And the longest serving T20 captain in history converts another potential win into a defeat.

Well done Mr. Dhoni

england barely scrape by

gurney bowled the key over

england should consider themselves lucky... india had this

To be honest, if anyone followed Dhoni's international T20 career, they would know it has been pretty mediocre,.

He leaves it its too late.

He could have smashed Woakes for a 6 though but didn't happen.

Rayudu must be feeling weird.Specialist batsman yet bats below Jaddu and is denied a strike

I'm struggling to comprehend what Dhoni just did here. Very fishy.

Dhoni should have let Rayudu take strike he could have hit a flukey four

This loss is on MSD and Rayadu the moron.

Yeah because he batted for 5 balls and couldnt hit a six on debut.

Loss is entirely due to Dhoni and no one else. In fact I could go back to each of our T20 losses and show you a Dhoni hand in it lol

Man knives are out for dhoni. Dhoni is like a completely other player in ODI. If this was ODI then it would have been game over. why cant he do the same in T20

He even declined two singles, Perhaps a draw would have been there as England won only by 3 runs?

In hindsight it would look like a bad decision but Dhoni has better odds of performing under pressure.

Even if Dhoni had hit a 4, it would have been a super over. Not an Indian loss.

Where Dhoni lost us the game was when he came at a crucial juncture and scored 9 off 10 balls.

Dhoni always takes 10-15 balls to settle. In T20s you need to start smashing from ball one especially when you are a finisher like Dhoni.

Because he leaves it too late and this isn't IPL where you get some club level bowler for one of the death overs to release pressure.

Dhoni comedies:

1. No samson
2. 3 spinners (ok let's forget that)
3. His awful first 10-15 balls at a situation where a batsman is supposed to strike like a slogger

I agree, saying no to singles was not a bad idea. Ryudu was on debut and you dont do such antics on debut. Dhoni did the right thing but you cant win them all.

Dont think this loss will result in any captaincy changes. I am still shocked by dhonis statistics. Considering the level of a player he is in ODI, the way he struggles in the other formats especially in T20 is shocking.

no every run counts.Dhoni's not some super batsman and Rayudu's not a tailender. The odds of Rayudu scoring were similar

This isn't his first match losing innings in T20.

Guys anyone remember that T20 match against NZ in India?

And tons of WC T20 matches which I have forgotten.

If ryudu was not a debutant then i would have agreed but when you are on debut, you already have massive jitters and on such a situation to be placed with such a burden is unfair. I am not saying dhoni is a great T20 player but he did the right thing by farming strike.
If he had given him strike, many would have said that dhoni threw the match away by giving a debutant strike in such a situation when the experienced player was needed to finish things off.

In T20s all Dhoni does is try to hoick everything on leg side like a slogger and fails miserably. Cant even hit the spinners properly. That he has continued to play T20s for 7 years without doing anything at all is purely due to Srini's blessings. Anywhere else and in 2010 his T20 career would have been over

indians being too hard on dhoni....

they just want him to win everything and anything less is unacceptable

Not saying he isnt a match losing player in T20. :P :P

However i dont blame him saying no to singles but yeah he tool way too long to get started. the moment kohli went the run rate shot upto 13 while he was there and that was irresponsible innings. Dhoni is to be blamed for this loss but more on the innings construction pattern than denying singles pattern.

On debut, but still a batsman.Even his slogs could come off.Its all a lottery at that point.

I bet nobody would have blamed Dhoni if he gave him the strike

No bud.

Just dig in deeper into Dhoni's international T20 career and you would be shocked.

He is not 1/10th the player he is in ODIs,.

If Dhoni had hit a 4, it was still a super over.

Odds of Dhoni smashing the last ball >>>> Rayudu

Right decision for me,.

On debut many players fail in easy situations. Debut is a difficult time for a batsman. To hit fuller yorker or short balls is very difficult in such a situation. It was a lottery but the odds were favoring dhoni alot more than ryudu.
I bet many would have. Very easily.

So IPL, which is supposedly the reason why did well in ODIs, cant help us win a T20 against a rookie English T20 side with just one player having IPL experience.

Loved how Moeen was the guy who fielded the final ball and there was no booing this time, only shame. Lol! :yk

We need a funny Moeen Ali smiley ASAP, tired of using Amla as a substitute. :amla

All the racist Indians booing Ali. I bet 99% of the India fans in the ground have never been to India.

The closest they have been to India is when they order a chicken tikka masala from Khan's Balti down the street and even that is a fake Indian curry.
