The title says it all. Can anyone inform us what positive thing/s so far Mani did for Pakistan Cricket since he was appointed as PCB chairman?

When it comes to public policy and in this case, administrative policy, you look at the results in order to critique the effectiveness, and not the intermediary steps taken or things that have been said.

Come back to this thread in a year and the results will show.

LAHORE: Former chief operating officer of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Shafqat Naghmi is likely to rejoin the cricket board in capacity of Chief Strategy Implementation Officer which is a new post that has been created.

Naghmi is a former bureaucrat and served as COO in the PCB during Dr Nasim Ashraf’s tenure from 2006-08. But when former Test player Ijaz Butt was appointed as PCB chairman in 2008-09, Naghmi resigned from the Board to rejoin the federal government as secretary.

Naghmi, an all powerful COO during his tenure, came under spotlight when he removed the name of off-spinner Saeed Ajmal from the Pakistan squad selected by then chief selector Salahuddin Sallu for a four-nation-nation tournament which was held in Canada in 2008. Naghmi was accused of favouritism when he allegedly used his influence to get little-known opener Shoaib Khan from Quetta included in the team in place of Ajmal.

Meanwhile, the post of Chief Strategy Implementation Officer has reportedly been created to handle the matters concerning the government departments, especially the matter of lease documents for keeping the Board’s control over eight stadia across the country and of getting tax exemption from the government on PCB’s income.

It may be mentioned here that according to a PCB document, it enjoyed control over the eight stadia across the country and was spending Rs 227.6 million on their maintenance annually. However, the lease documents of most of these stadia have not been signed as yet. Among them are Gadaffi Stadium (expenditure Rs 104.2 million), National Stadium, Karachi (Rs 54.1 million), Multan Cricket Stadium (Rs 20.1 million), Pindi Stadium (Rs 13.6million), Abbottabad Stadium (Rs 10.1 million), Bugti Stadium, Quetta (Rs 15.7 mln), Mirpur Stadium (Rs 6.3million), and Garhi Khuda Buksh Stadium (Rs 3.5million).

Naghmi was accused of corruption during Dr Nasim Ashrafs tenure where he took an exorbitant salary with respect to his position back then.

He even secretly allegedly siphoned of files from the pcb before leaving

ISLAMABAD - The Board of Governors (BOG) of the Pakistan Cricket Board are annoyed at PCB for displaying he expenditures of governors on the website for public scrutiny.

It also has expressed resentment over Pakistan Cricket Board’s decision to release the details of former Chairman Najam Sethi’s expenditures on the PCBwebsite, Tribune has reported.

A few days ago, the BOG pointed out that people will point fingers at them as well since they were the ones who approved Sethi’s Pakistan Super League (PSL) allowance.

According to the available sources, they also criticized PCB for sending a harsh answer to the former chairman’s legal notice. According to them, doing so will give rise to a new debate.

Moreover, the BOGs expressed displeasure over sharing their own expenditure details on the PCB website as well. Notably, the same meeting gave a go-ahead on the proposed changes relating to domestic cricket.

rather comical this - the BoG not happy with their expenses being scrutinized by the public - I am looking for a suitable smiley here but nothing can express my disgust at this.

Sethi did some blunders like suing BCCI but except that he did great service to Pakistan cricket.
It's too early to judge Mani, Let's see what he does in a year or so.

Hopeless so far, same Inzi and Sarfraz, ruining Pakistan cricket and Chairman is OK with that.

Ehsan Mani till now is one of the major disappointment of PM Imran Khan's govt.

Never expected Ehsan Mani to transform a broken system in a short period of time but his appointment was made on mandate to 'clean' the system. Remove corruption, political connections or atleast show of moving towards that direction.

More of the same continues Imams and Arsal Sheikhs continue to take positions of a deserving youngster.
Politically backed cricketers are continuing to destroy merit and viewership .

Mani has had go slow policy administratively which has hurt the domestic setup. He has indicated he can't run the board and needs an MD but the position lays vacant for another 2 months. Once the MD comes in he would need anpother 2-3 months to adjust a really lethargic and loose approach by the chairman which will cost Pakistan.

On top of this his meek response to ICC after the failing in the case. He has remained shamelessly silent on mostly everything. Selection committee under corrupt chief selector looks completely out of hands to shape and destroy the national team.

The immediate concern is the renovation of local cricket stadiums before PSL 2019. Natl. Stadium renovtion still not complete. They just needed to install a new roof its also going slow and the PSL is just 1-1.5 months away.

PM Imran Khan should've picked a younger non-political chairman with administrative background for the PCB job.

Please request media and MPAs to review this guy Ehsan Mani, he has been a calamity for Pakistan cricket.

We have hardly won anything since this guy came, he is getting extended honeymoon due to Imran Khan.
Everything was ok not better under Najam Sethi but still going well, Mr. Ehsan Mani entry in August 2018 led to Asia Cup disaster and then losing the home series against New Zealand. He instead of giving confidence to Captain (Sarfaraz) started to squeeze him and the coach, delegating powers of the national
team to monster like Inzamam who used it to pick his favorites and nephew devastating merit based young players.

Once he was able to remove Sarfaraz and Arthur installed the worst person in Pakistan cricket, Misbah as chief selector and coach who has been sucking life out of the Pakistan team even since with help from another disaster coach Waqar Younis.

