Woman Gangraped At Dhaba 100 Meters From Metro; 4 Arrested

A 42-year-old woman was allegedly gangraped at a deserted dhaba in Haryana's Bahadurgarh, just 100 meters from a metro station on Delhi Metro's Green Line. Four of the five accused have been arrested.

A 42-year-old woman was allegedly gangraped by a gang of four men at a roadside dhaba, just 100 meters from a metro station in Bahadurgarh on Monday.
As per the woman's complaint, she had just arrived in town from Uttar Pradesh, along with her uncle. They had got off at the Pandit Shree Ram Sharma metro station on Delhi Metro's Green Line around 2 am on January 12.

Her cousin had come to pick them up and that is when they noticed the five men following them.

"By around 2.30 am, the men separated the woman from her uncle and cousin, intimidated them and took her to a deserted dhaba on Delhi-Rohtak Road, where they sexually assaulted her," a senior police officer was quoted as saying by a TOI report.

The woman had initially not reported the entire matter to the police, officials said, noting only that the accused had stolen some belongings.
However, when the police examined the CCTV footage from the dhaba area, the entire nature and extent of the crime was revealed.
"She then agreed to give a detailed statement, and her uncle subsequently filed a complaint," Jhajjar police commissioner Rajshree Singh said.
Further investigations revealed that shortly before the assault, the accused had purchased liquor from a nearby shop, leaving behind a digital trail. They paid Rs 100 in cash while transferring the remaining Rs 30 digitally through UPI, police said.
"Tracing the Paytm account allowed us to identify the suspects and reconstruct the sequence of events," a police officer involved in the probe said.
CCTV footage, digital payment records, call detail records, social media analysis, and inputs from local intelligence were then reviewed to narrow down the accused.
Within eight hours of the crime, four of the five men were arrested. All four are residents of Bahadurgarh, originally from Bihar, and living in rented accommodation in the Chhotu Ramnagar area.
The arrested men were produced before a Bahadurgarh court on Wednesday and remanded in police custody for two days.
"Efforts are on to identify and apprehend the fifth accused," an officer said.

Class 12 Rajasthan girl abducted, gang-raped in moving vehicle; hunt on for two accused

The incident occurred on January 6 in the Napasar area, but a case was registered only on January 11 following a complaint by the survivor’s family, police said.

A class 12 student was allegedly abducted and gang-raped by two men inside a moving car in Rajasthan’s Bikaner district, police said on Monday, adding that the suspects are on the run and efforts are being made to nab them.

The incident occurred on January 6 in the Napasar area, but a case was registered only on January 11 following a complaint by the survivor’s family, police said.

According to the complaint, the 19-year-old student had left for school on the morning of January 6. Two accused intercepted her and abducted in a car and drove away. They allegedly drove around for several hours, threatening and raping the girl taking turns inside the moving vehicle, Gangashahar circle officer Himanshu Sharma said, quoting from the complaint.

Later, when the car entered a neighbouring village, local residents grew suspicious and stopped the vehicle. After forcing the girl out of the car, the accused fled the spot, Sharma, who is investigating the matter, said.

Villagers informed the girl’s family, who reached the spot and took her home, the officer said.

One of the accused has been identified as Hansarj Saraswa while the identity of the other accused remains unknown. Both are absconding.

“The victim has also alleged the involvement of some other locals in the complaint and we are investigating the matter from every aspect,” Sharma said.

Based on the complaint, a first information report (FIR) has been registered under sections 70(1) (gang rape), 140(3) (abduction) and 351 (3) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Napasar police station. “A medical examination of the victim was conducted on Sunday and the investigation will proceed further once the medical report is received. As of now, no arrests have been made,” Sharma said.

The girl said she played hockey and alleged that about four months ago, a junior coach whom she had known for three years raped her in a bathroom of the stadium where she trained.

Rewari:
A junior hockey coach has been arrested in Haryana's Rewari for allegedly raping and impregnating a minor girl, police said. The victim, a Class 12 student from a village in the district, lodged a rape complaint at the Khol police station on Friday.

According to the complaint, the girl, who played hockey, alleged that around four months ago the coach, whom she had known for nearly three years, raped her in a bathroom at the stadium where she trained.

Survivor was pregnant

The survivor said she later became pregnant and suffered a miscarriage on January 5. Her family rushed her to a hospital after her health condition worsened.

Police in Rewari said an FIR was registered under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and other relevant provisions of law on Friday. "We have arrested the accused junior coach. After producing him in a city court we have taken him on two days of police remand and are questioning him," Rewari police spokesperson said on Saturday.

NRAI suspends national coach over sexual harassment

Earlier on January 8, the National Rifles Association of India (NRAI) suspended national coach Ankush Bharadwaj after being accused by a minor shooter. NRAI has confirmed the development, even as an FIR has also been filed against Bharadwaj in Faridabad.

NRAI Secretary Rajiv Bhatia told PTI that the coach has been issued a show-cause notice and won't be associated with any coaching activity unless he proves himself innocent. "NRAI has suspended him, and we will issue a show-cause notice. He has been suspended on moral grounds. Now, he has to prove himself innocent. Till the inquiry is not completed, he will not be associated with any coaching activity," he said.

Bhatia also stated that Bharadwaj had been recommended by NRAI to be part of the 37-man coaching staff for the Paris Olympics in 2024 and was part of the contingent as well. "It was on the recommendation of the NRAI that he was appointed by SAI as one of the coaches. It is a case of sexual harassment that happened in Surajkund," Bhatia added.

NEET aspirant's death sparks chaos in Patna as family alleges rape and murder, blocks Kargil Chowk

A NEET aspirant's death in Patna has triggered massive protests after her family alleged rape and murder, accusing authorities of suppressing the truth. The police maintain that early tests suggest suicide and no confirmation of sexual assault has emerged yet.

