Pakistan will get hammered 3-0 again. England batsmen will wrack up runs quickly like last series. Pakistan weak batting will be exposed again.

Salman Ali Agha, during an interaction with the media at Multan Cricket Stadium:

"I have an idea of how tough they [England Cricket Team] are and what tough challenges they will give us. And we are preparing for it and will try to produce a better result than the previous year."

"We can't predict anything about the pitch; we still have time for it, but we have a plan, and we will follow it."

"We are aware of the kind of cricket they [England] play - [BazBall] - and we have prepared our own plans and will try to tackle them as per their style of game."

"The weather conditions were much hotter in the Champions One-Day Cup 2024 and the series against Bangladesh. And it will be a plus point for us, as we are used to Pakistan's weather conditions, and I think they are coming here from cold weather."

i wonder if multan pitch will turn, it was still pretty good last time england played there.
Pak only hope is a extra dry surface on day 1 which crumbles by day 3 - play 2 pacers , 2 spinners & Agha as the 5th bowling option . ENG is a better TEST side & you need a spicy pitch [ perhaps substandard is a better word ] to close the gap between the 2 teams . My take from Accuweather is we are in for hot 450 overs of play . Can local guys confirm ? c @BouncerGuy @Asad T @Mamoon

Stuart Broad during at an event of MCC said:

“I think the style will work in Pakistan, for sure.”

“It was a great tour to Pakistan in 2022, all the players really enjoyed it and ultimately, England’s batting group are wonderful players of spin."

“I think they’re really positive and aggressive, they can find the boundary and don’t get tied down by spin. England will have to play that fast-paced cricket to force results over there, because you generally do need five days to make something happen.”

“Pakistan have not been playing the best cricket.”

“They’ve been struggling, so England should see that as a positive and go there trying to apply pressure to that team as soon as they possibly can."

“But we always know Pakistan, they’ve got world-class talent and players that can win a game on their own. It won’t be an easy challenge."

“The surfaces (in Pakistan) were a bit slower and turned but in their recent series, they’ve had a bit of green grass on, actually, and carried through a bit more. I don’t know which way Pakistan will lean on their pitches - they might leave a bit of grass on, seeing an inexperienced bowling group from England.”

“There has been a changeover of personnel, so it’ll take a bit of time to embed what the style is into those players, but a lot of them have just settled in fantastically.”

“Jamie Smith, for example, has been brought in to do that role, to accelerate when we lose wickets, and he’s done it wonderfully throughout the summer."

“As a cricket fan, a Test match fan, an England fan, I think what Brendon and Ben have done is a wonderful thing. Yes, the results have been inconsistent on the odd occasion, but I’d much prefer us to have a go at things and try and win every single game than lose being negative."

“It’s been an amazing style for young players to learn their game and have amazing freedom. The key to it is the consistency in selection.”
He is excited about the Pakistan-England Test series, but wonders why he wasn't invited to join the commentary panel.

Why on the earth, test match in pak is starting on Monday? Any reasons or its pcb way of saying "we don't care"?

Any particular reason why it should not????
Purely commercial. If the test starts/happens on weekends ,atleast on those days fans can enjoy the spectacle in the stadium and brings the profit to the table. All the tests mostly starts on Thursday around the world.even india moved away from starting test matches on random days .even for bangladesh series, test matches started on Thursday and Friday.

It might look awkward, yes. i agree but PCB has a lot of things going on atm. I think they have never been smart with scheduling a series.

You can expect such things from pcb.

Olly Stone To Return Home For Wedding, Unlikely To Play Second Test Against Pakistan

Olly Stone is set to return home from England's tour of Pakistan on Wednesday for his wedding this weekend, making it unlikely he will be available for the second Test in Multan. Stone took seven wickets in two Tests against Sri Lanka at the end of the English summer, marking his first appearances in the format in three years. Brydon Carse was chosen as England's high-pace option for the first Test in Multan, allowing Stone to depart earlier than initially planned.

