English Football League newcomers Harrogate Town will travel to Premier League side West Brom in the second round of the Carabao Cup.

Harrogate, who beat League Two rivals Tranmere on penalties in round one, will host Southampton or Brentford in round three if they shock West Brom.

Burnley host Sheffield United in an all-Premier League second-round tie.

Last season's runners-up Aston Villa, who lost 2-1 to Manchester City in the final, will travel to Burton.

Everton play Salford City at Goodison Park, while Premier League newcomers Leeds United face Hull City.

Bournemouth, relegated to the Championship last season, face Crystal Palace at the Vitality Stadium.

The second round ties will be played week commencing 14 September.

Manchester City, winners in the past three seasons, will be at home to either Bournemouth or Crystal Palace, while Premier League champions Liverpool will travel to the winner of the second-round tie between League Two Bradford and League One Lincoln.

Leyton Orient have confirmed that "a number" of first-team players have tested positive for coronavirus.

The O's are due to host Premier League Tottenham in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday and are in discussions with Public Health England about whether any further action needs to be taken.

The club said in a statement that the tests were carried out after Saturday's 2-2 draw with Mansfield in League Two.

Their most recent opponents - Plymouth, Mansfield and Oldham - have been told.

"Leyton Orient's priority is the health and wellbeing of its players and staff. Those who have tested positive will now strictly follow government self-isolation guidelines," the O's said.

"The Breyer Group Stadium and training ground facilities will be closed until further notice."

It is understood that if Orient are unable to field a team, the game will be awarded to Spurs as there is not enough room in the schedule to rearrange the tie.

Tottenham have a more congested schedule than most because of their Europa League commitments, with their next game in that competition in Macedonia against Shkendija on Thursday.

Orient's tie with Jose Mourinho's men would have seen them potentially come up against striker Harry Kane, who paid to promote charities on the front of their shirts in May. The England captain made his professional debut during a loan spell with the O's when he was 17.

The English Football League say they are "awaiting the outcome" of Orient's discussions with Public Health England.

Plymouth, who were beaten by Orient in the previous round of the EFL Cup, and Mansfield say they will test their players and football staff as a result, adding that none of them currently have symptoms.

Tottenham's Carabao Cup round three game at Leyton Orient has been called off due to positive coronavirus tests at the League Two club.

West Ham United manager David Moyes and two of the club's players have tested positive for coronavirus.

The club were informed of the positive tests while preparing for Tuesday's home Carabao Cup tie against Hull City - which the Hammers won 5-1.

Tottenham's Carabao Cup round three game at Leyton Orient has been called off due to positive coronavirus tests at the League Two club.

Leyton Orient's chairman says they "can't be punished" after Tuesday's Carabao Cup tie against Tottenham was called off because a number of O's players have coronavirus.

Several of the squad tested positive after Saturday's draw with Mansfield.

This season, English Football League clubs do not have to do mandatory coronavirus tests on players and staff.

"If I was doing this again I would not do the testing," Orient chairman Mark Travis told BBC Radio 5 Live.

"This is an incentive not to test and that is bad for football and bad for health and safety."

League Two side Orient have been doing medical questionnaires every morning and said they would pay for testing to be done before Tuesday's cup tie, but Premier League opponents Spurs offered to cover the cost.

"That's why we can't be punished over this," Travis added. "People should be incentivised to take the test, especially when Premier League clubs with their resources give us the opportunity to have all our players tested."

Discussions are ongoing over the implications of not holding the third-round match on Tuesday, with a further update to be provided in due course.

Tottenham are in action in the Europa League on Thursday.

The decision to call off the match was announced two hours before the scheduled 18:00 BST kick-off at the Breyer Group Stadium.

Orient shut down their east London home and training ground after receiving the positive results following their league match against the Stags at the weekend, and held discussions with Public Health England about whether any further action needed to be taken.

Plans for fans to return to sports in October called offDelayed return of fans could have 'devastating impact'

This season, English Football League (EFL) clubs do not have to carry out mandatory coronavirus testing of their players and staff.

"Leyton Orient, the EFL and the relevant authorities are conducting a thorough review of the club's Covid-19 secure procedures with the view to reopening the stadium and training ground as soon as possible," a statement said.

There is little room to rearrange the tie, with the fourth round of the EFL Cup scheduled to take place next week.

Last week's draw handed Orient or Spurs a home tie against Chelsea or Barnsley.

Tottenham face Shkendija in the third qualifying round of the Europa League in North Macedonia on Thursday and, if they progress, the north London club will have a play-off match to qualify for the group stage seven days later.

Tuesday's match was set to be the first competitive meeting between Orient and Tottenham since January 2001.

Spurs had previously announced they would donate their match shirts to the foundation set up in memory of their former player Justin Edinburgh.

Edinburgh was manager at Orient when he died at the age of 49 after suffering a cardiac arrest in June 2019.

So finishes 0-3 to Man City.

Sterling doing the damage with 2 goals and an assist for the other goal. Still to blast off in the league but I'm expecting big things from him this season.

David Baldwin is to stand down as the EFL’s chief executive, having only taken up the role in June.

A statement from the league confirmed the former Burnley chief executive would leave in six months’ time. The league said the decision was totally unrelated to Project Big Picture, the plans for reforming the English football pyramid which involve EFL chairman Rick Parry.

David Baldwin said: “Having thoroughly reflected on my own personal circumstances at length in recent weeks, I have now determined it is only appropriate to inform the board and the membership of the EFL of my intentions at the earliest opportunity.

“Clearly, accepting this position pre-Covid-19 means the situation is now very different to the one I originally envisaged coupled with it being a very different environment inside the EFL, when compared to the one I left in 2015-16.

“Taking those two factors into consideration and balancing the needs of my family, health and wellbeing, I feel the decision to leave is the right one.”

Baldwin added: “Between now and my departure date there is still plenty of work to be undertaken on behalf of EFL clubs and I remain committed to finding solutions to the many challenges we currently face.”

Parry added: “Whilst disappointed, I understand the reasons Dave has outlined and respect his wishes. He remains committed to the EFL and will continue to lead the executive until he leaves us in 2021.”

Yet again Manchester derby in the semis. Tbh this seems like Jose's cup to lose, Brentford are going to play right into their hands

Tottenham beat Brentford 2-0 yesterday to book their place in the Carabao Cup Final.

Son and Moussa Sissoko got the goals.

The Manchester derby is underway and the winner will play Spurs at Wembley.

City in the groove.

2 0 win over Man Utd and they face Spurs in the final.

Gutted Brentford couldn't make it to the final. I am not sure what is more painful. Pakistan cricket team failing in comps, or Brentford failing.

EPL beckons next season boys!

Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City will both have 2,000 fans at Wembley for the Carabao Cup final on 25 April.

But fans under 18 cannot attend, and people who are clinically extremely vulnerable or pregnant have also been told not to apply for tickets.

To get into Wembley, fans must take a lateral flow coronavirus test at a designated site - not at home - in the 24 hours before the game.

And they must bring proof of a negative result, either a text or an email.

Fans who get a ticket must sign a consent form, as the match is part of the government's events research programme, which is assessing how major events can reopen safely to the public as coronavirus restrictions ease.

In addition, fans are being asked if they will take two PCR tests, which are designed to show if someone showing coronavirus symptoms currently has the virus. Both tests should be taken at home, the first before the match, and the second five days afterwards. Fans who get tickets for the final will be told how to apply for the PCR tests, which will be free.

There will be 8,000 fans in total at Wembley - the most at an outdoor sporting event in the UK since the coronavirus pandemic began - with the remaining allocation split between groups including Brent residents and NHS staff.