Patna:
A NEET aspirant's death under suspicious circumstances in Bihar's capital Patna created widespread panic on Monday. The student, originally from Jehanabad and staying at a hostel in Patna's Munna Chowk, was found with severe injuries on her body and head. Soon after the news surfaced, the family arrived at Kargil Chowk with the body and raised slogans against the police alleging foul play. Their protest brought traffic to a standstill well into the night, forcing the police to intervene as tensions escalated. A scuffle broke out between the crowd and the police, although authorities eventually managed to take control and shift the body from the spot.

Family alleges rape and murder

The grieving family has accused the hostel owner, police and doctors of working together to suppress a case of rape and murder. They claimed clear injury marks prove the girl was assaulted and killed. However, the police and medical staff have stated that the preliminary findings suggest illness and a possible drug overdose. This contrasting narrative has intensified the controversy and added to public anger.

No confirmation of sexual assault yet: Police

According to the police, the investigation so far has not confirmed sexual assault. They stated that the girl's urine test has indicated the presence of sleeping pills. Amid rising outrage, the family demanded video recording of the postmortem at PMCH, a request that was accepted after discussions. A medical board was formed to oversee the postmortem process following which the family agreed to lift the blockade from Kargil Chowk.

Police await final report, term case as suicide

Sadar ASP Abhinav Kumar informed that a medical board supervised the entire postmortem procedure, which was fully video recorded. The police have said that evidence currently points towards suicide, but they will wait for the final postmortem report before making any further conclusion. Officials also used mild force to disperse the protesters and clear the area.

6-Year-Old Girl Allegedly Gang-Raped By 3 Minors In Delhi

"The mother of one of the accused handed her son over to the police herself after seeing my daughter's condition. I want strict punishment for all those responsible," the girl's mother said

New Delhi:
A six-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by three boys, all under the age of 15, in northeast Delhi's Bhajanpura, the police said. The three accused - 13, 14 and 15 years old - have been detained, the police said. They said the girl's family reported the matter on January 18, and the police swung into action immediately. All the accused live in the same locality.

"The mother of one of the accused handed her son over to the police herself after seeing my daughter's condition. I want strict punishment for all those responsible," she said.

Residents of Bhajanpura alleged a slow probe in the case. They have been holding street protests in the area for the last four days.

The three minor accused work in a factory, senior police officer Ashish Mishra said. They face charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the police said.

"The juveniles have been detained and produced before the Juvenile Justice Board," another police officer said. They are checking CCTV footage of the area.

The six-year-old girl was sent for a medical test. Later, her statement was recorded and she was given counselling and care, the police said. The girl's mother told reporters her daughter returned home in a distressed condition.

"She came home covered in blood. When I asked her, she first said she had fallen, but there were no injuries on any other part of her body. On questioning further, she told me what had been done to her," the woman said.

She immediately took her daughter to the police station, from where they were sent to a hospital for a medical examination. She alleged the three boys took her daughter to the terrace of a building to commit the crime.

As court documents tied to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein continue to surface, the scandal has become an international embarrassment, exposing how quickly powerful men can turn into reputational liabilities. That discomfort reached New Delhi, where Microsoft cofounder Bill Gates was expected to deliver the keynote address at the AI Impact Summit but ultimately did not attend amid criticism and apparent unease within the Modi government over his past meetings with Epstein. The spectacle was revealing. Public moral outrage travels swiftly when scandal threatens reputations and diplomatic optics. Yet that sensitivity to association sits uneasily beside a domestic reality in which sexual violence against women unfolds with brutal regularity, drawing neither comparable embarrassment nor consequence. The contrast is grotesque. A political culture capable of signalling discomfort towards a global scandal remains strikingly untroubled by the everyday brutality faced by women at home.

Under the Modi administration, the news cycle churns with reports of gang rapes like factory output — steady, relentless, and numbing in repetition. The rapes have become so common that they are reported like the weather. Heatwave deaths. Flash flood. Five-year-old abducted, raped, murdered. And like the weather, only God is responsible. Not the rapist. Not the court. Not the police. Definitely not the prime minister.

Indians do not believe in self-accountability. They always do whataboutery whenever you pinpoint a problem.

This is why India do not maximize their potential I guess. :inti

Don't Disclose Rape Survivor's Identity In Documents: Delhi Court To Police

Don't Disclose Rape Survivor's Identity In Documents: Delhi Court To Police

The court "noted with concern" that the survivor's name was mentioned in the status report filed by the investigating officer in the present case.

The court passed the direction while rejecting the bail plea of an accused in a POCSO case.
New Delhi:
Name, parentage or address of a survivor of sexual assault should not be disclosed in any document or report filed in courts, the Delhi High Court has directed the city police.

Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma called upon the commissioner of Delhi Police to give appropriate instructions to all SHOs and investigating officers to strictly comply with law against the disclosure of identity of survivors of sexual offences.

The court passed the direction while rejecting the bail plea of an accused in a POCSO case. It "noted with concern" that the name of the prosecutrix was mentioned in the status report filed by the investigating officer in the present case.

"The DCP of the concerned area (having jurisdiction over Moti Nagar police station) is directed to sensitise all SHOs under his jurisdiction to strictly ensure that the name, parentage or address of a victim of sexual assault is not disclosed in any status report or document filed before the courts," ordered the court on January 14.

"The commissioner of police, Delhi is also requested to reiterate appropriate instructions to all SHOs and investigating officers in this regard, in strict compliance with law. Let a copy of this judgment be forwarded to the DCP concerned as well as the commissioner of police, Delhi for information and compliance," it further directed.

In the present case, the accused allegedly sexually assaulted a minor girl, who was 12-13 years of age, by taking her away from her home on a false pretext in 2021. It was alleged that he confined her in a room and forcefully established physical relations with her and she was subsequently traced and rescued by her family members.

The accused contended that he was in a consensual physical relationship with the mother of the prosecutrix and had been falsely implicated because the prosecutrix resented their relation.

It was also claimed that in 2021, movement of people was restricted and social interaction was minimal due to COVID-19, and therefore, the likelihood of the alleged offence having been committed in the manner projected by the prosecution was doubtful.

