i have been living in the west for 8 years now and i have noticed that a lot of pakistanis here are very particular about consuming halal meat and shopping from halal groceries.

some even don't have fish in restaurants because of the possibility that pork and non halal meat may have been cooked in the same oil and utensils.

but these same people don't have a problem with paying taxes to western governments who use their tax money to fund attacks against muslims. imo that is a bigger haram than eating non halal chicken or beef.

so how do you reconcile this hypocrisy? there are a lot of overseas pakistanis so obviously they have to deal with this dilemma.

my family prefers halal of course but if it is not available we don't have a problem with eating non halal meat. obviously we totally abstain from pork.

You are conflating two very different issues. One is a personal choice (halal food) whereas the other is a contract between the citizen and the state.

Also, is every "western" country attacking Muslim countries? What of those Muslims living in Saudi Arabia, UAE, etc. who are attacking Yemen, Libya, Qatar, etc?

Your questions should be expanded without restrictions. ie. How can each one of us living in whichever country influence our gov'ts to have less aggressive foreign policies?

Biggest crime would be to be in the country which is funding attacks against the Muslims. So why not quit living in the West and head back to the where you came from? That's the best way of isolating the West.

To expand on the op people in pakistan should not pay taxes because pakistan is a nato ally and has allowed drones to kill its own muslims.

The most useless juxtaposition ever. What on earth. If your family has no problem eating haram then that your prerogative but don't try justifying it.

Taxes pay for things like the NHS, welfare, education and pensions too. Why focus on the negative?

However, the MP scandals and dodgy Tory MPs are good marketing for tax avoidance and I believe people should be more aware on how to avoid paying tax whenever the Tories come into power. I think people should make use of schemes like Payroll Giving and Gift Aid to benefit charities ahead of government.

I'd rather pay to a charity that funds NHS, Welfare and Education programs than letting the government abuse my money.

Even if one doesn't pay taxes, he or she certainly contributes to the strength of the country they live in by simply working. Even though the person may get paid, usually the country as a whole benefits by work. Carrying the OP's logic further, one should not work if they live in Western countries.

just a small FYI...no restaurant that has passed the health inspection in the US (i.e is open and running) will cook fish/seafood with another protein or in the same oil/pan/grill as the other protein. This is a fact...no idea where Desi people come up with their theories. Also, most places get inspected once a week if not once in 2 weeks. Unless you're eating out of a stand or some other hole in the wall which the city doesn't know about.

Yea that doesn't really make a lot of sense. Many Muslim countries are known to fund attacks against other Muslim countries.

Also, western countries like Canada have played a significant part in the resettlement of Syrian refugees and they also provide subsidy to local mosques and Muslim community centres. These are also paid for by our tax dollars.

While the issues are different I always find it hilarious when I see Muslims in Britain or USA hating on US and NATO for their excursions in the middle east eventhough these same Muslims are among the the ones funding it

We have to pay taxes. It's not hypocrisy but being in a tough situation. Our taxes also contribute to other more positive things.

It's very easy, don't come to a non-Muslim country. Bye, hope you had a nice time.

Even then, how can you guarantee that all of the taxes paid are going towards the betterment of muslim people?

You vote for the political party which matches your values, whether it's for the betterment of Muslim people or whatever else you believe in.

Am pretty sure you said you were a hindu from India :))

Muslims in the West want all the rights in the world to do as they please but when Muslims are in the majority they subjugate all minorities so much so that in Ramzaan if a non-Muslim is seen having food he will be beaten up and sent to jail.

Hypocrisy much?

You don't have a choice in paying taxes, don't like the country's policies then you are most welcome to go to a country whose policies you agree with and is willing to take you.

Difficult to say since I don't know of any who live in both places. If you live in the west like me, personally I just want the same rights as everyone else who is a citizen of the country. I can't speak on behalf of Muslim majority countries, you are from one I believe, so if you had this mentality then shame on you for subjugating minorities. I'm not sure if it was hypocrisy but still reprehensible behaviour nonetheless.

Simple, move to a Muslim majority country: it's a win-win. You can eat all the halal meat you like, and reconcile with the fact that it's just Muslims killing each other (which is a lesser crime than non-Muslims killing Muslims for reasons best known to you).

OP compared two different issues.
Overall I see this post as a "Justification to eating haraam food". Isn't that true?

It is a shame that even Muslims are happily interchanging the words "Muslims and "Terrorists". Western countries are not attacking Muslims; they are trying to kill terrorists who happen to be living in Muslim countries ad who themselves are far from Muslim.

What is this about?

OP tried to justify eating non-halal meat AND justify tax evasion in one brilliant stroke.

Clever :misbah

it is not a justification but an attempt to indulge the people who are very judgemental when it comes to others not being very strict with halal meat

for me that is very ironic when these same people are FUNDING THE KILLINGS OF MUSLIMS

but the excuse is that we have no choice but to pay taxes and etc etc so that is forgiven but the conclusion is that "kahin na kahin har kisi ki khoti phasti hai" :)

I'm a born Brit. Eat haram, drink alcohol, might as well. I mean, we can't be Muslims here, right ??