The date of Stone's return remains uncertain and will depend on the status of England's fast bowlers following the first Test. However, with his wedding on Saturday and the second Test beginning on Tuesday, his participation is doubtful.

England opted for Carse, Gus Atkinson, and Chris Woakes as their seamers for the first Test, with Matthew Potts also in the squad.

The England management has approved Stone's leave, considering he was not included in their latest central contracts and his wedding had been planned long before his recall.

Stone discussed his plans with England's managing director Rob Key and coach Brendon McCullum before the tour, and they agreed he should return home for his wedding.

"We booked the wedding on the basis of me only playing for Notts at the time," Stone recently told the BBC, as per quoted by ESPNcricinfo.

"Jess said she was happy to move the wedding and I was adamant on keeping it where it was if possible. For what she has given up and sacrificed for me, I thought the least I could do was to try and make it work," he added.

In a previous era, seamer Tony Pigott postponed his wedding at short notice to play in what would be his only Test during England's 1984 tour of New Zealand.

More recently, contracted players have also rescheduled weddings due to scheduling conflicts.

Joe Root mentioned on Saturday that he and his wife Carrie had rearranged their wedding "three times because of different tours."

Former England skipper Joe Root said that Stone would leave the tour with his teammates' best wishes.

"It's a special time in anyone's life," Root said, as per quoted by ESPNcricinfo.

"I'm really excited for him. I'm sure he is all over the place with everything that's going on, but it'll be very special for him - and his wife - starting a different chapter in his life. We'll all be raising a cold water to him at some point, celebrating," Root concluded.

The National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore will host fitness tests for domestic spinners, including Mehran Mumtaz, over the next two days. The PCB seeks to evaluate their fitness levels for potential inclusion in Pakistan's squad for the second Test against England.

The tests assume significance as Nauman Ali and Zahid Mahmood, previously omitted due to fitness concerns, failed to meet the required standards. The second Test is slated for October 15-19 in Multan.

The ongoing protests in Pakistan's capital, Islamabad, have sparked worries that the third Test match between England and Pakistan might be relocated from Rawalpindi to Multan. This change would coincide with the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation meeting, which is expected to draw more demonstrations.

A venue switch would be embarrassing for the Pakistan Cricket Board, which recently altered the second Test's location due to construction delays. Holding all three Tests in Multan could tarnish Pakistan's reputation as a host nation and deter future international cricket tours.

England's 2022 tour was a resounding success, but confining the entire series to one city would be undesirable for players and fans. The latter face stringent security measures and require armed escorts when venturing out of their hotels.

Tour operators are urging the England & Wales Cricket Board to intervene, citing the significant impact on traveling fans who booked arrangements expecting matches in multiple cities. A decision on the venue is anticipated by Thursday.

PCB chief operating officer Salman Naseer and Pakistan red-ball head coach Jason Gillespie exchanged team jerseys with ECB Chair Richard Thompson and CEO Richard Gould before the start of play today.

The ICC rated the pitches for the recently concluded Pakistan-England Test series as "satisfactory."

Initially, the pitch in the first Test was flat, leading to high scores and a drawn-out game. After Pakistan's defeat, the pitch-preparation strategy was changed drastically to favor spinners, utilizing methods like giant fans and heaters to dry out and break up the surfaces.

This resulted in spinners dominating the last two Tests, and Pakistan won both. Despite England's lack of public complaints and ICC's acceptance, the pitch in Rawalpindi continued to face scrutiny for its quality.

Jason Gillespie speaking during the commentary in Pakistan vs Australia 2nd ODI:

"Shan Masood is a big part of the win against England. He is a calm leader, has plans in place and is very clear in his thinking. There were some changes after the first Test as Noman Ali and Sajid Khan came in with the theory being to back our spinners more against their spinners. We feel we can play spin better than England and both Noman and Sajid bowled brilliantly."