The court said the mere fact that the alleged incident occurred during the pandemic could not by itself be a ground to disbelieve the version of the prosecutrix or presume that the offence could not have been committed.

It stated that the prosecutrix consistently supported the prosecution case and clearly described the manner in which the incident took place in her statement to the police, and the court was therefore duty-bound to accord due weight to her version.

The court added the contention that the accused and the survivor's mother being in a relationship was not a ground to doubt her testimony.

It said the mother's alleged visit to the accused in jail or allegedly accepting money from him also did not dilute the gravity of the offence at this stage.

"The prosecutrix has consistently stated that the accused, whom she trusted and addressed as 'chacha', a relationship akin to a father figure, subjected her to repeated sexual assault. The alleged conduct of the prosecutrix's mother, even if assumed to be correct, cannot be a sole ground to doubt the version of a minor victim.

"The offence complained of is against a child, and its seriousness cannot be assessed through the conduct of a third party," the court observed.

"This court is not inclined to grant regular bail to the applicant at this stage. Accordingly, the present bail application along with pending application is dismissed," the court ordered.

7-Year-Old Madhya Pradesh Girl Raped, Murdered; Minor Relative Detained

Superintendent of Police Jagdish Dawar told reporters that the body of the child was recovered from the Indira Sagar Canal on January 26, following information from residents of a village in the Rajpur police station area of the district.

Police on Wednesday detained a 17-year-old relative of a seven-year-old girl in Barwani district of Madhya Pradesh for allegedly raping her and killing her by throwing her into a canal, a police official said.

Superintendent of Police Jagdish Dawar told reporters that the body of the child was recovered from the Indira Sagar Canal on January 26, following information from residents of a village in the Rajpur police station area of the district.

He said the post-mortem report concluded severe injuries to the girl's private parts and attributed her death to drowning.

Dawar said a 17-year-old boy, a close relative of the girl, has been detained in connection with the rape-murder.

The teenager told the police that he kidnapped the girl from her home on the night of January 25 while her family members were asleep, took her to a nearby canal and raped her, according to the official.

When the girl started screaming during the sexual assault, the minor boy allegedly threw her into the canal, with the intention of killing her. The child drowned in the water body, the official said.

The detained minor will be produced in a juvenile court.

A case has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and an investigation is underway, he added.

Manipur Riots Gang Rape Survivor Dies After 2 Years Of Trauma: Accused Still Not Identified

A woman who was gangraped during the 2023 Manipur riots has died at the age of 20, over two years after the assault. Her attackers still remain at large.

Two years after she was gangraped by an armed group of three men during the Manipur riots of 2023, a young woman has died. She was 18 at the time of assault. No arrests have been made so far in the case even after two-and-a-half-years.
As per her complaint, she was abducted in May 2023 from near an ATM booth in Imphal's New Checkon area, and "handed over" to the armed group by a group of women. The accused then took her to a hilltop where she was brutally gangraped and thrown off into a creek.

An autorickshaw driver who was transporting vegetables saw her and helped her. The next day, she fled Imphal and sought medical treatment at a hospital in Kangpokpi. She was later referred to hospitals in Kohima, Nagaland, and Guwahati, Assam.

However, despite multiple treatments, the survivor continued to suffer from deep psychological and physical trauma, including continuing uterine complications, the Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF) said. The 20-year-old succumbed to her injuries on January 10.

Despite over 30 months since the FIR was filed, the perpetrators remain at large.
On Saturday, several organisations, including the Committee on Tribal Unity, held a candlelight vigil, demanding accountability for her death.

Manipur Riots: The Case So Far

The Centre, in December 2025, gave another extension till May 20, 2026 to a Commission of Inquiry to submit its report on the probe into the 2023 Manipur violence that claimed 260 lives.
The three-member panel, headed by former Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court Ajai Lamba, was formed on June 4, 2023 in the aftermath of the ethnic violence which broke out in Manipur on May 3, 2023. The other two members of the commission included retired IAS officer Himanshu Shekhar Das and retired IPS officer Aloka Prabhakar.
The violence in Manipur was triggered after tribals living in the hill districts protested over a high court recommendation for granting Scheduled Tribe (ST) status to members of another community.
At least 260 people have been killed and thousands rendered homeless in the ethnic violence between the two communities.

Girl, 10, Raped In Delhi, Left In Forest Area By E-Rickshaw Driver: Cops

After having analysed footage from nearly 300 CCTVs installed across multiple routes, police arrested the accused.

New Delhi:
A 10-year-old girl, selling roses at traffic signals in central Delhi, was allegedly kidnapped, raped and left unconscious in a forest area by an e-rickshaw driver, police said on Thursday.

After having analysed footage from nearly 300 CCTVs installed across multiple routes and identifying his red e-rickshaw, police arrested the accused, Durgesh (25), a resident of Farrukhabad, Uttar Pradesh.

The incident occurred on January 10 in the Prasad Nagar area, where the girl was standing at a red light selling roses. The accused stopped his e-rickshaw after dropping off passengers.

"When the child approached him to sell flowers, he lured her by offering her tea near BL Kapoor Hospital," a senior police officer said.

The victim told police that Durgesh took her to a secluded area with a forest patch and a boundary wall. He then took her to a blue-painted room, adjoining the wall, with a broken entry point and raped her.

Believing her to be dead, Durgesh fled and left the girl unconscious and bleeding, police said.

After regaining consciousness, the girl managed to reach her family. Alarmed by her blood-soaked condition, they immediately took her to a hospital and informed the police.

The girl provided a clear description of the accused, including his facial features, clothing, and the red electric rickshaw with a white roof which he drove, police added.

A case under relevant sections of kidnapping and rape, along with provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, was registered, police said.

Police began scanning CCTV footage from the area where the child was last seen and from routes leading to the forest. The place of occurrence was finally identified on Ramnath Vijay Marg, after they found the girl's slipper near a blue-painted room.

