What's new

England thrash (146/9) Sri Lanka (95) by 51 runs in T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8 clash

2.6 degrees of spin so far - most in any Pallekele match so far in this tournament.

And still Hemantha sucked. Shows how bad he is.

England struggling against spin in these pitches. Pakistan have a good chance of reaching semis. They are generally good against Lankans.

Ben duckett has been omitted from the side I don't see the reasoning behind that decision.

Ben duckett is probably the best player against spin bowling. He has array of sweep shots.

Srilanka versus New Zealand is the match I m looking forward to that match will decide who is gonna be in the semi finals.

I don't see srilanka winning against Pakistan and England won't win against New Zealand either.
Pakistan should play semi finals by the looks of it.

Pathetic capitulation by England

Ongoing problems with quality spin

And Lanka are without their best spinner

150+/- seems below par

Lankan bowlers have done well to check the talented but erratic England

147 should not be a difficult chase on this wicket.

Not sure if there are too many other players you could have brought in
There's Duckett warming the bench. Jacks could be opening without the added pressure of losing the precious wicket of Buttler for nothing earlier on. Luke Wood is probably a better bowling option than Overton.

Road map for SL here, play 1st 2 overs carefully then go hard for next 4 overs. If they can't score in power play then it will be challenging for them.

:kp

Jacks is one of the few things for them that has worked. I wouldn't mess with that. Besides, he is not capable of batting the same way when he opens the batting

Luke Wood is a one-trick pony. If the ball is swinging he might take a few wickets, otherwise largely useless and expensive. Overton can bat and is a wicket-taker

just as I thought, england are there for the taking
we should take advantage of their spin weakness big time, I hope more sensible heads prevail and get abrar off the bench

One wonders if England would have even gotten through if Bangladesh were playing. Kolkata offered a fair bit for the spinners too. Rishad, Mustafizur, Nasum would have enjoyed bowling there.

Guess we'll never know.. :kp

Yeah, Jacks can't play that new ball particularly well. Especially those hard lengths .

There is somewhat of a case for Luke Wood because he's the only one one who can bowl with the new ball apart from Jofra and at least he brings a bit of variety

Jacks has spent all his life batting in top 3. There's no reason why he wouldn't have worked here. Buttler is too costly of a wicket to lose first up. Plus his form isn't doing him any favors.
Overton is unreliable and lacks control. Wood can open the bowling and can bowl at the death.

It would be in Pakistan’s favour if England wins today, but it doesn’t seem like.

I just find Luke Wood to be vastly overrated

Jacks had a strike-rate in the 120s when he was batting in the top 3 for England. In this tournament he has struck at 190 at 7. So clearly the change has been much better for him and England because England already have plenty of players who can bat in the top 3 but not many who can play the finisher role as effectively.