Destroyed the livelihood of Pakistani domestic first class players who used to earn with some self-respect now have to drive Ubers and do odd jobs, selling stuff at home to make ends meet.

He must be feeling the heat for appointing Misbah. Karma for Mani for depriving cricketers of their livelihood and leaving them jobless.

InshAllah you will be jobless soon as well

Nothing will happen. Both Media and formers' have lots of respect for this guy and IK proved himself as a failure as off-field performances just like Miandad due to his lack of administrative knowledge and bluffed by con man Wasim Khan.

Imran found a mummy in England and made him the chairman.

The mummy found a con-artist in England and made him the CEO.

Absolute shambles.

What a great way to describe those 2 clowns!!!! Bro you have good sense of humor.

The comments on this thread are pretty stupid. Everyone hating on Mani because he has ‘ruined the board’.... can you be more specific??

I will go on record as saying no previous PCB chairman even came close to his professionalism. He has not been a media obsessive, making statements every other day, leaks from the PCB have stopped (they were always leaking on each other!!), financially in a better situation than ever, a professional CEO running the show, a new first class structure, excellent negotiations with Bangladesh Cricket Board which made them look like children and Mani, Wasim K looking like adults. All the other changes Wasim K. Has brought in should also be acknowledged and credited partially to Mani.

Really guys... do YOU even know what you are complaining about??

Man, most of the posters on here are like children who throw tantrums. Mani and Wasim Khan have actually brought some semblance of governance to an organisation in the PCB that was stuck in the 70s.

They're also getting rid of some of the deadwood, e.g Haroon Rasheed. So there are signs of progress.

People here singing Najam Sethi's praises forget how under his regime there were zero improvements in Domestic cricket, where for years batting techniques went to pieces and medium pacers all looked like the second coming of Richard Hadlee, because of shameful pitches.

But no!! Pakistan are not winning regularly, and thus by association, the board, which has been in place over such a short period of time, are culpable!?!

Brother shah_1 makes legitimate points on Misbah's appointment. How he truly does remains to be seen, and is a true gamble. However, if it works, then Pakistan have a successful internally developed coach, which may encourage other Pakistani coaches to get opportunities in the future.

Also shah_1 has a point on livelihoods of domestic players. I'm hopeful that the PCB cricket committee will atleast reintroduce a tournament for departments in this next year, which will help cover some of the shortfall for the domestic cricketers.

You need atleast 3-4 years to judge any administration. I hope this administration succeeds, as only Pakistan cricket will benefit from it.

I absolutely agree with you both. People dont realize how professionalism, credibility and etc was not in the PCB, but the hiring of Ehsan mani and Wasim khan in there respected fields have brought those things. Before Ehsani mani took over as chairman, PCB was the only cricket board that had a chairman making all decisions related to cricket. But now the presence of Wasim khan made the PCB more professional and brought credibility. The recent example of professional negotiation skills have made a series that was not going to happen at first to a series that is happening in three different phases. They have made a new constitution and brought a new first class structure. They had it running in a couple of months. It is one thing to say it and another thing to implement in. I still remember and loved what Wasim khan said that "working here should not be an entitlement, but a privilege". This is so true when running a business. If you have employees that work like they are passionate then the organization blossoms and there comes many successful rewards too.
People just got to give time. I'm calling it now that Ehsan mani and Wasim khan are going to get good commercial deals for PCB and new kit sponsors and PCB are going to so much revenue from it. That is Ehsan mani's specialty in getting deals. When he was in ICC as a chairman, he got ICC a deal that was way more that the yrs before. And Wasim Khan will bring so many good reforms like 6 HPC's, 6 CA that will be self sustainable, School cricket and the reforms for NCA will be exciting and inshaallah amazing/successful.
May Allah SWT guide wasim khan and ehsan mani and PCB to the right path and may Allah SWT make the decisions they already made and will make in the future a success. Inshaallah PCB will be the greatest cricket board and Ehsan Mani and Wasim Khan will be the greatest Chairman and CEO.

PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani has denied rumours about his resignation in the media:

Responding to a question related to former Test wicketkeeper Rashid Latif's tweet about his resignation’s submission with the prime minister, Mani replied: “The news is made up by Rashid Latif.”

As per PCB :

“Mani is in the UAE to attend the ICC meeting. He is chairing the Pakistan delegation then how could he resign? These are all rumours"

Media reports also indicate that PCB has approached Latif about spreading of such rumours but he has reportedly said that “I stand by my story that Ehsan Mani has resigned"

However, independent sources are standing by Latif's version saying that Imran Khan wanted Mani to continue working as the PCB chairman till the completion of his tenure or a few extra months to complete the pressing commitments in and around the T20 World Cup

Can't IK find any decent person for this job. Why can't he gives WK a free hand? Latif is one of the worst person for these types of jobs. This guy has lack of understanding about International cricket. At best Latif is good for village cricket where he can pick and chose whom he likes.

Rashid Latif is one of the bigger clowns in the clown association of pakistani cricket.

According to media reports, the PCB chairman met the PM and when asked to share the details of the meeting, he said: ‘I am sorry I cannot comment on private matters"

“Unless and until we hear something from one of the participants no one could say anything. Nothing has come out so far so at this point of time I cannot say what was discussed"