Multiple CCTV cameras were analysed, through which the red electric rickshaw carrying the victim was traced. Thereafter, electric rickshaws standing at BL Kapoor Hospital, Karol Bagh Metro Station, Rajendra Place Metro Station, Patel Nagar Metro Station, and Pusa Chambri Bus Stand were checked.

Photographs of suspicious drivers were taken and circulated among the team for identification.

During further surveillance, the suspected red electric rickshaw was found parked between Rajendra Place Petrol Pump and JP Siddharth Hotel. The police team kept watch at the spot. After some time, a person matching the victim's description arrived at the location.

On noticing the police team, he attempted to flee but was chased and arrested.

During interrogation, Durgesh told police that he had noticed the girl at the traffic signal on earlier occasions and had planned the abduction. On his disclosure, police recovered blood-stained clothes and other evidence, he said.

The child is undergoing medical treatment and counselling. Further investigation is underway, police added.

Additional Sessions Judge Amit Sahrawat was hearing arguments on the sentencing of a 37-year-old man, who had been earlier convicted for rape and Section 6 (aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the POCSO Act.

New Delhi:
A Delhi court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for repeatedly raping his 11-year-old daughter, saying the convict shamefully shattered the most sacred relationship.

Additional Sessions Judge Amit Sahrawat was hearing arguments on the sentencing of a 37-year-old man, who had been earlier convicted for rape and Section 6 (aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the POCSO Act.

Special public prosecutor Aaditya Kumar argued that the convict did not deserve any leniency as he had shaken society's conscience.

In an order dated January 9, the court said, "The SPP has rightly submitted that the convict has shamefully shattered this most sacred relation of humanity. It (the crime) is further aggravated by the fact that he repeatedly raped the victim." It said the convict was required to be dealt with an "iron hand" as he was the victim's father.

The court then sentenced him to life imprisonment "for the remainder of his natural life." On compensation, the court noted the victim's submissions that she was still undergoing mental trauma and that she was besieged by the "horrible memories." Observing it was a fit case for the grant of compensation, the court awarded her Rs 10.5 lakh.

"Consensual Relationship Turning Sour Cannot Be Termed As Rape": Delhi Court

The Court stated that allegations of rape arising from broken relationships require careful judicial scrutiny, particularly where both parties are adults

Observing that "a consensual relationship turning sour cannot be retrospectively branded as rape", the Delhi High Court has quashed an FIR alleging rape and caste-based atrocity, holding that the criminal law cannot be invoked to settle personal grievances arising from a failed relationship.

A single-judge bench of Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma ruled that the material on record clearly indicated a long-standing consensual romantic relationship between the parties, and that continuing the prosecution would amount to an abuse of the process of law.

Leading with its analysis on consent, the Court stated that allegations of rape arising from broken relationships require careful judicial scrutiny, particularly where both parties are adults, and the record reflects voluntary intimacy over time. It cautioned against the growing tendency to convert failed relationships into criminal prosecutions under Section 376 of the IPC.

The Court noted that the complainant and the accused had known each other for nearly four years and remained in continuous contact, including frequent meetings and extensive WhatsApp communication. The verified chats, the Court observed, reflected mutual affection and normal interaction, even after the date of the alleged incident, and did not disclose coercion, force, or caste-based abuse.

"Consensual Relationship Turning Sour Cannot Be Termed As Rape": Delhi Court

The Court stated that allegations of rape arising from broken relationships require careful judicial scrutiny, particularly where both parties are adults

Taking note of the five-month delay in lodging the FIR, the Court held that while delay alone is not fatal in sexual offence cases, it assumes significance when read alongside the complainant's continued communication with the accused after the alleged incident.

On medical evidence, the Court recorded that no injuries or corroborative medical findings supported the allegation of forcible sexual assault. It further found the complainant's non-production of her mobile phone, despite a statutory notice, to be a relevant circumstance in assessing the overall credibility of the allegations.

Rejecting the claim of sexual exploitation on the false promise of marriage, the Court held that there was no material to show that any promise of marriage was made with dishonest intent at the inception of the relationship. The WhatsApp conversations, it noted, did not contain any assurance of marriage and instead reflected a gradually evolving consensual relationship.

On the invocation of Section 3(2)(v) of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, the Court clarified that the provision applies only when an offence is committed on the ground of the victim's caste identity. In the present case, it found no contemporaneous material or verified communication suggesting that the alleged acts were motivated by caste considerations, rendering the charge unsustainable.

Concluding that the case fell squarely within the parameters for exercising inherent powers under Section 482 CrPC, the Court quashed the FIR along with all consequential proceedings.

A man in Gujarat's Rajkot has been arrested following allegations that he sexually assaulted his 19-year-old daughter for the past four years and 17-year-old niece over the past seven years.

15-Year-Old Dragged Inside School Compound, Gang-Raped In Madhya Pradesh

Police said the girl had stepped out of her home to fetch water when the accused, all residents of the same village, overpowered her and dragged her inside the school compound. The accused then took turns raping her under threat.

A 15-year-old girl was gang-raped by two men and a minor inside the premises of a government primary school in Madhya Pradesh's Mauganj district on Friday.

Police said the girl had stepped out of her home to fetch water when the accused, all residents of the same village, overpowered her and dragged her inside the school compound. The accused then took turns raping her under threat. When she tried to resist, they assaulted her brutally before fleeing the scene.

Hours later, when the teenager failed to return home, her family began searching for her. She was found injured and unconscious near a paddy field close to the school boundary. After regaining consciousness, she recounted the horrific incident to her family, who immediately took her to the Laur police station and lodged a complaint.

Superintendent of Police Dilip Soni said the police took the matter "extremely seriously" and that "the minor was detained, while the two adult accused were arrested within ten hours of the complaint being filed."

The girl's family has alleged that while they were on their way to file the report, some policemen assaulted them and snatched their mobile phones. SP Soni denied the allegations, calling them "unfounded," and said the police acted swiftly and sensitively in the matter.

