We've gotten smashed for 444 runs, but can this be a blessing in disguise?

It's an opportunity to see what our batting is capable, if they can even get close to the target, play some modern cricket when it's needed. Doubt we'll even be close but anything over 300 I will be somewhat satisfied.

As for bowling, hopefully this will prove that Yasir Shah is not an LOI bowler. Wahab is living on the edge of a knife in my eyes, way too expensive and not enough wickets. Don't know what the team management think though.

So, is this a blessing in disguise?

If such results help us get rid of our captain and some other passengers like Malik and Riaz I am all for it.

How many blessing in disguises do we need? I've been blessing in disguises for quite a while now

Of course.

Micky won't pick this rubbish attitude and performance of the so called seniors. Believe me some big chances are coming in the ODI arena.

You know things are bad when the opposition scores the highest ODI total ever and we call it a blessing in disguise

yep.. there ave been plenty of opportunities to clean up the team. To think this would do anything drastic is just naive

Pakistan is having these blessings in disguise since 2003....

The average domestic 50 over match score at Trent bridge is 381 this season.

So Pakistan should score 350 in theory given their old fashioned batting style.

I think realistically 300 is a more realistic target.

No, just forget blessing in disguise for now. It will take a few years to change the ODI setup.

Let's look for long term solutions and stregies to fix what's wrong rather than for short term relifs.

It's great because you know if Pakistan had won the toss they would have been aiming for a score of 270-280. Great to see the game being played so aggressively and without fear. Now the Pakistan players will be forced to come out and bat like it's 2016 for a change. They'll be furious that they have to jeapordise their averages.

Sometimes, there is trigger moment in each side, not in a way they will play but the mindset with which they play. With these kind of herculean totals to mount, players know, either to change the conservative way they play the game or you are not skilled enough and vacate the place for other who can. The world cricket is evolving exponentially in LOIs and it certainly won't be sybaritic to see Pakistan perform like this

Man out of last 10/12 highest totals, 8 came in last year onward. That 's alarming, ICC has to do something, its sort of a tipping point, like off spinner chucking issue... Game is slipping away, time to make some serious rules/laws adjustments, governing body has to come into action :(

As long as Azhar, Wahab, Yasir, and at least one of Hafeez/Malik are all booted out, then yes.

Nothing less will be enough.

I was going to start a similar thread, this will make them realize that gone are the old day where 250 could be a good score.

Just look at how they have started here, 45 runs after 6 overs is a very good start even in T20s.

Should be a wake up call PCB. I expect Australia to be the first team in ODIs scoring 500 runs against Pakistan if PCB does not act now!

Could Pakistan’s loss to England be a blessing in disguise?

Pakistan has looked toothless in the three matches. The mediocre scores in the first two matches took the interest right out of the game, and completing the second innings became a mere formality. The third match just reminded everyone how pathetic Pakistan’s performances have been in recent years. We have a new coach with a proven track record. We have a strong selection committee that is being led by one of Pakistan’s all-time great batsman.

Will they be able to see exactly where the problem lies? Will they be able to replace those who have been simply occupying the spaces based on their names and empty reputations? Did Pakistan need this sort of performance to get Mickey Arthur and Inzamam going?

Yes, everything went wrong yesterday. Wahab is a tremendous fast bowler - he scared Watson & barring a drop have won a QF against AUS; he gave a match to PAK in plates, only for Tuk tuk Misbah not finishing the dinner.

This is one of those days to forget - Wahab is senior & he must be supported till WC 2019.

Are you sure - this CoS was one of the strongest ever Captains of PAK & during his 4 years, in total 3 players were debuted for PAK - Riaz Afridi (1 Test), Asif & Rehman. May be I am missing 1 or 2, but that's it. And, those days, PAK used to play lot at home, means one could have tested new players in home series.

Blessings ..... if you consider that it probably will never happen to us again !!!!!!! Hope not.

Edge of the knife?

Bro - he should be dropped immediately. His bowling was frankly unacceptable as the most experienced bowler in our attack.

It is only a blessing in disguise if drastic changes are made as outlined below:

1) Shehzad and Umer Akmal MUST be recalled to the ODI team asap.

2) Malik and Hafeez should be dropped.

3) Aamer Yamin MUST be incorporated into the ODI team as an all-rounder.

4) Haris Sohail must be re-integrated into the ODI squad as soon as he is fit to play.

5) Azhar Ali must be removed from captaincy and handed over to Sarfraz or Babar

6) Rizwan could be given opportunities in the ODI squad.

7) Ehsan Adil should be tried as front line pacer in the ODI squad.

8) Sohail Khan should replace Wahab Riaz.

9) Amir may be used as a pinch hitter - he has the capability.

Preferred ODI Squad:

1) Umer Akmal
2) Sharjeel Khan
3) Shehzad
4) Babar Azam
5) Haris Sohail
6) Rizwan
7) Sarfraz
8) Imad
9) Aamir Yamin
10 Amir
11) Ehsan Adil

safe to say that Pak is the most "blessed" team. But its all in disguise :p

Some funny posts here.
Shehzad is part of the reason we are 9th. We need 2 players like Sharjeel at the top and shehzad doesn't have the game or the balls to pull it off.
Umar does though

Bit of a killer memory for Pakistani supporters!

Yes this was the day
