. Mid terms are coming and it will be a tight race.

Trump taking world economy down and his lust for oil is drastically increased....only handful if countries supporting him including Pakistan

It's reached the point where his tweets are indistinguishable from spoofs.

Even the best of the late night comedy or SNL teams would be challenged to come up with a better spoof if they were asked to make fun of Trump and US foreign policy.

If you showed me this one versus something from the Onion and asked me which was real, I personally wouldn't be able to tell you.

The Western World has positioned itself as champions of freedom and upholders of the international order. Most of the third world/global south and indeed many internal critics feel otherwise. When international rules have been broken they have done it with consensus where Western countries back each other, and where a convenient excuse is found to hold up the image of decency.

For example

Afghanistan - Terrorism/ Women's rights
Iraq - WMD/Saddam killed his own people
Gaza genocide - Khamas
Venezuela - Drugs (lol) and Maduro was an evil dictator.

While the excuses have been getting flimsier and flimsier, they have still been able to provide some cover and the pretence of the international order just about clings on.

But what happens if Trump takes Greenland? Does the US/Europe collective bloc just collapse?

These are scary times and world politics is being reshaped before our eyes.

Nowdays I am not applying much oil on my head as Trump might send its army into my hairs

I hope he takes Greenland so that the pretence is finally over.

Well looks like they've seized it. I'm disgusted by what's going on but unable to look away. It's old fashioned letter of marque piracy from pre-colonial times.

There was little security. Whatever is in the Epstien files is very serious, most likely demonic child abuse with graphics audio, visuals or photos. Its not just Trump, many are compromised. They will nuke the world if ordered too now by Zionism. Thankfully Russia and China have more civilised leaders.

A Greenland takeover would be a real acid test. If that happens and the US faces no concerted European opposition, it tough to predict what next. Attack on Canada within the next 10 years?

It's a risky strategy but the only way to deal with bullies is to call their bluff. If the European countries don't act now, there will never be a chance again. As to what they could do it could range from

- A common statement from all European Countries affirming Denmark's sovereign territory and unequivocally condemning any attempt to annex it (I think there's already something but a bit stronger would be good)
- A more serious announcement of a common defence with Denmark by a bunch of countries affirming protection for each others' territory
- A deadly serious commitment of troop emplacement by a multinational European alliance

Will they though?

There was a press conference yesterday regarding Ukraine, which some of those questions were answered or not.

Europe and USA will always be siamese twins. USA can take the natural resources by simply asking for deal or build bases there without any issue. Imo this is a tactic to scare Europe's population so they protest a little less when the big war with Iran begins.

To extract the oil/gas in the North Pole area is unlikely atm, the technology is not up to date.

Told you russia and China are no match for usa nato in a conventional war setting, they've literally stolen a ship from under the noses of the russians .

Eventhough afghans are enemies you have to hand it to them that with nothing but rags and flip flops at least they put up a better spirited resistance to the usa for 20 yrs.

There's a serious question mark now on russian weaponry and the Chinese knockoffs .

Even in Thailand the tank crews are complaining about chinese tanks .

Since Greenland is barely inhabited and is in the north american continent and stone throw from Canada , usa claiming it the Europeans will fall in line simply ridicolous that the lurpak would have control over a huge strategic landmass in the arctic far away from its actual country.

The Afghans have been fighting invaders for over 2000 years, this is in their DNA.

As for Russia and China, there will not be a conventional war, it will be a nuclear war via missiles. Russia has missiles no tech can stop. You're assuming its going to be Royal Rumble WWE event

No chance of it happening.

I may sound like a conspiracy theorist now but I think Trump will try to stay in power and seek a third term.

Things are getting more and more outlandish by the day.

Only 2 terms allowed under the constitution. I've read the same but cannot see a 3rd term esp for a person who is very old, looks unfit now and possibly suffering from some illness.

I think an invasion of Iran is a practical impossibility.

The war itself won't be a big war. It'll be a tiny war. Iran's military is irrelevant and it has no airforce

It's the afterwar that'll be a problem. There's absolutely no appetite in America for an extended deployment.

Would've dismissed it 5 years ago but after the Capitol riots, it's a real possibility. He has the excuse of non-consecutive terms and owns the Supreme court. He also has the Putin option - run as VP to a puppet.

Age and health could be the major bar like you say.

I agree to some extent. But imo it will be a big war due to the missile power on display. Iran can destroy Tel Aviv in an hour so its either a regime change within the nation(unlikely) or a huge bombing campaign on Iran, like the world has never seen before. Iran has hypersonics, they are game changers. Its like a kid who is being bullied at school, one day brings in a gun, the game changes.

Yanks care little for the after events , in fact they dont want a stable nation, they want chaos. I take that back, not Yanks but their masters in Jerusalem.