The survivor has been admitted to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Rewa and her medical examination has been completed, officials said.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused minor and the survivor attended the same school, which was also the scene of the crime. One of the accused had failed Class 9, and all three had dropped out of school. Their families are involved in farming.

Officials said the victim's mother occasionally worked at one of the accused's homes and that the accused minor had been stalking the girl for some time.

Police said a case under Sections 376-D (gang rape) and POCSO Act provisions has been registered and further investigation is underway.

Lawyers Thrash Man Accused Of Raping, Blackmailing Minor Schoolgirl

Police officers rushed in to intervene, leading to a heated argument between the lawyers and law enforcement personnel.

Bhopal:
In an explosive turn of events that has left the city reeling, lawyers and outraged onlookers beat up a 19-year-old accused of raping and blackmailing an innocent 11th-grade student, turning a routine court appearance into a fight right inside the premises of Bhopal's district court.

The accused, Osaf Ali Khan, was produced before the court by the police on Tuesday after his arrest for crimes against a minor girl in Bhopal. What was supposed to be a standard remand hearing quickly descended into an altercation as a group of furious lawyers surrounded the police escort and the handcuffed accused, allegedly assaulting him in broad daylight.

Screams echoed through the corridors as fists flew, with advocates reportedly beating Khan while demanding justice for the young victim. Police officers rushed in to intervene, leading to a heated argument between the lawyers and law enforcement personnel. A viral video capturing the intense argument and physical confrontation has since surfaced on social media.

According to police, the accused befriended the Class 11 girl through one of her friends and lured her into a relationship with promises of love and marriage. In July last year, he took her on a "ride" to a secluded spot in Khanugaon, where he allegedly raped her inside a car and secretly recorded an obscene video of the assault.

The nightmare didn't end there. Khan then blackmailed the terrified teenager, demanding Rs 1 lakh and threatening to leak the video if she didn't comply. In fear and humiliation, she managed to pay him Rs 40,000. When she tried to cut ties by blocking him, he escalated the torment, showing the explicit clip to her friends and mounting intense mental pressure on her to convert her religion, even forcing her to recite the Kalma and perform namaz against her will.

Distraught and broken, the minor finally confided in her family. Supported by members of Hindu organisations, she filed a complaint at the Kohefiza police station. An FIR was immediately registered under the stringent provisions of the POCSO Act, along with sections for rape, extortion, blackmail, and related offences.

Kohefiza Station House Officer Krishna Gopal Shukla confirmed, "The accused was arrested swiftly after the complaint. His mobile phone has been seized and sent for forensic analysis. We have taken him on a two-day police remand for detailed questioning. The investigation is ongoing, and strict action will follow based on emerging evidence."

Lucknow Horror: Woman Brutally Raped, Visually-Impaired Son Who Tried To Save Her Strangled; Accused Held After Encounter

Police arrested the accused in the brutal rape and murder of a woman and her visually-impaired son in Lucknow's Sisendi village after an encounter.

The Lucknow police arrested the accused in a brutal double murder of a woman and her visually-impaired son after a late-night encounter on Wednesday. A police constable was also injured in the exchange of fire. The accused, identified as 35-year-old Kishan Rawat of Sisendi village in Mohanlalganj, is alleged to have raped and assaulted the woman, before killing both her and her son. The crime had taken place on Monday, March 9, and triggered widespread outrage in the area.
As per investigators, the case may have been triggered by a financial dispute between the accused and the victim. The police say that the accused had allegedly lent her money and had been repeatedly pressuring her to repay the amount.
During the investigation, the post-mortem report detailed injuries on the woman's private parts, leading to suspicions of sexual assault. Police later checked CCTV footage which confirmed that Rawat had visited the victim's house a few hours before the murders. Investigators believe that the woman's visually-impaired son tried to save his mother during the attack, but the accused strangled him to death as well.

As police tracked Rawat down and moved in to intercept him, the accused allegedly opened fire in a bid to escape, leading to a gunfight. During the firing, a police constable suffered injuries. "Police retaliated in self-defence during which the accused suffered a bullet injury on his leg and was overpowered. He was taken into custody and taken to a hospital for treatment," a TOI report quoted Agarwal as saying. Senior officers, including Additional DCP Rallapalli Vasanth Kumar and ACP Vikas Pandey, later reached the spot and supervised the operation.

17 Men DNA-Tested Over Pregnant Mumbai Woman's Rape. Father Was A Match

Mumbai Father Rapes Daughter, Caught After DNA Test: The police said the rape took place sometime between March and September 21 of last year.

Mumbai:
A 20-year-old Mumbai woman - who is unable to hear and cannot speak - was raped and impregnated by her father, who has been arrested after DNA tests confirmed his relationship with the foetus, in a deeply disturbing case from the city's Cuffe Parade neighbourhood.

In a grisly case that began in September last year, police earlier also arrested a second man and detained a 17-year-old boy, both of whom were identified by the woman as having raped her, and said the roles of others are being investigated, underscoring the horrific nature of the crime.

The father was arrested after lab tests of DNA samples from 17 suspects.

What happened?

In September 2025 the woman complained to her grandmother about discomfort in her stomach. Using hand gestures, she said felt like "insects crawling" in her stomach.

She was then admitted to the city's Cama & Albless Hospital. A medical examination revealed a pregnancy in its fifth month. The hospital administration immediately informed the police.

The police said they initially faced a communication problem because the woman was unable, and unwilling, to make a statement. The cops then spoke to the father, who dismissed questions about sexual abuse and could not explain how his daughter had become pregnant.

He also refused to file a complaint.

However, after counselling the woman agreed to file that complaint.

Based on the information she provided, the cops arrested two people, i.e., the second man and the boy. They also took DNA and bloods samples from 17 suspects, including the father, and matched them against genetic data from the foetus to establish the rapist's identity.

On January 27 the report revealed only one positive match - the father.

According to the police, the rape took place sometime between March and September 21 of last year.

The police case was registered the following day, i.e., September 22.

