Donald Trump - President of the USA's legal troubles

Yeap, Trump is definitely "saving" Americas money.

Maybe by saying "draining the swamp" what he actually meant was "draining the coffers dry".

What is it with Trump and being completely being against the environment. The guy needs to understand we all live on this Earth. We must take care of it. All he cares about is how to generate more profits. Sad. A prime reason to why a businessman should not be president.

You can't disrespect statues of great Americans. I don't care whether it's Robert E. Lee or Abraham Lincoln.

Robert E Lee tarnished his legacy with joining the Confederacy, and we all know what they stood for. Should be nowhere near any public area. As mentioned in the other thread, I'm fine with moving his statue to a museum.

Trump administration launches bid to lift restrictions on 'Muslim ban'

The Trump administration has asked the Supreme Court to intervene once again on behalf of the President's partially reinstated travel ban.

The Justice Department filed an emergency application to bar a 9th Circuit Court ruling that would allow refugees to enter the country if they have a formal agreement with a refugee resettlement agency. The decision would affect some 24,000 refugees who have been assigned to an agency, but have yet to be resettled in the US.

Mr Trump's travel ban, which the Supreme Court partially reinstated in June, bars residents of six Muslim-majority countries from entering the US unless they have a "bona fide relationship" with a family member in the country.

The San Francisco-based 9th Circuit Court ruled last week to extend the list of family members exempted from the ban. They also ruled to exempt those refugees with an arrangement with a US-based aid group – something the Trump administration took issue with.

In its emergency petition to the Supreme Court, the Justice Department wrote that the decision – set to take effect tomorrow – would "disrupt the status quo and frustrate orderly implementation of the Order’s refugee provisions".

"The Court can and should prevent further uncertainty and disruption by staying the court of appeals’ ruling with respect to refugee assurances," the Justice Department wrote.

The Department is not asking for the decision on family members to be reconsidered at this time.

The debate first started in June, when a Hawaii judge ruled that those who had an agreement with a resettlement agency should be allowed in. The Supreme Court intervened, saying the 9th Circuit Court should decide.

Now, the Trump administration is asking the Supreme Court to intervene again, and block the 9th Circuit Court's decision.

The Supreme Court recently announced that they would rule on the full travel ban on 10 October. Its decision to allow parts of the travel ban to take effect in the meantime was labelled a victory by the Trump administration. The controversial policy had been plagued by lawsuits, and prevented from taking effect, since it was issued in January.

"Today’s ruling allows me to use an important tool for protecting our Nation’s homeland," Mr Trump said at the time. "I am also particularly gratified that the Supreme Court’s decision was 9-0.”

So after years of of RAILING against amnesty for illegal immigrants - Trump now wants amnesty for illegal immigrants.

I'm not criticising him for that u-turn, putting his hypocrisy aside, as the u-turn has merit but his far-right base is now LIVID. Let me drink those Coulter/King/Bannon tears.

Congressman Steve King of Iowa tweeted at the president that, if the reports were true, "Trump base is blown up, destroyed, irreparable, and disillusioned beyond repair. No promise is credible."

One of Mr Trump's most fervent supporters, Ann Coulter, tweeted: "At this point, who DOESN'T want Trump impeached?"

Breitbart, the website run by Mr Trump's former chief strategist Steve Bannon, ran the headline, "Amnesty Don" and accused the president of "a full-fledged cave".

Trump has historically been a right-wing Democrat, who is now representing the Republicans as President and yet he is probably best described as an Independent these days. A combination that is doomed to annoy pretty much everyone in DC!

Trump was always going to let them stay. Contrary to the the left wing nazi caricatures of him, he actually has a heart and is not racist. Though he does care about America and will push for Raise Act and a border wall, if not with Dream Act but later he will.

Trump has bitten off more than he can chew, this time around. The backlash from the sporting community has been massive.

The comedy value of the President of the 'Free World' is turning into a real worry over a race violence at home and wars abroad.

Rich coming from daddy's boy and trust fund baby to talk about others doing things for them.

How thin skinned is this guy ? Mayor of San Juan was right to criticise US Govt's slow response. The electrical grid has been eviscerated and thousands are without food and water. Fewer than 10% of FEMA's workers have been deployed to carry out search-and-rescue missions and to bring basic supplies to the island.

A real leader would express solidarity with their counterparts in Puerto Rico and show some humanity instead of scoring political cheap shots.

Trump drops 'Pocahontas' jibe to Native American veterans

US President Donald Trump has mocked a political rival as Pocahontas - as he welcomed Native Americans to the White House.

Addressing Navajo tribe members, the president dropped in his nickname for Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren.

The former Harvard professor was lampooned in 2012 when it emerged she had claimed Native American ancestry without offering proof of such lineage.

Pocahontas was the daughter of a 17th Century indigenous chief.

President Trump was hosting an event on Monday for Native American code talkers who used their native language to outwit the enemy in wartime.

He said: "You're very, very special people. You were here long before any of us were here.

"Although we have a representative here in Congress who they say was here a long time ago. They call her Pocahontas.

"But you know what? I like you because you are special."

Screw CNN man. Stupid media nerds. All they do is spew FAKE NEWS left and right.

When I was last in the States I had a lazy morning where I needed to kill some time, so I watched 20 minutes of each major news station. They are all radically different to the extent where your entire world view would be altered if you were absolutely loyal to one station only. The most shocking polar opposite was CNN and Fox who seem to report on alternative universes to each other. Totally surreal to watch as a foreign visitor and I understand what Trump is getting at in a way with his “Fake News” tag.

Trump having a dig at Britain's NHS I see on Twitter.

Hey dumb-***, our system isn't without faults but nobody is demanding the American healthcare system where thousands die due to a lack of coverage and millions go bankrupt due to medical bills. We spend LESS as a percentage of GDP on healthcare than the US's private insurance system.

America isn't even a democracy with this kind of a clown in power. The good part is that people will start realizing that the US is just as bad as the countries it looks down upon in terms of actual citizen democracy.

The global stock market mini-crash at the moment is pretty amusing, it will recover but it has pretty much been caused by The Donald’s incessant trumpeted claims at the State of the Union that the Dow Jones is scaling new heights purely because of his leadership; now there is a mass sell-off seemingly because no one wants to be associated with his reverse Midas touch lol. Not seen many Potus-Tweets about this one yet.

I partially agree with you.
IMO the main reason for the sell off was the new tax reform that Trump put into place.
America is riddled with debt and these tax cuts on big corporations and high earners means less income to the treasury. Also being inflationary, the last thing that corporations need are higher interest rates.

It’s a perfect storm at the moment and Trump will be hiding out in his bunker in Florida hoping that it’s just a blip...

Oh and some people here on PP were annoyed at the fascination of what’s going on in the States, well being the biggest economy in the world, look at the effects on stock markets outside of the states.

Sorry but everyone should have an eye on Trump, whether they live in Europe or Asia..
