India should go for the win, and not try to dead bat the entire day. Most likely they will lose regardless of what they do, but at least this way they go down swinging.

England have gone into a "do not lose mode" rather than "play to win mode".

Keeping in mind the bigger picture India should play safe-at least first two sessions......GO Indiaaaaa...

One of those bat first matches. Pitch is showing signs of wear and tear. Let us face it. This is not exactly the stellar Indian batting line up against spin. Losing 6 wickets to spinners in the first innings was atrocious. Apart from Pujara who got out unluckily every other wicket was gifted to the spinners.

Anderson is saying the pitch is so abrasive that they were able to reverse the ball after 4 overs yesterday.

Win is out of equation unless someone scores 200 and plays like the West Indian debutant.

India's best bet is to save the test match.

Win is completely out of the equation with only 6 more wickets as the tail sucks. Last 3 batsmen are worth 5 runs 10 balls. They just have to eke out a draw here.

I wish we could save this but am sure am gonna wake up to a loss coz we will “go” for it

They have to play normally upto 2nd sessions and then go for the target or start bloackathon depending on the match situation. They just can't just go for it from the first over itself.

Anderson has been under rated so far in this test. I feel how india handles him will be so crucial..

Pitch is turning big. Eng should be able to win here.

Tough one but doable unless the pitch breaks crazy.

What is this field to the spinner though?

India is not saving it. Pitch has turn and bounce here. Eng has to bowl just normally and wickets will come.

We'll regret throwing away our first innings wickets to innocuous spinners. Thats been our undoing in this test, besides of course losing the all important toss.

Gill messing with England's head. Making them think - Are India going for it? :))

Root not sure what to do with his fields. Keep them in, or spread them a little :rabada2

Why the hell Eng has fielders on the boundary with so many runs...

Eng should plug the singles and let Indians hit it over the top. Wickets will come here with bounce and turn here.

With the utmost respect to Root/any Test captain. If this is the ‘dilemma’ they face with c. 350 to be chased with 8 in hand on 5th day, then questions need to be asked to those who deemed Root fit and proper to lead the side.

Think more than anything it stems from having two ‘spinners’ who lack control. Given the kind of spinners they have, it is even more bizarre that they are so loose.

Basically Root is waiting for the ball/bowler to bowl one that turns/grips on the wicket instead of forcing the issue.

Think it’s lack of trust in the bowlers. No way you need deep midwicket, long on and deep point all together.

Fantastic ball to get Gill here.

Eng is winning this easily....

And that's why England are gonna lose this series 3-0 or 3-1.

Absolute jaffa from jimmy....that ball alone shows how good jimmy is

Lulled Gill into a false sense of security I feel.

Not to mention Root seems to be happier attacking with his fields when his pacers are bowling.

Dear Indian fans, If you want to win anything substantial please remove clown Kohli from captaincy.

Game is over. India should go for a counter attack. If you are going to lose, at least lose going for it. No way they can defend for 76 overs.

India were foolish to get England all out yesterday, should have let them bat and bat... lol

Anderson bowling well probably the best in his career vs India without clouds (in these conditions). And Indian batsmen totally misjuding the lengths. That apart - this is the 36 all out moment for India. Under Kohli never chased well. And finally even having one weaklink is bad against good teams and India had two (now three with rahane) rohit and Nadeem. Thank you kohli for the selections.

Lol. Why? Rahana himself didn’t make any runs and is pathetic against spinners in India. And under Kohli we won our first ever test series in Australia which IS Substantial.

Doesnt matter how you lose, a loss is a loss.. :azhar2

Better to shut shop and try to draw the game.

They should give the ball to Stokes who is very good at reverse swing.
No need to overbowl the spinners.

Rahane should have been dropped years ago but wasn't. And he won't be dropped even now, with success in Australia and all.

James Anderson

Getting beautiful reverse after 27 overs :smith

Not just about ‘getting it’. More about controlling it and getting it to finish off/middle ideally. Length too is important to ensure the shape/dip is not revealed early to the batsmen.

Nortje/Rabada/Ngidi/Hassan wasted it in the First Test. Either finishing below leg or too short. Despite bowling quicker than this guy. Hassan managed to realign his radar a bit in the second test (first innings). Results were clear.

Every Tom, Dick and Harry can get reverse these days, it is no longer a novelty and bowlers need to be quite accurate too as batsmen are expecting it these days. Few can exploit it in the manner it is to be exploited: one or two 5-6 over spells to change the face of the game.

Jimgrumpy is legend....and since india is at the receiving end brings them out crawling out of the woodworks....internet servers are groaning now....:)

Kohli - your time has arrived!