I Did It For You, Anna': The Untold Story Of 'Revenge Mother'

In 1981, Marianne Bachmeier shot dead her daughter's rapist and killer in a courtroom in Lubeck. Her story of trauma, grief, revenge and justice divided Germany.

On a cold morning on March 6, 1981, the stillness inside a quiet courtroom in northern Germany's Lubeck city, was pierced by seven gunshots. The shots were fired from a .22-caliber Beretta pistol and the one holding the gun was a single mother, who aimed the weapon at her daughter's rapist and killer. Marianne Bachmeier was 30 when she shot dead Klaus Grabowski, the man accused of raping and murdering her seven-year-old daughter Anna. "I did it for you, Anna," she said, as Grabowski slumped and collapsed dead on the courtroom floor.

The case made headlines around the world. Bachmeier was immediately detained, but what followed was not just a criminal case, but a national awakening about justice, childhood trauma and the long shadows cast by suffering.

Bachmeier's Early Childhood Trauma

Long before newspapers had labelled her Germany's 'Revenge Mother', Bachmeier's life had already been marked by abuse, neglect, and tragedy. Born on June 3, 1950, in Sarstedt, West Germany, she grew up without stability at home. Her father was a former Waffen-SS soldier, and her family life was fractured and challenging. As per several accounts, her father struggled with alcoholism and was prone to aggression after drinking. After her parents divorced, her mother remarried. However, at the urging of her stepfather, who felt Bachmeier was a "troubled" teenager, she was thrown out of the house by her mother. At 16, Bachmeier was homeless.

Bachmeier had already entered early adulthood in a way few do. She became a mother and, unable to care for the child, she placed her first daughter up for adoption. At 18, she faced another pregnancy. However, shortly before the child was born, Bachmeier was raped - another trauma she would carry silently. Again, she gave up the baby for adoption.

Anna was her third child. Anna was born in 1972 and this time, Bachmeier decided to raise her on her own. At the time Bachmeier worked at a pub in Lubeck. Sometimes she would bring Anna to work with her. As a single parent, she struggled in a city that judged her life choices harshly. Friends and reporters described her lifestyle as unconventional. While there was affection between mother and daughter, critics slammed Bachmeier's bohemian life and long hours at the bar while bringing up a child.

The Crime That Changed Everything

On May 5, 1980, following an alleged dispute with Bachmeier, Anna left home, and never returned. The seven-year-old had skipped school and was later abducted by Grabowski, a 35-year-old butcher and convicted sex offender. According to prosecutors, Grabowski lured Anna into his apartment, sexually assaulted her, and strangulated her with a pair of tights, later hiding her body in a box and abandoning it near a canal bank.

It was during his trial for Anna's murder that Bachmeier made her fateful decision.

The Courtroom Shooting

Bachmeier sat through days of trial, listening to lawyers argue, watching Grabowski's team try to defend him, even suggesting that a hormonal imbalance was to blame. On the third day, Bachmeier could no longer contain her grief and rage. She reached into her handbag, pulled out her pistol, approached the defendant and fired repeatedly at his back. Seven shots. Grabowski died almost instantly.
Watch below: A social media user shares a clip from a movie based on Bachmeier's courtroom shooting:

Bachmeier was apprehended on the spot, bloody but calm.
The moment - broadcast around the world - stunned audiences everywhere. Journalists, jurists and ordinary Germans watched in disbelief as Bachmeier carried out an intentional and violent act of retribution.

Germany Divided

Bachmeier's act divided Germany. Some saw her as a grieving mother driven beyond reason, while others saw a woman who struck back at a justice system they felt had failed her and her daughter. In the end, German courts chose nuance over outright condemnation. In 1983, Bachmeier was convicted of manslaughter and unlawful possession of a firearm. She was sentenced to six years in prison, and ultimately served three before being released on probation.
Her trial raised questions about the thin line between justice and revenge. Public opinion was split, with many seeing her actions as understandable, but not legally justifiable.

Life After Prison

After her release from prison, Bachmeier attempted to rebuild a life beyond the courtroom. She sold her story to a German magazine for legal fees and later moved abroad, linving in Nigeria for a time and then settling down in Sicily. She married, divorced and tried to establish some sort of normalcy before her life was cut short. In 1996, at just 46 years old, she died of pancreatic cancer, and was buried next to her daughter Anna, in Lubeck.

Mumbai Court Cuts Rape Convict's Life Term, Cites Essay On Mahatma Gandhi

The bench passed the order on an appeal filed by the convict, challenging the life sentence imposed on him by a special Pocso court.

Mumbai:
The Bombay High Court has reduced the life sentence of a man, convicted for raping a minor girl, to 12 years, taking note of his young age, long incarceration and reformative efforts in prison, including participation in an essay programme on Mahatma Gandhi.

A bench of Justices Sarang Kotwal and Sandesh Patil, in its February 2 order, a copy of which was made available on Tuesday, upheld the conviction of the man in the 2016 offence, but noted the life sentence imposed on him deserves to be reduced.

The bench passed the order on an appeal filed by the convict, challenging the life sentence imposed on him by a special Pocso court.

The convict was 20 years old at the time of the offence, had no prior criminal record, had been in custody since December 2016, and was not released even during the COVID-19 pandemic, the court noted.

The bench also considered certificates showing his participation in prison educational activities, including an essay competition and a programme studying the thoughts of Mahatma Gandhi.

Taking into account these reformative factors against the seriousness of the crime, the bench held, "In our opinion, the sentence of 12 years would meet the ends of justice." The period which the convict has already spent in jail will be set off against the reduced sentence, it added.

The prosecution's case was that on December 9, 2016, the victim, then aged five, went to a neighbour's house to fetch water, where the accused sexually assaulted her.

The frightened child immediately informed the family bout the incident, who confronted the accused before the family approached the police with a complaint. The victim later testified in the trial court at the age of eight.

The HC found the minor girl's testimony reliable and consistent, noting she had narrated the incident clearly and without tutoring.

The man was arrested on May 19, 2020, following an FIR lodged on a complaint by the victim's mother, alleging harassment, abusive calls, and threats by the accused

A Thane court has acquitted a man accused of raping a girl alleged to be a minor, citing insufficient evidence to establish her age and observing that the relationship appeared to be "more or less consensual in nature."

The prosecution failed to prove the allegations against the 22-year-old man beyond a reasonable doubt, special judge for POCSO Act cases, Ruby U Malvankar observed in the judgment on November 13.

The accused and the victim resided in the Bhayander area of Maharashtra's Thane district. The man was arrested on May 19, 2020, following an FIR lodged on a complaint by the victim's mother, alleging harassment, abusive calls, and threats by the accused.

He was charged under provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and released on bail on August 20, 2020

The victim later in her statement claimed they had fallen in love and were in a "deep relationship."

The court noted the critical importance of age in POCSO Act cases.

"As per Section 2(d), POCSO Act, a 'child' is a person below the age of 18 years. Hence, it is the primary onus on the prosecution to prove that the victim is a child," it said.

The victim's birth date was stated as June 24, 2003, and her mother claimed to have submitted a photocopy of the birth certificate.

The court, however, said, "Throughout the trial, the original birth certificate reflecting the date of birth of the victim was not produced on record. Resultantly, therefore, there is no evidence on record to conclusively arrive at any legitimate inference in respect of her precise date of birth." "Therefore, in the absence of any such evidence, the prosecution has failed to prove that the victim was a 'child' below 18 years of age at the relevant time when the incident allegedly took place." The judge also highlighted several admissions by the victim.

"...her relations with the accused were mostly voluntary, consensual, and of her own free will. She also admitted that if her mother would not have approached the police station, the victim herself would have never gone to the police," the court said.

"...she wanted to marry the accused, and she wanted to have their love affair end in their marriage, and for that purpose, even the relatives from both sides had met each other," it noted.

The relationship between the accused and the victim was "more or less consensual in nature," the court observed.

"The elements of the offences do not get established against the accused and hence, the answers to all the points are required to be recorded in the negative, and the accused deserves to be acquitted," it said.

"What'll You Do?" Man's Unsettling Calm After Raping, Killing MBA Girlfriend

The remarks came days after he murdered his 24-year-old girlfriend, an MBA student, inside his rented accommodation in Madhya Pradesh's Indore

New Delhi:
The cameras were already rolling when Piyush Dhamnotiya stepped into view. He did not attempt to hide his face. He did not lower his voice. Instead, he smiled faintly and spoke in a tone that was unsettlingly calm.

"Whatever had to happen had already happened. Leave it. What will you do after knowing?" he told reporters. "Time will come, I will tell everything."

The remarks came days after he murdered his 24-year-old girlfriend, an MBA student, inside his rented accommodation in Madhya Pradesh's Indore, a crime that police allege involved sexual assault, strangulation, and acts of necrophilia.

The case has since exposed disturbing details which include a missing complaint that families say was not acted upon quickly, explicit videos circulated from the victim's phone, CCTV footage showing the accused leaving alone with a bag, and what police describe as bizarre behaviour by the suspect after the killing, including attempts to perform rituals to "summon" the woman's "spirit".

The Disappearance

The victim, a first-year MBA student at an institute in Indore, left home on Tuesday after telling her family she needed to get her birth certificate corrected. Her father dropped her near the collectorate earlier that day.

Later, she spoke to her younger sister on the phone and said she would attend a birthday gathering with her classmate and boyfriend, Piyush Dhamnotiya, and would return home by 11 pm.

She never did.

Around 11 pm that night, a message was sent from her phone: "Tell Papa she won't be returning home."

Soon afterwards, the phone was switched off.

Around the same time, objectionable videos showing the woman were posted to a college WhatsApp group from her phone. Her face was visible, while the face of the other individual was obscured with emojis. Investigators suspect the man in the footage was Dhamnotiya.

The college management removed the content and contacted her father the next day, Wednesday, informing him both about the video and the fact that the phones of both students were switched off.

Alarmed, the family began searching for her. A missing person complaint was eventually registered late Wednesday night after the family approached multiple police stations.

The family later alleged that there had been little urgency in tracing her despite repeated pleas. According to them, a police officer visited Dhamnotiya's rented house in Dwarkapuri area of Indore, locked it from the outside, and left, saying the landlord would be informed if anyone arrived.

The Discovery

Two days later, on Friday, residents in the locality complained of a strong foul smell coming from the locked house.

Police broke open the door.

Inside, they found the woman's naked body lying in an advanced state of decomposition. The victim's father later said the body had deteriorated so severely that he could identify his daughter only by the socks she was wearing.

Rope marks were visible around her neck, indicating strangulation. An initial medical assessment estimated the time of death to be around three days earlier, consistent with the day she disappeared.

Police recovered CCTV footage from cameras near the rented accommodation.

According to police, the footage shows Dhamnotiya arriving at the house with the woman on February 10. Approximately two and a half hours later, he is seen leaving alone, carrying a bag.

What Police Allege

Police allege that Dhamnotiya pressured the woman for sex. She refused, saying she was unwell. Police claim he then raped her.

Afterwards, police say he tied her hands and feet with ropes available in the apartment and blindfolded her, telling her he wanted to give her a "gift."

When she resisted again, police allege he stuffed cloth into her mouth and sat on her chest, choking her until she lost consciousness.

Realising she had stopped breathing, police say he stabbed her near the chest with a knife with such force that the blade broke.

Police further allege that he remained inside the room after the killing, went out to purchase beer, returned, and drank beside her body.

During interrogation, he allegedly admitted to sexually assaulting the body before changing his clothes and fleeing, leaving the victim naked.

The Videos

Police say 11 objectionable videos were circulated using the victim's phone after the incident.

The clips were shared in a college WhatsApp group, uploaded to her WhatsApp status, and sent to contacts saved on her phone, alarming relatives and acquaintances.

The victim's father alleged that his daughter had been mentally tortured and blackmailed by Dhamnotiya before her death. He said she had expressed concerns to her younger sister.

The Suspect's Movements

After leaving Indore, police say Dhamnotiya travelled to Mumbai, moving through Panvel and staying in hotels.

Police say he roamed metro stations and destroyed the victim's mobile phone to eliminate evidence.

According to police, he went to a secluded location in Panvel, lit incense sticks, watched YouTube videos on how to "summon spirits", and attempted what investigators described as "black magic" rituals.

The Arrest

Dhamnotiya, originally from Madhya Pradesh's Mandsaur where his father runs a grocery store, had moved to Indore for his MBA studies.

He was arrested in Mumbai with assistance from Mumbai Police and brought back to Indore. He is currently on police remand for interrogation.

During interrogation, police say Dhamnotiya gave multiple versions of events.

In one account, he claimed he wanted to marry the woman but believed she was distancing herself and had not spoken to him for about 15 days. He said he saw a dating app on her phone and assumed she was communicating with another man, leading to an argument that escalated.

The teenager, a first-year student of Psychology and Journalism at a private college in Bengaluru, is a native of Tamil Nadu

Bengaluru (Karnataka):
A 19-year-old college student was allegedly drugged and sexually assaulted by two men at a private villa in Bengaluru. The incident took place on Valentine's Day at a party the woman was invited to. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation.

The teenager, a first-year student of psychology and journalism at a private college in Bengaluru, is a native of Tamil Nadu. She has been living in a PG accommodation.

She reportedly got in touch with one of the accused through social media about a month before the incident. The two remained in regular contact through chats and phone calls.

According to the complaint dated February 21, the woman was invited to a party at the villa after dinner with a friend on the night of February 14. There she was introduced to another man present at the gathering.

In her complaint, the survivor alleged that the two men forced her to consume a pink-coloured intoxicating tablet, after which she experienced dizziness, body heat, and partial loss of consciousness.

The woman stated that she was taken to a room, where the two men allegedly sexually assaulted her repeatedly while she was in a semi-conscious condition.

The woman further alleged that the accused touched her private parts and continued the assault despite her resistance.

She was allegedly confined inside the room and given death threats if she told anyone about the abuse or approached the police.

Due to fear and trauma, the woman refrained from registering a complaint. A few days later, after seeking medical treatment and informing her elder brother about the incident, she approached the police and filed a formal complaint.

Based on her statement, a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered with regard to sexual assault, repeated sexual violence, and criminal intimidation.

Man Files Counter Complaint, Alleges Blackmail

In a counter complaint, one of the accused has alleged blackmail and criminal intimidation. In his complaint, the man, a resident of Rajajinagar stated that the villa had been booked by his friend for a Valentine's Day celebration between February 14 and February 16. He claims to have attended the party during the early hours of February 14, where he was introduced to a woman through mutual acquaintances.

The man alleged that during the party the woman shared personal issues and interacted closely with him. After the party got over at around 4 AM, the woman allegedly asked the man to drop her. The man claims to have fulfilled her request and returned home.

The complainant stated that on February 18 he noticed an Instagram post allegedly made by the same woman claiming that she had been given intoxicating substances and sexually assaulted during the party.

After the post went viral, the man allegedly began receiving calls from people identifying themselves as members of a television news channel's crime branch.

The callers demanded that he meet them alone and pay money to settle the matter, threatening to broadcast a damaging news if didn't comply, the complainant claimed.

The man has accused the woman and unidentified callers of impersonation, criminal intimidation, and attempted extortion.

Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the allegations.

Andhra Pradesh Girl Escapes Stepfather's Abuse, Sexually Assaulted by Strangers in Odisha

A 17-year-old fleeing her stepfather's abuse in Andhra Pradesh was allegedly drugged and gang-raped in Odisha. Police arrested two men and detained a minor under the POCSO Act.

Bhubaneswar: A 17-year-old girl who fled her home in Andhra Pradesh to escape sexual abuse by her stepfather was allegedly drugged and raped by two men in Odisha. The incident occurred in Berhampur on March 29, and police rescued the teenager after receiving tips from local residents. Berhampur Superintendent of Police Saravana Vivek M confirmed that three individuals were taken into custody. Two adults, aged 23 and 19, have been arrested, while a 15-year-old boy was sent to a juvenile home. Authorities have registered a gang rape case under several laws, including the POCSO Act, which protects minors from sexual offences. Additionally, the police filed a separate case against the girl’s stepfather in Andhra Pradesh, as his alleged abuse is what originally forced her to run away from home.

During the investigation, police found out that the girl, a native of Kadapa district in Andhra Pradesh, had fled her home and reached Berhampur railway station aboard Prashanti Express on March 24 to escape sexual abuse by her stepfather

Spent Time at Railway Station, Found Work at Tea Stall

She told the police that her mother had remarried after the death of her father, and the stepfather used to sexually abuse her. After arriving at Berhampur, she spent some time at a platform and later found work at a nearby tea stall. There, she befriended a local boy, who took her to meet his friends on March 29.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the girl was offered a drink spiked with sedatives following which she lost consciousness. The two adults allegedly raped her while the minor boy assisted them. Later, she was found by local people, who informed the police. The survivor was produced before the District Child Welfare Committee and her medical examination was conducted. She was lodged in a child care home as per the directions of the CWC, police said.
The incident came to the fore a day after Bhubaneswar Police arrested two ambulance drivers on the charge of raping a 21-year-old woman from neighbouring West Bengal. Opposition BJD, meanwhile, came down heavily on the state's BJP government and expressed concern over the rising incidents of rape in the state.

Addressing a press conference in Bhubaneswar, BJD general secretary Sumitra Jena alleged that women in Odisha have become extremely unsafe after the BJP assumed power in the state. Quoting a recent reply of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi in the assembly, the BJD leader said that 48,798 cases of crimes against women were registered in the state in just 18 months (from July 1, 2024 to December 31, 2025).
Of these, 4,292 rape cases were registered. At present, Odisha under the BJP ranks first in the country in cases of crimes against women, while Maharashtra stands second, Jena added.
